What are the odd getting into Beta?

Anyone know how many players have been invited into beta compare to the total population of the current active Sc2 scene?

I am having a crazy BETA fever! Just wanna know my chances...

Pretty low. They count "active" players as having played at least 1 match in the past 6 months, which is a LOT of people.

Also, I think for technical testing purposes, they have people' registered beta systems in different tiers so they know the game works well in all levels. However, they need to keep the ## in each category somehwat consistent. But most people would have mid-range ish systems so the chance of getting in with a good PC is a bit lower than getting in with a 4000$ PC. just a bit.

First wave was pro\press\F&F only, so discounting that:

Wave 2 was 8,000
Wave 3 was 12,000
Wave 4 was 7,000
Wave 5 was 12,000

Shows about how many have gone out.

Chances are pretty darn low right now. They prioritize people who have played once in the last 6 months, but its still possible for someone who has never played SC2 to get a key.

All of my diamond/master/gm friends haven't gotten one, oh and we played alot recently.like 20-30 games a day.

Playing 1 game in the past 6 months or playing 30 a day, either way you have the same odds of getting into the beta.

It sucks, and it's illogical, but it's how blizz is doing it.

Ok... That does really sucks. I thought the more active and (laddering) players will get a higher chance... But I guess it is the way how balance the game, since they are aiming for players from casual to pros. Come on blizz, wave 6 20,000 and active players laddering players :P

Kinda funny since all the people that I know that have gotten beta are people that play customs all day and are like bronze-gold.

I'm betting they've still played at least *one* ladder game in the past half-year. =P

Just remember, this is in comparison who don't even own Starcraft II.

Yes, everyone who doesn't have a key is disappointed and thinks Blizzard ought to focus on giving them keys. If Blizzard only gave keys to master players, Diamond players and below would be spaming the forums with posts about how the game needs feedback from lower level players, too.

Like it or hate it, Blizzard has made the choice to make invites essentially random.

Don't do like I did and opt in for the beta only to realize after 5 waves that you didn't have the little box checked in the communications settings to allow Blizz to send you emails.

They don't have to send you an email to get you a key, so technically that shouldn't have prevented you from getting one.

Pretty sure it does effect it, sorry. They say your account has to be "in good standing" to receive an invite -- take that for what you will.

So using a graph to predict the amount of total players based of the mean of the 5 waves, then estimating the 10th wave, can give you a percent.

Considering the amount of SC2 players, estimated to be 3,444,429, and turning the estimated number of about 90 thousand beta players, we do in fact get a number less than 1 %. But not to mention the number of opt ins, but my head hurts to much to calculate that in, I should think that that number will decrease the percentage a bit though.

EDIT - you should also think about the current number of active players... OUCH MY HEAD!

So your odds, not so good. Because based off an even ten waves, which totals around 90k-120k, the percentage is still less than one.

Ouch.... My head :C

So, at the estimate I made, which is very optimal, you still have like only a 1% chance......
I left some room in my calculations and numbers, to provide a more likely range.

Remember those numbers I made are logical estimates.

If you weren't so bad at reading comprehension, you'd realize "prioritize people who have played once in the last 6 months" != "I played more so I should get it"
