StarCraft® II

What do you think of my "Cancer" strategy

In 1 vs 1,basically you rush the enemy with zerglings and roaches from 5-15 min in but you don't finish them off. It goes both ways though because a lot of people will quit when half their base is gone that early on. Then you just keep building up bases like crazy around the enemy and use creep like there is no tomorrow. Then build base defenses pretty much all over the map. And I mean lots of them! So even if your enemy masses marines, voids, etc (if they even get the chance) eventually their army will be gone even before they get to your main base.

I like games that drag on and I especially like to toy with the enemy into thinking they have a chance but they really don't :D.

Zerglings and roaches work well in and of themselves, but relying on them through the 12 minute mark is probably leaning a bit too hard on t1 units alone.

Additionally, I have to question why you Wouldn't press the advantage if you're already in their base and half of it's gone; this sort of position isn't one easily recovered from and it's Far more easily over-powered by a constant stream of reinforcements or a BRIEF pause to re-mass before striking again (within 1 minute if at all possible.). Withdrawing at this point is probably not the most effective way to approach it.

If you like drawing the game out like that, it's your call, but it's not exactly viable as a combative strategy. It seems like the only folks this will work against are the ones you're already out-playing by a significant margin.

Dude, you're bronze. You're opponents usually fold under pressure which is why you win with the initial push (just cause you don't end the game doesn't mean its not over). Also wasting your opponents time when you have already clearly won and you can end the game is mean, just go win and move on to your next opponent.

Sure Zabuza, if you like you can try your cancer strat on me. Should be fun :)

Well, when you're ahead, get more ahead. Typically it is more effective to take an advantage and build on it rather than trying to end the game with it, so if the basic idea is to secure a lead then expand on it then that's certainly sound. An example of this at high level play would be a push to snipe a base, followed by pulling back to defend your own.

That said, it sounds like your followup is less goal oriented and more *@#%ing around, which is fine, I guess, but that doesn't make it a good strategy.

So basically you just described every game, ever.

If you win your first push that severely, you won the game. As you describe, it is often not a good idea to keep on pushing until all your units are exhausted or sometimes you'll suffer a loss to a counter attack. As you describe, push, kill a few things, expand, push, kill a few more things, expand, push, win the game. That's how its done. Welcome to silver! See you in gold once you work out your macro.

I see where you are all coming from and yes im bronze but I play for fun not to win.

You sir are cruel. You should play the computer then because you are toying with your opponent. How about just win and then start another game and you'll get to have more fun because it will actually be a challenge. Fun is derived in part from challenge, unless of course you are deriving your fun from sadism and schadenfreude.

isn't that just an extended 7 roach rush?

I sir, just want to smack the living !@#$ out of you. First off when you're that far ahead, say half the opponent base is gone, you should just end it, secondly you're in bronze so most likely the people will fold but try that %^-* in a higher level and they'll probably come back and stomp on you laughing all the way. True i am in silver and dont know personally but i've had plenty of comeback wins when people like you get cocky and prance around with units doing dance moves and !@#$. Secondly, you said you play for fun and not to win. Are you some sort of sick sadist? i mean really, how fun is it to kick someone while they're already half dead? The real fun is knowing you beat someone straight up especially if their more skilled than you. But i doubt you have the skill to even accomplish that

Sounds wayyyyy too mineral heavy, I suppose you could spend your gas on upgrades but still. This build sounds like you'd run out of money really fast. Paired with your terrible econ from the early pushing there would have to be some insanely risky droning to get back on track.

BRONZE LEAGUE UNITE!

Lol.

You'd need to be a bit clearer - I can tell that most people here are skeptical.

Anyway, if you're looking for a really troll build; just get a bunch of zerglings, rush burrow, then wall him in with spine crawlers. Burrow the zerglings all over his base, and he can't build any buildings, while you expand everywhere then kill him with a few mutalisks.

Like I said, totally a troll build; but it could work XD.

So this is basically a way to turn a quick win into a drawn-out win?

One LOOOONG win feels like two wins but you don't risk losing in between!

bronze player is obviously bronze.

Well considering you're bronze, you have TONS of room for error. You could just leave the game for give minutes and come back still with a good chance of winning. So, get to diamond+ and make it work!

(Not saying it's not viable, just that it's not tested)

Of course it's viable.. it's called a roach ling all-in... in anything above silver though, they'll come back and kill you if you don't finish it.
