Bigger maps make more zerg wins?
|
I think that a few bigger maps would greatly increase the win rate of any zerg player because this will allow for less early cheese to unwallable zerg, let zerg make more use of expanding, make zerg average unit speed more effective and make creep spread a bigger part of the game. I think this will also give the maps a bit more replay value with more than one real battle area as well as make more areas of the map "zerg territory", with the many many bottle necks and very little open space it is very easy for other races long range units make short work of a lot of zerg's bread and butter. With larger maps battles for both a zerg as well as the protoss/terran would depend even more on placement and I think that a little more space can make for a lot of new strategies which are usually limited by the rush distance etc. Looking forward to your comments

Congrates on your ability to make an exact opposite statement :) |
Steppes of War making a return to ladder, season 8, anybody? no? |
What is Steppes of War? |
The smallest map ever created. Your natural's ramp was closer to your opponents natural's ramp than it was to your main. I don't even know if there were more than two bases on that map, because it was a miracle if you even got your natural up |

I don't even know if there were more than two bases on that map, because it was a miracle if you even got your natural up surprisingly, there were quite a few. your main and nat, a third, an extremely far away fourth, and a gold. same goes for opponent. sounds like a lot of bases for such a small map, but you could probably google it or something. |

So many adjacent bases. http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft/images2/thumb/d/d6/Steppes_of_War.jpg/400px-Steppes_of_War.jpg EDIT: Now that I look at it, wouldn't moving the 3rd base rocks to the opposite 3rd ramp make more sense? Why do the rocks block your third and provide an attack route on a map that already has such an easy attack route. OMG it was just such a poorly designed map. |

If anything id argue the maps are already too big, scouting on maps like entombed and taldarim is a total pain. Also games are stupidly passive at the moment as many P and Z players are perfectly happy just staying on their half of the map until a good T3 comp
