StarCraft® II

Names of New Evolved Zerg Campaign Units!

I was cruising on the Starcraft wiki and it looks like they have been able to pull some names for some of the new evolutions of Zerg in the campaign, which I will post here :

Zergling (Raptor - Swarmling)

Baneling (Gorgeling - Splitterling)

Roach (Leech - Prowler - Scavenger)

Queen (Larval Queen - Swarm Queen)

Ultralisk (Gigalisk - Magnathar)

Swarm Host (Carrion - Creeper)

Locust (Harpy)

Lurker (Impaler)

Mutalisk (Fiend - Fury)

Viper (Cobra)

There are also some names of some individual new Zerg units in the game, probably unique in the sense that the Odin was for the campaign :

Incubus

Behemoth

Klurken

Magnasaur

Mantis

Miasmalisk

Nihilisk Siegeling

Terrorling

Trichinella

What do you think these new units do? We know that the Raptor will gain the ability to charge units as well as jump cliffs, and the Gorgeling will give back resources for what it dissolves, so what are your thoughts? I'm super excited for this new campaign and can't wait to see what Blizzard has in store for us.

please show your reference site because I would like to verify your claims as some of these do not fit some lore names

e.g. Torquese

It has a list over on the Starcraft Wiki (just Google it). If you look at the Heart of the Swarm, it shows units, plus their evolutions. Mind you it doesn't say what they do (unless it has already been revealed like the Raptor). I think they were able to find it from the HotS Beta files (like the 'Zerus' map tileset.

Awsome list~!

It is an interesting list. Although, I wonder why there aren't any special Overlord or Overseer evolutions. Weird.

Hmm, I'm skeptical, but I'll take a shot:

Scavenger

Probably a Roach that is able to leech attack/armor/health of some sort from fallen allies/enemies?

Larval Queen

Definitely a Queen with better Larva Inject and macro abilities.

01/08/2013 03:12 PMPosted by Aradan
Swarm Queen

Maybe it's a Queen with in-battle support powers? Like the Brood War Queen.

Gigalisk

Probably just a super-sized Ultralisk.

01/08/2013 03:12 PMPosted by Aradan
Magnathar

I have no clue. Maybe it's like the opposite of a Gigalisk. Fast and nimble.

Carrion

Based off the name, I'm going to assume it has some sort of resurrection ability. Whether it's used to reanimate enemies or allies or just Locusts...I don't know.

Creeper

Uhhh...better Locusts? Maybe the Swarm Host spread creep?

01/08/2013 03:12 PMPosted by Aradan
Harpy

Flying Locusts! Ha!

01/08/2013 03:12 PMPosted by Aradan
Impaler

Obviously it's a Lurker with stronger spines, maybe with a passive spell related to the spines.

01/08/2013 03:12 PMPosted by Aradan
Fiend

Maybe the Mutalisk gets a passive aura that debuffs enemies? Or something like that? Maybe the Mutalisk becomes invisible?

01/08/2013 03:12 PMPosted by Aradan
Fury

Greek god of anger. Stronger overall Mutalisks?

01/08/2013 03:12 PMPosted by Aradan
Cobra

No idea, though it obviously has something to do with the spells lol...

01/08/2013 03:12 PMPosted by Aradan
Incubus

Transport?

01/08/2013 03:12 PMPosted by Aradan
Behemoth

Maybe a super Ultra-like unit?

01/08/2013 03:12 PMPosted by Aradan
Klurken

Burrowed unit probably. Like a deadly moving monstrosity with hungry Nydus Worms as arms.

01/08/2013 03:12 PMPosted by Aradan
Magnasaur

Dragons?

01/08/2013 03:12 PMPosted by Aradan
Mantis

No idea. Anti-air?

01/08/2013 03:12 PMPosted by Aradan
Miasmalisk

A...a...no clue.

01/08/2013 03:12 PMPosted by Aradan
Nihilisk Siegeling

Maybe a siege-breaker unit that acts like a super Zergling?

01/08/2013 03:12 PMPosted by Aradan
Terrorling

Some sort of sabotage unit.

Trichinella

A real life Trichinella is a parasite. So...yeah, this unit is some sort of parasite.

I saw these too. The names give us very little clue as to what they actually are, unfortunately. This is the only picture I have to go off of:

Here are my bets as to what they do.

- One of the Ultralisks would certainly have burrow charge. I don't know which one.
- The Creeper (spiky SH) would get an attack, and the Carrion (bubbly SH) would spawn Harpies.
- The Behemoth IS the Zerg massive space travelling creature, which is so big it has it's own atmosphere, allowing transportation of units. I don't know how it can be implemented.
- The Scavenger is a merc Roach group, due to there already being two splits.
- The Cobra's blinding cloud would have a DoT effect, while the other evo would change Abduct.

As for a link to the actual page, here is an extended list:
