Project Redblade- PRP Signup and Discussion

<4 years, 2 months after the Brood War at a secret Dominion Hybrid Research Facility>

The doors of the conference room came open with a pneumatic hiss, and in strode a tall, imposing figure in Military garb, medals covering his pressed dark blue generals' jacket.

"G.. General Krutz! Wel-" a scientist stammered.

"Emperor Mengsk demands to see Project RedBlade's results. We need these Successors fielded immediately; The Zerg stir."

"B-but sir," the scientist spluttered. "We have not managed to successfully combine human psionic and Zerg DNA. The virus is simply too strong! We are years away from producing a sentient specimen."

"Damn you!" General Krutz thundered. "Our ghost corps are being depleted faster then we can train them, not to mention half of our psionicly gifted youth are going to your blasted program! Emperor Mengsk demands results! Show me what you have."

Terrified, the scientist nodded meekly and led the General along with a few off his associates down a series of tunnels until they reached the holding cells.

The small group of Dominion scientists and war officials walked down the row of cells, the pair of marine escorts shadowing closely, as the tortured inhabitants of the cells slunk back into the shadows, or flung themselves at the energy fields containing them, hissing, screeching, roaring. Less then half human, more then half zerg. All were monsters, experiments gone horribly wrong. One chittered mindlessly, a girl in shredded prison drab with large mandibles protruding from her face, its limbs twisted and irregular. Another with a zergling looking head and limbs shrieked and threw itself repeatedly toward the energy barrier and the spectators beyond. With each crashing impact, bones grinded and shattered, stabbing through the creatures carapace. With one last weak frenzied body slam it shuddered and lay still. The Dominion officers were visibly sickened, and one failed to retain his lunch as another specimen appeared to turn itself inside out.

Each experiment seemed more maddened and out of control then the last to the General until one caught his eye.

"Wait!" he called out. "What about that one?"
The scientist turned to look, and was astonished to see nothing more then a boy, no older then 16 sitting glumly in his containment cell. Bracing himself, the scientist leaned in for a closer look, expecting to boy to suddenly... well.. anything. The boy met his gaze briefly, then looked away, a clearly frightened expression on his face. The scientist, more then confused, activated the status panel by the cell and read the information to himself under his breath.

"Subject Drake Reynelds... splicings began Thursday... test batch #089: Zerg Larvae DNA... results negative.. no Zerg DNA detected." Odd, he thought. Must just be an instrumentation error of some sort.

"I need to check the equipment in the cell briefly" he announced to the group as he gestured the escort forward. The virtual keypad beeped as he punched in the code. The Double set of armored doors swung open, and the first marine entered the room, the scientist and the second marine following closely. The boy shrank from the intruders, cowering away in the far corner while the scientist checked the automated splicing equipment arrayed in the cell. He pressed a fingerprint-activated panel and a small display screen appeared. The screen read that there was a small jam in the delivery system of one of the mechanical probes which he quickly fixed with a small electronic multi-purpose tool. Double checking the internal equipment, he confirmed the outer panel's reading: No Zerg DNA detected.

He gave a small, involuntary sigh of relief, and the two marines turned to leave the cell as the scientist announced to the attentive group on the other side of the energy barrier: "It was an equipment malfunction. He's just a boy." The scientist's chest blew outward and his entrails splattered over the blueish forcefield. Hydralisk spines riddled the rear marine's back armor as well and he fell without a sound. The second marine turned and began to fire blindly into the cell, but a massive pair of claws separated his legs from his body with a sickening crunch of armor and bone. The massive Hydralisk burst from the cell and reared itself up, screeching its rage. The horrified group of Terrans ran, screaming in terror, and General Krutz pulled out a large revolver, firing three rounds before he was pinned to the wall by more spines, dripping with venom. The boy was nowhere to be seen.

The next few members of the group were annihilated with contemptuous ease, dying with looks of confusion and terror frozen on their faces. The last scientist spluttered out his final breath, reaching for the alarm only centimeters away.

The last survivor, a young man of about 18, who had come in with the Dominion war officials, cowered petrified in a corner, gazing at the slowly advancing beast. The young man (more of a boy really) had an innocent, tanned youthful face and had soft blue eyes. He was obviously one of the Dominion's draftees, forced into learning leadership and tactics instead of riding speeder bikes and chasing girls like a normal kid his age.

He watched, terrified as the Hydralisk slithered closer, and stopped a few feet in front of him. Shaking, he slowly looked upward, and his eyes met the Zerg's. There, in the fiery depths of the monster's eyes was... intelligence? The Hydralisk held his gaze for several moments, and then, slowly, turned away.

He is not like the others, he is not tainted the Hydralisk thought, slithering down the shadowy hall away from the young officer in training. Gradually the dark silhouette of the Hydralisk shifted, shrunk, into that of a boy's.

The false look of fear that he had worn in the cell was completely gone. In it's place was an entirely new visage, he seemed taller, broader, and on his face was a look of vengence.

And now to free my brethren he thought, changing into a zergling now, tearing open a ventilation shaft, and melting into the shadows.

