Amnesia: The Darkness Within

Posts: 6,273
On the fringes of the Koprulu sector lies a massive derelict Xel'naga Worldship nearly 4 miles long and 2 miles on a jungle-like planet. The Tal'darim, fanatics who worship the Xel'naga, were the first to arrive with their fleet and the first to uncover it's ancient artifacts. They have established a formidable presence there. Some time later, the Dominion's sensors discovered the ship and sent their fleet over along with companies of mercenaries. However, Sarah Kerrigan heard of the Dominion's movements and sent a very sizable Zerg Brood to acquire the artifacts. The Protoss Hierarchy who had other issues to deal were only able to send a small specialist force over designed for infiltration.
======================
Commanders: This list will be updated. There can be multiple commanders within any faction but there will always be a superior one that everyone (must) listen to. I am flexible if you desire to control a faction.

Dominion:
Admiral Hackett (smylez)
Major Graham (smylez)

Kerrigan's Brood:
Athazual the Matriarch (Jester)
Broodmother Izath (smylez)
Broodmother Ger'kha (smylez)

Tal'darim:
Executor Felas (smylez)
Telnis (smylez)
Controller Ramadar (smylez)

Hierarchy Protoss:
High Prelate Daalis (Zarkun)
Imperator Aeteas (Owlfeathers)
==========
Summary:
For nearly 12 days, the Tal'darim have built a stronghold on the Xel'naga worldship site at the planet Karvan, a jungle planet. Tal'darim Executor Felas discovered the item he was looking for that afternoon and carefully stored it in the form of a pendant for safe keeping. Not so long after this happened, a specialist Daelaam force consisting primarily of dark templars warped outside the planet's atmosphere.

These 100 strong warriors were aboard a newly crafted dark templar vessel known as a Prowler which was designed to be very nimble and fast, perfect for infiltration missions. Lead by the Prelate Razuc, they were about to make their move when the Terran Dominion suddenly warped in.

Luckily, the Dominion forces did not detect the Prowler. Realizing that the Tal'darim could be weakened, Razuc held off the operation, opting to wait and bide his time for the perfect attack.

The Dominion fleet lead by Admiral Hackett sent down companies of ground forces to secure the Xel'naga Worldship. They have encountered heavy resistance from the Tal'darim. In response, Executor Felas sent one of his lieutenants Telnis to defend the worldship while he continued to scour the ship for a star map.

The Zerg came along not long after the fighting between the Dominion and Tal'darim began. Immediately, two leviathans descended towards the planet while the other three moved in to engage the Dominion fleet.

The fighting was fierce. The Dominion suffered many loses; they had to deal with the entrenched Tal'darim defenses. A mercenary named Terance Reaver was instructed to go around another path. With the aid of a weapon called the Ghoster, he did this task with minimal effort and secured a LZ for a group of religious fanatics who worshipped the Xel'naga called the Provun. They were instructed to flank a LZ for another company of Dominion marines but shortly after they did this, they left the company to die in order to infiltrate the ship, causing a setback for the ground advancement.

They were able to infiltrate the ship and are currently in a standoff with the Tal'darim commander Telnis and two others.

Meanwhile, another Daelaam regiment warped in unnoticed. Prelate Razuc made contact with Imperator Aeteas and they agreed to join forces. They began to set up their base of operations on the plantet and awaited for a prime time to strike.

The Zerg forces began their ground assault on the Tal'darim northern side lead. Controller Ramadar begins to charge up the Khaydarin crystals...
======
Technology and units for all factions (Updated accordingly):

The Tal'darim are religious fanatics lead by a mysterious Xava'tor who vanished for some time. With much of their leadership dealt a grievous blow during the Second Great War, they were able to regain a significant portion of their might during the interbellum after the Battle of Char. Lead by Executor Felas, they zealously protect and uncover the secrets of the Xel'naga from anyone but themselves. This drive has allowed to them to push boundaries in their technology.

