The Advances of Mankind PreRP

The year is 1996. For years, Earth has been divided into several alliances, operating like single countries. On one side, The Workers’ Socialist Party of Asia. On the other side, The Capitalist Alliances of Europe and North America, called ASP and CAENA respectively. Tensions have been building, and now, with intelligent life found in the solar system, they’re racing to find it first. On the surface, it’s simply two alliances racing to build the first spacecraft that’s good enough. But secretly, much, much more is going on.

ASP Intro: Welcome, to either the ESD ( Engineering: Space Division) or the SSFP (Special Space Forces Program). If the ESD, you will be assigned with helping create and fly the planned spacecraft Zeus. You’ll be critical to the success of this mission, so do not fail your country! If the SSFP, [Classified] will be your objective, as will the [Classified] of [Classified].

CAENA intro: You will be assigned to SRA ( Space Research Association) where you will be tasked with the creation of the Washington, the craft that will take you up to space, where you will be taken into contact with alien life. You might also be tasked to the MPP (Mercenary Protection Program), where you will protect the Washington from sabotage, perhaps doing some yourself.

Hello, what have we here?...

This is going to be decidedly interesting, to say the least...

I may just have to break my rule of no more than three RPs and join up...

BTW, if this doesn't take off (which I highly doubt, no pun intended either) I'd recommend giving it another go once there are less active RPs.

Accepted, though be warned, lack of loyalty could become....an issue.

Heh. That was sort of the whole idea.

The whole idea behind him is that he's got some rather... delicate info locked up in his head. He gave the ASP (most of) this info in exchange for work and protection. They would have loved to have gotten rid of him earlier, but his skills make him exceedingly valuable. On the flip side of the coin, his skills also make him incredibly hard to "remove"...

Just keep in mind, if the gov't wants you dead, you're as good as dead, no matter how skilled.

Oh, he's totally killable, (though I'd rather he didn't die) is just that killing him isn't worth the effort. Namely the fact that they'd need a ten man team that would probably end up with at least a 50% casualty rate.

Eh...if that's your philosophy with him, he may need nerfing. I mean, he'd probably be toast against an advanced combat soldier. (Think Spetsnaz)

What makes you think this guy wasn't Special Forces as well?

All I'm saying is that he's one of the best. I'm not going to make him survive a rocket (50 cal, etc.) to the face or anything stupid like that.

Because he's 35, and he's in SSFP. He's specialized in things that aren't direct combat, but well trained in sabotage and other such duties.

If his age is too young for having been in Special Forces as well, then bump his age up to 38-42 some-odd.

In Russia, the youngest Spetsnaz member is 23, so 35 year old is very realistic.

War, I'll be honest here, it doesn't work like that. Your char, along with the chars of everyone else, will have their limitations. Sorry, but that's the way it has to be. I'm just warning you now, piss of the government, you'll get a bullet in your head.

Zarkun: But being in multiple, extremely elite organizations? That's something that's basically impossible, even in a lifetime. For one thing, why randomly switch him from elite soldier to saboteur?

And the Spetsnaz are !@#$ing crazy as hell. I'll make a sheet, not now though... Busy with a couple of things.

You realize that he never mentioned anything about switching from an Elite Soldier to a Saboteur. At least, not that I can see.

I bumped up his age a little, so it makes more sense.

Lets say that he was special forces but ended up in the KGB only to go AWOL later.

Warhawk, I'm sorry, but you CANNOT be overpowered. You have got to have limitations, etc..I'm fine with you being particularly good at something for your organization, but if you are to get into a firefight with an elite squad, you're going to be at a huge disadvantage. So basically, he can be ex-KGB, but only if he was never in the special forces. Also, going AWOL is a no-no, he'd be executed for it.

Zarkun: The implication that he can take on a special forces member when he's only trained in sabotage.
