First thread I have ever created so please dont troll if this a repetitive question, and I am sure it is!
Will Warhounds ever return? I know Blizzard says no, but tell me: How else are we to be able to advance forward in a T/T MU?
WOL, T:T MU is a turtle-fest where winning must dominate the skies to prevent the other from massing Banshee or BCs, while tanks sit in opposite corners seiged up and rine drops are happening at mineral line left and right, how can the CURRENT changes help to prevent this very boring matchup from remaining so boring?
My idea is to actually bring the Warhound back, I know .. not an original idea, but here are some possible tweaks. Please lend me your opinions.
Warhounds will continue having two attacks, Melee and Haywire missle but Haywire missle can only target mech units much like how Ghost's snipe can only target biological units. Secondary attack would be melee (and since Terran are only unit to not have a melee attack, this would make sense) and explanation could be that the mech's missle targeting system cant target biological units. Now the only issue here would be that Terran would bve OP against protoss since that owns Stalkers, immortals, colossus, sentry since most of protoss ball is comprised of mech units right? This would force protoss to have to rethink that age old strategy and would have to use dts, archons, zealots and alot of its new superior air. Sentries would be utilized more vs terran because of the need to hold warhounds back at bay seperate from the rest to prevent focus fire on immortals and colossus. Warhounds would also be good vs zerg who choose only to mass roaches, and zerg would have to go back to using Hydras more (The original zerg monster poster boy, revived) Warhounds would still be weak to muta harass and other air since it wouldnt have an A-A, and it would prevent Terran from massing the nerfed unit instead making them a hard counter for bad decisions or as more of a supplemental unit rather than an "A move" unit which stalkers still hold the torch on.
More importantly, this would deter stupid Terran players from massing seige tanks at their wall and making a 5 minute game become 30 minutes because of annoying turtle bs.
If it helps, default targeting system for the warhound would target ground units before mech units, kind of like how annoying Thor targets air units over ground/infantry units. This would make the above mentioned "A move" from being even less succesful. get a group of lings surrounding these mechs, they would automatically get caught up in melee attack removing their ability to target roaches unless focus fire. At this time, roaches can close in and minimize the advantage. Same can be said about any basic units.
Build order could require a factory and an engineering bay since its not T3 unit shouldnt require an Armory, but would prevent it from being too fast a build.
Also, lets remove the name "War Hounds" and bring back the Goliath tag with similar design!
