Severe Lag and Issues Connecting

Before anyone asks me, no, Verizon is not my ISP. I'm using AIRBaud.

Lately I've been getting some severe lag and having issues connecting. Right now it was hard enough to get past the launcher that's stuck on "initializing..." and now I can't even connect to Battle.net and enter my account password to log in.

Earlier today I was able to log in, but I was getting some really terrible lag. My game was freezing every few seconds, then speeding up to catch up with the game. It's constantly doing this through the whole match.

I don't have anything running in the background. StarCraft 2 is the only thing using the internet at the time. McAfee Total Protection has the necessary ports forwarded (never had an issue with McAfee before any way). I'm wired, not wireless. I've connected directly to my ISP.

Any ideas on what's wrong?

Anything, please?

I have been having the same problems since the last update. I would also like to know how to fix this. Up until the last little while, my game has been fine, running smoothly at high graphics. Now the game is lagging on low graphics.

Can you run a trace route and pathping? We might be able to see what's going on.

I ran the tests, the trace route timed out after the 11th test. I don't think it is a network issue as I have played fine on several networks (I travel between my school apartment and home often). Would you like the results of the tests to be messaged to you?

Dan, in your case, it does seem network-independent, so I'd reset things back to defaults by deleting the Battle.net cache, Blizzard Entertainment folder, and Variables.txt file from the C:\Users\<username>\Documents\StarCraft II folder.

It seems to have resolved the issue a little bit; however, the game still lags whenever in a mass battle. Would a re-installation of the game resolve the problem? Mass battles have never been a problem for me in the past.

You can try running the Repair tool first, and I'd boot into a Selective Startup as well.

Can you run a trace route and pathping? Can you bypass the router for now, and connect straight to the modem?

I don't have a modem, but I can bypass the routers. I'll see if I can do that tonight (don't want to interrupt both of my brothers connection).

Sorry for the delay. After looking a little further into the problem, the issue may be my ISP.

I'm supposed to be getting 6Mbps download speed and I'm only getting up to 2.5Mbps.

I'll talk to my ISP and see if I can get things sorted out. I'll let you know if the problem persists.
