Crazy Protoss Strategy:
Open standard expand into blink.
Build a robo and make a TON of observers.
Proxy lots of pylons.
Expand cross map and spread out. (a few cannons would help)
Build lots of warp gates and proxy them at your separate bases. Hide them in grass or vision blockades.
Spread out your 20 observers (only send a few into their base, your observers should cover the entire map and the air routs from their main)
Hide your tech structures like forges and cyber cores (1st cyber core in your main, have a back up proxy. Same with twilight council)
Eventually get 1 or 2 more proxy robos if you need more observer production. If not get some stargates. (proxied and spread out)
Early Game: Standard blink opening. Safe and all.
Mid Game: Spread out your expansions and spread out your proxy warp gates. Get a lot of observers. Counterattack and base trade like a jerk.
Keep observer levels healthy with phoenixes (defend the skies) and shut down nearly ALL harass (Widow mine drop, Oracle Harass, bio drop, mutas, you name it since you have those extra observers at their air paths).
Warp blink stalkers anywhere from around the map and start attempting at base races/trades. Phoenixes can take care of flying terran buildings too.
Attempt at warp prisms if your observer count is healthy. Warp prisms can go harass and clean out bases with chargelots (get charge too derp).
Rebuild and evacuate workers during base trades (you have those observers to provide vision)
DO NOT GO DT! That would make the player get mobile detection and discover your fleet of observers. GAME OVER. Use phoenixes aggressively so the player won't be too keen in getting mobile detection. (if it is pvp kill their observers asap before they discover not 1 but all 20 of your observers floating in mid map).
Don't move observers around much so terrans won't scan and zerg/protoss won't get suspicious.
Your mid game comp:
Blink stalker/observer/phoenix combo for vision and base trades
Immortal/chargelot/warpprism combo for base cleaning and improved base defense (you can't let them kill ALL your bases, support with cannons)
Late game: Shift into storm archons (make use of your gates) and get tempests. The tempests can abuse your observer coverage and they can be saved after battles. Gather up a bit now. If you can, SECURE some of your bases and lock down your opponent's expand possibilities.
To upgrade, hide your upgrade tech building away from your bases. Your opponent won't waste time to check the whole map since your "army" is probably in their main. Chrono the upgrades heavily if you can spare so you'll get them finished fast.
Have a few bases locked down with cannons and immortal zealot so you would at least have SOME stable income. Your secure bases should be cross map from your main so it would take a while before your opponent realize that it is there (your counter attacks would keep them busy anyways), giving you more time to set up a stable defense.
Always rebuild your main and nat so it would give your opponent a reason to come back and ignore other proxies around the map.
Vs bio get a faster storm and archons by mid game. Nullify ghosts with blink stalkers and excessive observer coverage.
Haven't tried this but it is free and open for hots beta innovation. This build can shut down lots of hots options including reapers (blink open with lots of vision), oracles (phoenixes and blink to shut down opposing phoenixes), widow mine (observer coverage and phoenixes to kill drops). Great anti meta too since...
- Ultra ling gets shut down by immortal chargelot
- Broodlord infestor corrupter gets killed by tempest ht archon blink
- A mecher would be surprised to see tons of stalkers blinking in. Hellbats useless. Widow mines spotted and taken out easily.
- Sky toss would also get soft countered due to your emphasis on anti air units, phoenixes, blink, tempest, templar.
- Standard colossus ball never works in hots.
Only bio can really shut this down but really... if you go bio in hots beta... *reported*
