I've always used Alt+G. In Blizzard RTS, it has always been hold down alt + left click to ping. Always. No reason to change it. |

It is not necessarily that finding the G key is hard but the fact that they changed something without the need to. I have been alt + clicking on the minimap to ping since the game was released. It has been so long since Ive been doing it that it is second nature and I dont have to think about it anymore. All of a sudden they changed it and now I will alt + click the map like 5 times with nothing happening and then I remember I have to alt+g. In the second that it takes me to correct myself, Dts have already done damage, couldnt get obs in time etc etc. I understand that it can be rebound and I have done that, but still why would they change something that isnt broken. If blizz was a person, I would punch it in the kidney and make it piss blood for being such an !@#$%^.

Cakefart Its not about learning how to type without looking at keyboard. Its about the habit. I know some people use ALT+G and some use ALT+left click. Then why can't Blizzard let us have those 2 options ? U said u always used ALt+G, what if Blizzard changed it to ALT+P ? are your fingers that long to reach those hot keys ? what if people are handicapped ? U need to think all the possible ways to satisfy everyone, you cant just make people learn how to type without looking at keyboard. |

This helped pursue a team oriented game plan and attack path. Yes, people actually create a path through pings. Maybe your teammate doesn't have VoIP, and you need to warn him to go around a patch of seige tanks instead of through. You draw it with a ping line. |

In patch 1.4.4, Quick Ping was hardcoded to Ctrl+Alt for the normal gameplay area and Alt for the minimap. We added the Quick Ping hotkey to the Unit Management section of the Global Hotkeys menu in patch 1.5.0 to allow players to rebind it as they see fit. As some of you have pointed out, the default for this hotkey is currently Ctrl+Alt, but it can be rebound to any keystroke you choose -- including Alt. Please be aware, however, that rebinding this hotkey to Alt may also unbind your Display Healthbars hotkey, so make sure to rebind this key as well if you use it frequently.
By the way, we'd love to hear your thoughts on this change. Please let us know what you think and provide us with specific examples of how this change impacts your gameplay. |

The minimap ping feature is a UI enhancement, not specifically a unit management tool. So why was that decision made, and whose feedback was used in the beta? It is inconvenient for most users trying to rebind this key, as it makes more sense for it to be under UI. Please clarify. |

I actually never knew you could just use Alt, I've always used Alt + G, so I see everyone getting upset over this change and I'm completely unaffected. :D

By the way, we'd love to hear your thoughts on this change. Please let us know what you think and provide us with specific examples of how this change impacts your gameplay. I don't recall this change being mentioned, so it was rather frustrating when I first tried to ping. I eventually figured out I had to use ctrl+alt, then shortly after found I could rebind it to just alt again. Is there a place we could find out about the smaller changes like this, or did I just miss it in the patch notes? I saw the patch notes, but I didn't see this mentioned. |

I just want to be able to hold down the alt key and ping the minimap like before. Changing it to alt in custom hotkeys still doesn't allow us to hold it down and ping like before. Like always. Specific example. I ping my attack paths all the time so my 2v2 ally can coordinate with my army movements. Having to tap alt every time I ping instead of holding it down makes it very cumbersome. Also, if I miss a left click, my cursor stays locked in ping mode (the cursor never changed before) and I have to right click to unlock my curson and select my units again. It's slow and clumsy compared to the old way. The way it's been in...well, every Blizzard RTS that I can think of. Even pinging multiple locations: "Set up proxies here, here, and here. Put your Overlords here, and there" is slower now. It's harming team play. Please, change the ping method back. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Edit: I just now found out there IS a way to restore it exactly as it was. http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/6246865600 However, I still think it should default to the traditional method, to avoid all this difficulty and confusion. |

It for sure makes player confused when it's suddenly changed to something different. My first thought was, whaaat, it's not working anymore? oO Oh well.. btw. I like Doncroft, first higher ranked forum member that actually says sometimes that it is NOT perfect.^^ Instead of questionable excuses sometimes.. :S
