HOTS : skytoss Build ?

I was looking an sky toss BO.

I thought opening with 1 oracle/ 2tempest to harass and continue with VR/MS and Carriers.
But it's not so effective because harass with pulsar/vion and long range shot does not enough damage to be ok after (zerg will roach rush just after ...)

maybe you could use the tempests to snipe queens/maybe even larvae? idk.

My concern is that with this build you will be entirely open to the terran or zerg just A + moving into you for a free win because you've sunk too much time and money into units that can't defend.

You could possibly hold if you do it off a 1 base, but then you're just simply not going to do enough damage to offset the financial hole you'll be in compared to a zerg/terran on 2 base

IMO tempests are awful

I don't know, I think the Tempest is just more situational than we like. I think it's incredibly good at what it does, and that's sniping expensive, large units. In my (limited) experience, you don't need more than 3 or 4, as that will 2-shot most massive units and 1-shot the all-important Infestors. Getting 8 or 10 is just overbuilding the unit. Right now, to me, it seems like Voids are our DPS unit, Carriers the heavy hitters, Phoenix the anti-light specialist, and Tempests the sniper unit.

The tempest is a space controlling unit. Also for fast harass just make 3 oracles and go kill tech or a hatch its literally that easy unless he way over invest in spores and queens at which point your still doing econ damage because he is spending drones and larva. This kind of openng lets you transtion into tempest void heavy gateay support follow up that can be deadly with time warp on there ramp or at the mouth of there natural since the tempest force them to engage and the orcale slows them down your in great shape with tempest void gateway int the midgame to end it right there. But it still lets you transtion into a lategame but you need to drop a robo or twlight to do it.

I've had absolutely 0 luck going fast tempests against zerg. Tempests are bad against many small units, but awesome against the tech heavy expensive brood/infestor/ultra units.

Oracles on the other hand are awesome at sniping tech structures or undefended bases. Oracles are actually really helpful for spine crawler defenses as well. I've been doing a mix of zealot/stalker/mothership core/oracle harrassment. Fly in with the oracles and snipe the spine crawlers and then attack with the zealot/stalker group. When they come with units fly the oracles to a different base and use recall on the mothership core.

I honestly didn't believe it when blizzard first said it, but the mothership core really allows heavy pressure without having to sacrifice everything.

Try variations on the 4-gate +1 zealot pressure mixed with oracles like we used to do void ray pressure, but group your mothership core with your zealots. Seriously, as long as you have energy on your mothership core just constantly threaten an attack on some base and it should give oracles some kind of place to hit on the backside.

Your oracle can always kill the extractor/assimilator/extractor. Other than that, tempest is not for early game. I recommend reading about the siderwinder 2 base mothership build. You open with chargelot archon and voids.

It is a little vulnerable to Infestor/Swarm Host though... Without storm, it is not possible to push back a player that does a 2 base all-in with that comp, much less a 3 base push with corruptor...

You are right. But that build is not looking at to attack. It is looking at defend the 3rd using mothership and its recall. The time ball spell helps just a little.
