[Bug] 10+ second lag at match start since 1.5

• Not all players in a game are starting a match at the same time.
We are investigating this issue but it appears to happen with lower end machines and could be related to running other programs in the background.

. I would like to add that when I run sc2 I shutdown all bg applications and I run gamebooster, which shuts down even more processes.

Low end machines my !@#. That's a load of bull$%^-. Blizzard I'm so *!@#ing sick of this $%^-.

Same issue. Spawning into game late. Actually came here looking to see if it had been reported. Hopefully this thread is still being examined for actual reports and less complaints.

• Not all players in a game are starting a match at the same time.
We are investigating this issue but it appears to happen with lower end machines and could be related to running other programs in the background.

My symptoms:
Pre-1.5, I loaded into games OK. I examined four replays from 13 July - 14 July and saw that I had actions at :00 or :01.
Post-1.5, I load into games between :12 and :15, but only online games.
Single player Versus A.I has no problem.
Co-op games have this issue.
Ladder games have this issue (1v1 and 2v2).
I am unsure if custom games have this issue as many have a menu at the beginning.

Additional details:
I notice that in the loading screen, the load bar fills, my mouse cursor changes from blue to green, and then I can count to 5 or 7 or so and then I will load into the game. As others have reported, the replay shows my opponent active. When I spawn into the game, I typically see 'Waiting for server -- surrender?' for one second or less.

Resolution attempts:
Adjusting my graphics options has no effect. My recommended settings are Extreme, turning to Low does not affect this issue.
Turning off my sounds in the options menu has no effect.
Defragmenting my hard drive has no effect.

System information:
I use a Netgear WG111v3 USB wireless-G adapter to connect to my network. There are no updated drivers for this device. My wireless signal is 'Excellent' as reported by OS.

Here is a trimmed version of my dxdiag. Feel free to contact me via e-mail if you need additional information (SC2 is running in the background and I also have a significant numbe of chrome tabs open while searching for this issue, but I normally close almost everything before playing SC2, as I did before the patch).

Same issues here, and even though they say it's with mostly low end machines, I know my machine is most certainly not low end. Here is my dxdiag.

While we don't respond to every thread on this forum all of them are actually read and help in identifying what might be causing various issues.

Specifically, for the late start issue, while we initially thought it might be related to low end machines we are still investigating all reports to see if we can pin down the underlying cause. As of the creation of this comment we're still in the thick of investigation on this issue as there appear to be no "easy solutions" or "quick fixes" coming to light.

The entry in the Known Issues thread will continue to get updates as our investigations go forward.

mmm same, happening quite a bit on SEA server, and lag's not constant, sometimes its 5 second delay, sometimes its just one or two. either way, 1 second alone is pretty bad, but this only happened since the patch.

This is so lols, like i dunno whats going on over there but this basically kills the game for me and a lot of other people. And saying it happens only on low end machine............. trying so hard to not flame, but come on this is just a joke i get 5-15 of lag, you know how much 15 secs is in game?

Same here. I wouldn't have noticed it if my buddies hadn't asked, why aren't you mining? When I'm still looking at the loading screen.

Quad core i5 2400, nvidia GTX460, starcraft installed on SSD (most programs are on my data drive), 8 GB memory, ASUS p8p67 motherboard . . . no problems of this kind until 1.5.

I must say I am quite disappointed that a patch came out and this was not fixed. Instead were a bunch of sissy fixes to casual arcadey things. Not starting a competitive game for 20s? One as finely tuned as starcraft?

Look, Starcraft is the best RTS for one reason -- it's so balanced that pros play it for years without collapsing to one uber strategy. That knife-edge balance is what makes this game what it is. Several others would be more fun if they were balanced like Starcraft. They're not.

And a 10-20s start penalty really just pulls the rug out from under that, doesn't it?

Look, I'm just silver. But when I lose or win, I know I lost or won a knife-edge balanced game that can't be mastered by full-time competitors. (A perfect player would go random every time for the slight scouting advantage, but the pros all play one race, so nobody has mastered this game.)

Please, no more sissy patches until the core game is fixed, 'k?

Me too! Anywhere from 10-20 seconds late. I also stutter bad throughout the entire game with network spikes and stalls. I can't even play...it's basically impossible. Too frustrating.

I'm only silver too but this bug prevents you from executing ANY cheese build, you literally have to go standard. I can't respond to cheese either as Im usually a whole marines worth of time late on my first marine.

I appreciate that Blizzard acknowledges the issue and is looking in to it. I think what is being emphasized here is that it is game breaking for those that are experiencing it. I personally will not play any 1v1 games until this problem is fixed because I should not take hits to my MMR because of a bug and can not accurately adjust my play when I lose for something I can not control.

That being said, I can be patient. I recognize that these issues are not always easy to fix and am satisfied so long as the problem is not being ignored. I can always find other games to play while I wait.

Well it's Tuesday, hopefully we'll get an update. I've (and others) have had these issues for a month :( and it's pretty much unplayable.

This.

Blizzard, can we just cancel the arcade patch and go back? Why change stuff that never required fixing? =[