Units:
Controllers: Controllers are a title given to high templars who have studied the first designs of the warped Khaydarin Crystals and made significant refinement for them. By studying these crystals that would have otherwise been regarded as treasonous under the Daelaam, they have gain accessed to new psionic powers and greater understanding of the Zerg hive link, allowing them to control the Zerg strains with the aid of said crystals.

Vindicators: By correctly arranging the psionic matrices within a pure khyadarin crystal and focusing its energies at a focal point, the Tal'darim constructed a weapon that releases a beam of psionic energy on a target. Though they can not move when firing on ground, the amount of firepower from one of these weapons is staggering. Those who wields these weapons of destructions have called themselves vindicators. They fight with a rage that burns as bright as the beams they fire on their enemies. To assist in their mobility, Tal'darim engineers have constructed a hoverboard so that Vindicators can maneuver and perform surgical strikes. Both of these technology have a fail safe to ensure they do not fall into the enemy hands.

Hurricane: A specialist fighter ship designed for armored class combatants. A hurricane's shields is able to warp projectiles, weakening their impact which minimizes the damage that can be dealt to the shields. Thus, a hurricane is able to last in battle much longer.

Vanguard: The Vanguard is a newly developed exoskeleton for Protoss warriors who are too grievously injured but still wish to be in the front lines up close. Nearly a meter and a half taller than a typical zealot, the vanguard inspires fear to the enemies with its presence. Heavily armored and shielded yet surprising agile for its size, the vanguards employ a variety of close combat weapons specifically designed for it which is not limited to pole-arms and psi blades.

The Dominion
In two years, the Dominion knew that what they had were not enough. With groundbreaking research from the Moebius Foundation, the Dominion were able to reverse engineer Protoss technology and develop better weapons to fight against the ever evolving Swarm. Unfortunately, the Dominion were set back several steps when the Moebius Foundation's HQ mysterious blew up, wiping off crucial research data and killing off many top ranking scientists including the head of the foundation, Dr. Narud.

Wyvern
An improved spec of vikings. To address fighting the much more agile and numerous mutalisks, Dominion engineers replaced the vikings with lighter parts and missiles that disperse their payloads over a wide area.

"Freya"
The flagship of the Dominion Battlecrusier for this mission. It is a Gorgon class battlecruiser.

The Dae'laam
Despite the bickering, the Khalai and Nerazim have gotten along relatively well with another although tensions are still simmering underneath the surface. The two races have continued to share and improve their existing technology out of necessity.

Kerrigan's Swarm
With the Queen of Blade's fall, the Broodmothers under her command splintered off from one another, traveling to different worlds to pursue their goals. Now that Sarah Kerrigan has returned and defeated several to gain their loyalty, they have offered her a plethora of genetic material for her to work with in order to her brood with new mutations and units.

Hulk- A festering, vaguely human shaped monstrosity whose bodies is a cesspool of diseases, tendrils and pulsating tumors, an individual hulk in battle is a fearsome sight to behold as they are very strong and show surprising agility despite their large frame. Engaging in melee combat is ill-advised as its toxins are extremely potent. They are known to explode in a spectacular fashion, spreading their diseased laden bodies.

Name: Felas
Faction: Tal'darim
Rank: Executor
Age: 617
Backstory: Though once a devout follower of Judicator caste, Felas was left aimless once the caste disappeared after the Brood Wars. Suddenly left with no purpose, Felas refused to interact with the Nerazim out of old hatreds and journeyed the galaxy until he met the Tal'darim. He joined their ranks and quickly ascended to the higher echelons of the organization. Hereplaced Nyon as the new executor shortly after Nyon's demise at the hands of Jim Raynor on the Signma Quadrant. As he took on the mantle of leadership in the aftermath of the battle, he swore to the stars that never again will the Tal'darim's holy grounds be desecrated, be it from the Terrans, Zergs, or other traitorous Protoss. He has gained extensive knowledge of the Xel'naga over the years and he has learned to read Xel'naga runes fluently, a skill few have. He agreed to transfer his shadow essence to a stalker shell so that he can continue his service for Shakuras. He become more mellow shortly afterwards, realizing that he can no longer swing his blade on top of a Zergling's squishy head but his loyalty to his kin is unfaltering.

