Hello Everyone. I modded a popular map Special force Elite, and created a thread to reduce lag before. However, I think that I might be better to make a thread for this game in order to players can report bugs or give me suggestions.

I am really happy that many players enjoy the game which I modded.
And I am sorry that I could not mend some problems.

some players has already reported me that this game causes serious lag sometimes.
Finally I found out that it is caused by the Experience system.
It is easy to remove the system, though I heard that some players like leveling up units with it.
I am not sure that I should have removed it or not.

Then, I put Leveling up system like Warcraft3, and the lag seems disappeared.
However, I need to fix other parts as well to balance the game.

Recently, I uploaded this new Test version.
I think You can find the map If you searched special force, and Test ver. (maybe only on North America server that I am using?)
Players who are bothered by serious lags might be able to enjoy it more than the previous one.
Unfortunately, I do not have enough time to fix all problems, though, try to do it.

ah, and I temporary removed bottuns to produce and research protoss units from the test version.
It will not take long time to add them again. (though, I saw 1 player using then in a way I havent imagined XD)
please wait a bit more patiently.

Hello and thank you for remixing a map into a great and enjoyable map!!!! i tested out your new map style and i was sad to see the unit Experience system was removed, but i was able to deal with it when you added heros. i like the idea but i felt held back, once it got to a certen point my Nova was just not cutting it any more. i attempted to mod your remix but i belived you locked it and i understand why. so i would like to just bring you my ideas and see if you will enjoy the thought as much as i.

i was going to remove the hero (i.e.Nova) and insted bring back the Experience system for one single unit called the Special Force commander or somthing more clever lol. you would have a list of units much like before (ghost marine zelot) and it would be a auto elite with the Experience system that can be upgraded like its normal unit. this way i would feel more open choices. i love the map and thats all i wanted to adjust. no changes to power (acept the main hero) because its a Special force i wanted to make it feel more bang for small numbers.

the last time i played your remix i just pulled my hero back, Nova did 150 damage with her pen.round and my ghost with longer range did 250. my hero was no longer a hero. other then that i have no problems and hope that I even in the future can muse you into making the final version a powerful and super fun time waster that makes you come back for more!!


and even if you dont take my ideas, so be it lol perhaps from me you will get insperations and maybe more people will flood your inbox with suggesstions and thumbs up!

Well, I am sorry for updating incomplete map.
I wanted to remove serious lag and needed to add something instead of the Experience system.
thats why there are only few heroes and some unbalanced points.

Personally, I like leveling up common units such as firebats and hellions.
I will add something which enable us to level up common units as heroes. (not all units, because it will share experience point and makes difficult to max up all units.)
such as.... when you buy unit, you can randomly get common hero unit by 5% like Elite units.

I often try to balance units and most units life or weapon damage or others are changed.
probably, normal ghosts damage are weaker than nova's attack now.
when I found that some units are too weak (like carriers) or too strong, I manage to balance them.

before, I tried to change units name with researching units, but it changed units name before I researched : (((( (like this, I am a real editor beginner, thats why I cant fix many problems)

I am modding by myself and it is really time consuming : (
so, I thought that I may be better to unlock this game.
If I would unlock it, there will be a lot of minor changed version and difficult to choose which one to play (before, there were just too many special forces and I didnt know which one is fun...)

anyway, I am going to unlock the old version which has experience system soon.
when I will stop modding, I follow Mikelat and unlock that new version as well.

ah... does anyone help to fix a kind of bug?
When I researched Shield for marines, marines that are already in the battle field have shields.
but marines that will produce by fortress won't have shield.
I think I need to do something in actor section or requirement section, but not sure how to fix.

in the same way, when I researched advanced medic research, newly produced medivacs models are changed without any problem.
I think, warpig model just added shield, and medivacs use model swapping.
however, still I have no idea how to mend this issue : (

Love your map/mod Lanzarote, it's pretty much the only thing I play on SC2 now. After this latest upgrade however, I really wanted to make some notes/suggestions for you. The games I have been playing have had people not really enjoying the upgrade, and in turn quitting which just makes an even less enjoyable experience for me.

The experience system - this was definitely nice in the previous version, however it did cause a noticeable amount of lag and the new version completely alleviates this for me. Love it.

The hero spawns - as Exalted posted earlier, your "hero" unit eventually becomes not much of a hero at all, with normal units being able to overpower them. The games I have been playing most people end up just leaving them at base. There is also the problem with them not being able to be killed. As many people don't really want to use them because of the mentioned underpowering, it would be nice to just get rid of them altogether, so that way we can at least use that extra 10 supply for other units. The respawning and taking half your money thing is not cool either, especially when they end up being really weak and sometimes you don't even realize that they died. I really liked Exalted's idea about a single experience-based unit at spawn, or some sort of middle ground between the exp system and the hero system. I just can't argue with the lag of it though.

The upgrades - why is armor limited to only 10? And why does it cost so much? I say just go back to the previous upgrading system - it seemed pretty good already.

The protoss - yes I know it's not completed and I'm sure you know about the many issues. Just wanted to make note that the energy/attack speed upgrades are linked in that upgrading energy for example will upgrade spd, however I don't think it actually affected the speed. The hotkeys also seemed doubled up on some of them.

So that's just what I can think of now, I really have grown to love this map and wanted to share my thoughts in the hopes of it helping you create an even better map.

I received a lot of request about experience system.
As I mentioned before, personally, I really want to level up common units as well.

I changed Starting units as Exalted suggested, and enable players to choose a unit whichever you want.
However, Thor or Battle cruisers are much stronger than Marines, and
it is useless to choose marine or marauder hero.

In addition, common units with Hero status was really OP, as you can imagine XD
Hero Battle cruiser or marine can attack extremely fast.

then, I decreased Hero status bonus and weapon speed upgrades, it seems OK.
still, the game will be unbalanced, though this game is not "player vs player" game.
I think it would be acceptable.

well, I will reply to other question later.

Nova's Penetrator round doesn't actually use energy.

That weird ability tosh has that drains health works on allies.

Game crashes my starcraft after a couple minutes.

you are doing a great job lanzarote but this is the bug page so here goes, cole stated alot of them and the energy/speed for protoss is bugged when u click energy or speed both go up but only energy has taken the effect, heros seem to have very low armor even at the highes lvl thats all for now, maybe later later you can add more overtaken zerg units because that special forces revisited is really fun but no where near as good as this one

same error occurs to me.

I have already fixed protoss upgrade bug, and try to fix consumption as well.

but why this fatal error happens?

umm, I saw same message and it must indicate what caused the issue.
however, which part it 0xC0000095?
and what is INT_OVERFLOW?
would be rawdata, but still not sure how to fix.

0xC00000957 refers to a location in memory, the raw adress of a byte of information.

INT_OVERFLOW means that a integer in the game overflowed and caused an error, in other words something generated a big enough number to go over the limit. A signed integer can go from -2.147 billion to 2.147 billion and a unsigned integer can go from 0 to 4.29 billion.

whatever he added from patch 2.6 to 2.7 seems to be what did it, game never crashed before, i like the experience system though, make it worth having a unit last longer, and more pissed if it dies like if u lose loki or something

so.... INT_OVERFLOW means integer problem,
does it mean a Trigger cause this issue, right?
I think I might be better to check triggers which I added or changed recently.
