I'm eagerly waiting for the next patch to at least run my starcraft 2 in medium settings without at least lagging. I'm really desperate.. everytime it lags, i'm discouraged to play starcraft. Please tell me when this problem be solved.. I need a straight answer.
Thank you. |

I understand your frustration and disappointment with the situation. However, this is something that Apple and Nvidia are going to have to patch. We are working with both companies, but I do not have an ETA to provide you. Hey, thanks for cooperating with Nvidia and Apple on those drivers. I've went into a couple of different apple stores for "troubleshooting" help, and they put tickets in as well. :) We'll get these stinking crappy nvidia drivers nipped in the but! Or, apple will see the interest in apple gaming, and drop nvidia from their future product lines... and then Nvidia will fix their drivers! :) |

For what it's worth, I was having a lot of the problems that I read about regarding the nvidia bugs in 10.6.4. There is no fix listed for the specific bug; however, I finally dug up somewhere that sometimes you can clear up issues on your mac by booting into safe mode (hold down shift while it's booting), log in and let it finish booting, and then rebooting in normal mode. Apparently Mac's do a little bit of housekeeping when booting into safemode. I tried it, and I haven't had any crashes or freezes the last 2-3 nights.

By the way, guys, don't be spending thousands of dollars on anything you have never tested. What kind of decision making is that? |
decision making? the game should work out of the box and it doesnt....i cant help that, my computer recomends evertying on high, yet plays like crap Yes, but, most of that problem is not Blizzard's. It's Nvidia's and Apple's problem. My game DID run out of the box just great on Ultra settings. I'm on a Mac running OS X, not Windows. Difference? ATI rather than Nvidia. Ergo, Nvidia needs to fix their crap. Apple needs to help them. |

And what do you mean by ETA? ETA stands for "estimated time of arrival." And right now, that estimation is "not tomorrow." |

If nothing else, thank God this is Blizzard and not EA. I recall tons of posts complaining about the horrendous netcode for Generals and the EA forum monitors gave the most mindless evasive answers and the company never did anything to fix it.
Thank you, Blizzard, for actually caring about your gamers! |

There's a very simple fix until Apple puts out 10.6.5 (which includes Nvidea driver updates and has already been sent out to developers for testing, so is likely only a month or two away).
Revert to 10.6.3. Just re-install 10.6 from the Install DVD (just the standard install, don't tell it to erase anything), then use the 10.6.3 combo update instead of the 10.6.4. Viola, Starcraft 2 runs at 60 FPS at double the settings you're running it on to get 10. Seriously, for all of the time you save being on a Mac, downgrading to 10.6.3 while they get the 10.6.5 update out really isn't a bad deal. Shame on Nvidea/Apple for not getting it done sooner, but as far as hassles go, it's pretty minor due to the 100% guaranteed workaround |

If you downgrade, there's going to be another problem. Are you aware of the random closing of starcraft due to the driver bug? Now, they fixed it in 10.6.4 so it's really impossible. |
