It hasn't been out for three years yet, but we are in the games third year.

Wow this is an uncharacteristic mistake from you HeReTiC. You forgot an apostrophe.

Edit: That was a quick ninja :o

I believe it's stated somewhere that the expansion is completed, what's taking the extra time is balancing the multiplayer.

Who cares. Blizzard is not meeting with the demand on the video game market. Games come out here and there. You cant make customers wait for a game that's 3 years in the making for an expansion, your going to lose interest and people will go elsewhere.

"Blizzard HAS to make some kind of serious attempt to appeal to the casual player and to bolster interest and support from the casual gamer."

by rushing out a game far to fast and having it suck great idea buddie your smart....

fairly certain the amount of balancing that is required, on top of actually making the game, is reason enough for it to take longer for a Starcraft expansion than you may expect.

The pro scene needs the game to be balanced. Which requires a LOT more development time than anything else. Making it takes time, refining it (balancing) takes MUCH longer.

Make 1 change, and you need to test for balancing issues.
