We've received unfortunate reports that people are losing custom mod files located in your StarCraft II's Mods directory. To prevent the loss of data, please back up any custom files you've placed inside the StarCraft II installation directory prior to patching.

The default file paths are as follows...
Default for 32-bit Windows OS: C:\Program Files\Starcraft II\Mods\Default for 64-bit Windows OS: C:\Program Files (x86)\Starcraft II\Mods\Default for Mac OS: %USERPROFILE%/Library/Application Support/Blizzard/Starcraft II/Mods/This bug is not affecting the /Maps/ folder. ________________________________________________ The Chat Gem Lives! It's a good thing patches have such a dedicated team of testers working double time to make sure potentially destructive bugs and oversights don't make it into a release.

It's a good thing they put out a beta that apparently nobody tested and then wants to !@#$% incessantly when they don't like the official release. |

It's a good thing patches have such a dedicated team of testers working double time to make sure potentially destructive bugs and oversights don't make it into a release. Except: 1. Beta is usually installed in it's own folder (making it unlikely that players will notice this as they have all their mods in the official SC2 folder). 2. When installing something like this, Blizzard should automatically backup any user files into their own place if possible. I know a few programs automatically backup user settings before installing in case something screws up. I'm not really affected (I always backup anything I work on) but I can see this problem affecting tons of people. I did have some random unimportant stuff in the mod folder though (stuff related to editing the xml files) but I backed up everything important though. I can see others being really frustrated by this if they had more important stuff in there that isn't backed up. |
Are you really trying to be a white knight over a critical oversight wiping out a folder for user data? If you've been around long enough you would know that Beta and Official releases are not the same versions either. |

After installing patch 1.5 I can no longer open SC2.

There's absolutely no way to recover locked maps that are on battlenet but were deleted from a local hard drive due to the patch? Seeing as this is blizzard's error, I feel they should add some way for a publisher to unlock/lock their map without publishing new versions.
