As part of our ongoing efforts to foster a productive and happy StarCraft II mapmaking community, we recently asked players to share their thoughts and ideas on how the custom map system might be improved. Some mapmakers noted that the current limits placed on custom map publishing felt too restrictive and, as a result, made their mapmaking experience less enjoyable. We've taken this feedback to heart and increased custom map upload limits in two ways. Players are now provided with a total of 10 custom map slots and up to 50 mbs of total map storage space. Ultimately, we want players to be able to share more maps with the community, and we feel these changes will supply mapmakers the additional freedom they need to better flex their creative muscles. We'll be carefully monitoring how this additional storage is used by players and, as always, will continue to seek your feedback for how we may further improve the Battle.net mapmaking and publishing experience. |

why? whats wrong with the custom map system? Ive been playing every blizzard RTS game since release, SC2 custom map system is by far the best out of the bunch There are plenty of threads with a wall of text describing what is wrong with the custom map system. Read them. They need some way to filter and sort the games list beyond the broken popularity system, to start with. Also as the guy above said, local map support would help greatly. |
Is blizzard going to do anything else to fix how horrible everything else about the Custom map system is? Instead of complaining, why don't you say what needs fixing and how it can be fixed. How can they fix something if they don't know what's wrong with it? We need to tell them what is wrong so they can address the issue. |
Is blizzard going to do anything else to fix how horrible everything else about the Custom map system is? I think the fact that there are probably 5 threads with 10+ pages explaining every fault just on the front page of the custom map forums (the US ones, EU probably has just as many) that adding another thread wouldn't really help. |

The problem is the limit on a single map, maybe make it 20mbs, 10mbs for a single map is pretty small for more intricate maps, even if they don't import anything.
And if you guys REALLY have that limited storage space, than keep it how it is for most people, but let people buy a 5 or so dollar "mapmaker" pack which increases their map upload limit and overall storage limit. |

Meh. What kind of effort did this take? I don't want to sound ungrateful but it might have taken one guy a couple hours to make this adjustment, if even that. And this issue is really one of the lower priorities the community is concerned with. Where is the news on updates to the editor so it doesn't intimidate most people into quitting? How about the popularity system that we've recently discovered can be manipulated easily?
Come on guys. Please acknowledge you have the intention of doing more than shifting around some numbers in a database to show you care. |
