How do i make a ability cost items?

If i wanted to have a ability that built a structure, and it would cost two different items. How would i do this while also destroying the required items?

Have the ability fire an empty set effect, then run a trigger off of "effect used" to validate your items, destroy them, and order the build.

There’s a flag on items to destroy themselves when they run out of charges (KillWhenDepleted). If the items and the ability share the same charge information, then the items should get destroyed when the charges are used up. The only catch would be that if you had multiple items with charges, they’d all share the same charge pool.