Was sent to investigate the Dominion tests and prevent another Apparition. With that successfully done, he found himself assigned to combat the Tal'Darim and secure a Xel'Naga artifact from them. While he loathes killing his brethren, he loathes the Tal'Darim's methods more so.

Your one guy can be a soldier. You don't have to be a commander if you don't want to. It's not a must that someone has to be a commander.

The opaque spherical crystal sat neatly in the palm of Felas' hand. His hands completely wrapped around the crystal. It felt cool and light in his hand. He opened his palms and brought it closer to his eyes, observing the red streaks that etched around the diameter of the crystal. For many other who saw the crystal, they would have merely assumed it was some worthless piece of rock that could be found anywhere. They would be right for the crystal showed no indication that it was special in any way, shape or form save for its markings.

Yet they were wrong and Felas knew this. He, a scholar who had studied the Xel'naga and their artifacts knew the true value of this seemingly innocuous object. Finally, after so many years, the culmination of his efforts would be vindicated!

But it was a dangerous artifact even if it was inert for the time being. Proper care must be taken in order to ensure that the artifact did not come to harm or accidentally activated itself. For this, he prepared a specially made casing to handle the crystal.

He laid the crystal on the counter and the necklace casing that he made. He levitated both objects and carefully inched the crystal and the setting together. The crystal began to hum softly as it approached the necklace. It's opaqueness turned translucent and glowed a dim red color. Xel'naga runes began to appear on the crystal's surface until they stopped. Knowledge you seek, and Knowledge you shall receive read the runes.

Indeed thought Felas. With that, he effortlessly pushed his hands closer, combining the setting and crystal as one single pendant. The pendant released a small shockwave through the room and destroyed the dilapidated and ancient walls of the worldship.

He was unharmed. Silence once again filled the forlorn hallways. It was done. The artifact was secured and reverted to its initial, inert state where he found it. Now all that was left was to find where the "Halls of the Percursor" was located and the answer to that lied with the ship itself.
=======================
The small Protoss fleet silently warped within the outer atmosphere of the planet cloaked.

"Prelate Razuc, we have arrived. Awaiting your orders," stated the pilot commandeering the a new Protoss vessel called the Prowler.

The Prelate stood at the bridge. He wore a simple battle attire that was loose and light for maximum mobility. His face was wrapped with a finely patterned shawl that was present to him by his teacher, Zeratul, as a gift for completing his trials of the Shadow Walk. The only thing exposed on his face were his two piercing yellow eyes. Both of his arms were fitted with warp blades.

"Good," he began in a deep voice, "We have arrived before the others made their presence. Prepare for insertion! Our objective is to take whatever it is the Tal'darim found and claim it for the Hierarchy! Time is of the essence; we must strike fast and hard before-"

The alarmed sounded. The pilot looked up from his console. "It appears that the Dominion have arrived and we are counting 1...2...6...10, 10 battlecruiser warping in along with a contingent of fighter spacecrafts."

"Already? As if our circumstances weren't complicated enough. With only 100 of us here, we don't have the manpower to take on that fleet let alone a battlecrusier."

The alarm sounded again. "Zerg bio-signatures detected. It appears the Queen of Blades have sent her broods too. The scanners tells me that there are 4 leviathans along with many Zerg air flyers."

"Have they discovered our presence helmsman?" asked Razuc.

"I do not believe so Prelate. We should be able to hide ourselves indefinitely as long as we don't get too close to them."

Razuc tracked the movements of the two factions on his screen. "In the the midst of the chaos, we may be able to sneak in and steal the artifact. For now, give the order to everyone to get ready to leave the ship. I will be heading out also."

