Hello.
Has somebody got some Graphical improvements after the update. I read they did some changes on earlier iMacs with ATI cards, so I'm wondering as this is my case but I don't have time to test it. So if somebody can write the impressions... @Blizzard, now that 10.7.3 is public, do you know of some changes made/came in this area? Thx G |

it fixes a wake from sleep performance issue for imacs with ati graphics.
it also has newer versions of all video drivers for all cards. it's a recommended update for anyone. however, apsolutely do NOT update with software update, it's really broken, update only using this http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1484 software update is having major problems irght now http://9to5mac.com/2012/02/02/apple-already-investigating-mac-os-x-10-7-3-cui-application-crashing-issues |

Omega is correct, I would do the combo updater, as it's more reliable. New updates mean newer drivers as well. If anyone has any feedback about this update and the performance on SC2, I will love to hear it.

I feel like Safari is performing better. I did the combo updater. Haven't tried SC2 yet but I was already getting 60+ FPS average so not too worried.
I have never used a combo update before but did so after reading various recommendations. Luckily I backed up my hard drive right before--the first time, it timed out in the middle of moving the installed files around and I had to hard reboot to a non-functional OS. That meant booting up while holding Command + R, backing up from my last Time Machine save, re-downloading the updater (in case the first one was bugged--I couldn't be certain), booting the machine yet again in Safe Mode (hold shift during the few seconds between the "chime" and the appearance of the Apple logo at startup), and THEN using the updater. Now all is well. |

I'd say the performance is 10.7.3 is really similar to 10.7.2 but the FPS doesn't jump around as much--same mean value but less variance.

I did update via software update and had no problems... I was one of the lucky ones. :P
Anyway back to topic, I saw no major improvement, i guess this is as far as we can get, getting around 30-40 fix on high settings. |
I did update via software update and had no problems... I was one of the lucky ones. :P lol yes you were, apple even pulled software update version and even stand alone delta update. they only kept combo updater up. Just goes to show you, always trust the combo update ;) http://9to5mac.com/2012/02/04/apple-removes-standard-mac-os-x-10-7-3-download-due-to-bugs-offers-combined-download-instead/ |

just always use the combo updater.the issue is never the combo, it's always software update or delta :P always repair permissions afterwards too, no idea why, but a few files aer always wrong, despite the fact all repair permissions does is restores permissions to the specifictions of the instlaler receipt which matches the permissions they were upon install, in theory, which boggles me then, how they could possibly be wrong. But they are heh. besides, even if you wait 3 months, there are gonna be random flukes in software update sometimes, like it failing to properly update video drivers. Or if you down the raod cahnge some hardware, software update to reduce download size only downloaded what you needed AT THE TIME. It didn't consider what you might need 3 months from then, vs a combo updater which is just everything :) |

Mine worked?...
