I've just started using the SC2 Editor as you're about to see. I've got most of the linking figured out to some degree but I'm still hung up on a couple thing in the data editor.
1. What I want to do is create 3 "Heroes" with multiple unlockable abilities. These abilities would be unlocked by means of research at a respective structure. This I can duplicate, aside from adding in a few custom research tables this is easy. I've duplicated the units I want to use for the heroes and applied the corresponding models. But I want to be able to change the actors/models these units are using throughout the games, by means of a clickable ability. Is this even possible, and if so how do I accomplish this? If I need to create duplicates of all the units I want to use and have the unit shift from one to the next that would work to. I just don't have a mechanism for making this work yet.
2. I want to create pickups which when you collect them, they allow the research at the structures to take place. I can duplicate the pickups, but I have no idea how to link the "Learn" requirement to the pickup itself. Is this possible, and if so how do I accomplish this?
3. I want to make all of my structures (all duplicated units), only accessible if the appropriate hero is standing next to the building. Some kind of a proximity requirements on these structures would work, I just don't know how to do this.
If there's any additional information I can provide for help with these topics please let me know at email@example.com. I have a great idea for a really easy RPG style game, but I need a little help learning the editor thoroughly. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
