See the Higgs Boson post in this forum.
As a resident physicist, please don't call it God particle. It has nothing to do with God.
And almost no question will be answered. As nice as the discovery is, it actually a little bit boring. Imagine you have a jigsaw puzzle (called the standard model). It has one missing piece called the Higgs boson. It's nice to find the piece and complete the puzzle but you already knew what the picture was. So yeah... that's that.
Never call the Higgs boson the God particle. Every time someone does, a puppy dies somewhere. (it's statistically true but totally uncorrelated... I don't care, you get the message)
It is unfortunate that a coined term for the discovery actually discourages people from looking up what the boson higgs is and what it does. I read a USA today article on it and you should have seen the number of posts on the article that clearly indicated no one in fact read the article. It just ended up turing into a religion vs science type of thing. I wish we didn't lose scope on things logically just because someone feels a part or most of any argument has any tie in to religion. The worst was that when someone who actually read the article said hey this has nothing to do with GOD its just what one person referenced what he was reporting, he gets slammed.