The RP officially begins. I will control the Tal'darim and the Daelaam Protoss. If no one wishes to have some control over the Dominion and Zerg, I will do light DM with them to facilitate the RP.

WOOT!

IC: The Merrimack dropped out of warp and the Adjutant's voice came on the intercoms. [All personnel to the drop ships to begin immediate boarding of the Xel'Naga worldship.] I sigh and armor up, finishing the process in thirty seconds. Then I head for my assigned drop ship. I just hope I was being payed enough. Lord knew what the Tal'Darim would do if they ever caught me.

Battle Strengths:

Dominion: 10 BCs and an assortment of fighter spacecrafts
Zerg Brood: 5 Leviathan and many Zerg strains
Tal'Darim: 1 supercarrier, 4 carriers, scouts and limited Xel'naga weaponry
Daelaam Protoss: A single Prowler carrying all of the 100 elite and specialized forces for the mission

Ah, the Worldship is on the planet itself and not in space just in case it wasn't made clear. That is, you must land on the ground where the Tal'darim have entrenched themselves.

I will update the character list once we get past the first page.

Good to know.

IC: Taking my seat, I ignore the bumps in the ride as we descend through the atmosphere, touching down at the forward out post. I pile out with the rest and don't stop to report. I knew the mission. Cut a way in, get the artifact and anything else, and cut a way out. Easy enough. I stop in a treeline and look at the Tal'Darim defenses and see...

...it is heavily fortified. From your vision, the only way forward is through a valley leading to the worldship. The ominous shadows of a supercarrier looms directly over a section of the worldship, perhaps where the engines are located. Immediately, there is a distinct light in the distance as Protoss warriors are warping in.

The radio chimes, "Gentlemen this is the fleet admiral and you know your mission. You are to secure the worldship no matter the cost. Air support will soon come your way. Do not be afraid. Fight for the Dominon and fight for humanity's survival! Hackett out."

Edit:
Be back soon.

Nice ME reference there. lol

IC: I shake my head and start a trek down. "Bloody reinforcements from a bloody super carrier. I can't believe I actually thought this could be easy bloody money." I reach the bottom of the valley as the first charge goes by. "Idiots." I move forward at a slower pace, keeping the proton cannons in mind.

A zealot burst through the door. "Executor Felas! The Dominion has suddenly launched an attack force! We are retaliating as we speak!"

Executor Felas turned around, his eyes seething with rage. "The Dominion are here? Then they seek to taint this holy relic with their filthy hands! They are unfit touch this, let alone see it in its majesty! They shall not have access to this ancient vault of knowledge! Repel the invaders! Do not give any ground to them! Send out the air force! They will see the world burn around them as their ships and crusiers come crashing down upon them!"

"And you Executor?" asked the Zealot.

"I am the only one who is fluent in the language of the Gods. Though it pains me greatly, I cannot participate in battle. I must find out where the "Halls of the Precursors" are located within this ship if some tragedy occurs where we must leave this ship. Now go! Ensure that the enemy will not see the light of day tomorrow! You will command our defenses Telnis."

"At once Executor!"

The zealot leaves and Felas touches his pendant gently. I am no fool. Though my heart pains to see this holy place defiled in the unlikely event we must retreat, I cannot leave until I know where the halls are located. I know they are here.
===
Telnis' hand hovers over a Protoss communication device. "Brothers and sisters! The Dominion have thought it is wise to provoke us and launch a surprise attack. Hah! We will send them a message that we are not to be trifled with. Kill them all! Take no survivors! We are one step closer to Ascendancy! Today is the hour of the Tal'darim!"
===
The first charge of 20 or so marines manage some 20 meters before photon cannons suddenly warp along the edges of the valley and shred them to pieces. The few remaining marines that were lucky attempt to run back but they are instantly vaporized by a strange new beam weapon utilized by a platoon of Tal'darim warriors on hoverboards.