Yes i know that was a long intro... and no one is going to read it... but yeah anyways! Drake means to free his brethren (or sisteren haha), which are you. You may choose to be a Successor like Drake, or a failed mutation of your design (your posts must sound maddened and insane if you choose this, and no ultralisk-mutants or anything big like that haha) The story will begin when i feel we have enough players. We will be attemping to destroy the lab, kill the mad scientists who made us into what we are, and ultimately escape. You must be zergy, no protoss hybrids or pure terrans (sorry).

EDIT: For clarification purposes I will define Successor and Mutant

Successor: Code name for the next-gen ghosts Mengsk ordered created. Along with Protoss/Zerg hybrids, Terran/Zerg and Terran/Protoss hybrids were also experimented with. After a short time, Protoss DNA was declared too complex to splice with that of a Terran and the creation of Zerg/Terran hybrids was pursued in earnest, under Project Redblade. Years of uncontrollable Infested Terran-esque results finally yielded success when a new set of DNA was tried: Zerg Larvae. The resulting beings have human and zerg DNA so finely grafted it is nearly undetectable. They can shift into zerg creatures at will, and will occasionally do so uncontrollably according to their emotions. Most Successors have a favorite Zerg morph which is often more powerful. All Successors resent what is done to them and wish to wreak their vengeance upon the scientists who created them. Some have memories of their past life as a human. Others are lost in the splicing process. They appear fully human.
-Note- Ability customization of a Successor character is encouraged, however the changes will need to be run by me first.

Mutant: A failed Successor experiment. Mutants are not imbued with Larvae DNA, but can be a mix between humanity and one or more zerg species. Many reflect insanity and bipolar personalities. Like with Successors, some remember their past, but many are shaped and molded beyond recognition, reborn in their madness.

Has several small holes on her back, which houses the organisms she is host to, along with several small spikes. Retractable arms hide within her shoulder-blades (Which are similar to the front legs of a Carrion Swarm Host). Along with that, she has the mouth-guard found on the same organism she is based from. Looks roughly around 18 years of age.
Mutations/Zergy powers: Living Biological Host (Swarm Host)
Personality/Insanity: Happy and cheerful, constantly curious. Speaks to herself out loud often, and shows little regard to her allies. Sociopathic tendencies (Loves to kill people)

Gender: Male
Physical Description: Orange eyes with slit pupils. Jet black hair that goes down to his shoulders and put into a ponytail. Many sharp serrated teeth within his mouth. Fingers that end in claws, and carapace gauntlets. He has a good amount of muscle mass and is very thin.
Mutations/Zergy powers: Zergling (Enhanced senses, Night Vision, Enhanced Adrenal Glands, Heightened Metabolism, Enhanced Speed, Enhanced Strength)
Personality/Insanity: Process caused Schizophrenia. One personality happy, kind, but shy. Other personality is cruel, angry, and reckless. Second personality always comes out during battle and if gets enough blood, sees all as foe. Second personality is partially sadistic. Enough of an overwhelming sight/smell of blood brings out second personality. Second personality named Atrox.
Backstory: Lekri was grew up in the slums of the great city Tordelii. His parents thought they couldn't have asked for a better child, especially considering their situation. When the Dominion had come for Lekri, his parents did not stand in their way, as they believed it would give their son a better life. They were very wrong.
They experimented on Lekri, and as the Zerg traits developed, so did Atrox. Atrox started out as something small. A voice whispering in Lekri's head, and not very often. At the peak Atrox started speaking to Lekri about things, and sometimes Atrox was the controller of the boy's body, destroying the machines in his cell, and when Atrox subsided Lekri would sleep and the scientists would continue their tests.
This would be his life until he would be freed.

<TheLostMorph>
Name: Raine
Gender: Female
Physical Description: 5'5", long auburn hair, lithe and athletic, looks to be about 16, Sapphire eyes that turn gold when morphed
Mutations/Zergy powers: A Successor
Favorite Morph: Normally Gold colored carapace with silver swirls and other markings, Deep and intelligent gold eyes, Evolved Zergling Strain: Aspiritaling: About twice as large as a zergling with wings, similar to those of a Viper, that fold up to look like an enlarged version of a zergling with metabolic boost. Has the ability to control the pigments in its carapace similar to a chameleon and to leap a good distance like a Raptorling. Capable of gliding.
Personality/Insanity: Calm, loving, tends to go feral when angered, enjoys helping her brothers and sisters, Hates the dominion for what they have done yet at the same time almost thanks them, Shy about how she feels
Backstory: [Data Corrupted]

<Dahrkenrahl>
Name: Julia Rale
Age:15
Description: tall for her age, with dark hair and pale blue eyes, when a human
Mutations/Zergy powers: a true successor, Her psionics are on the weak end for successors, and she prefers to use them in non brute force ways as a result. Her focus is also more mental than physical, more involved in making the enemy not fight at all as opposed to stopping him once he has started.
Favorite form: she prefers the queen form, as it is a support position, which is where she believes that she belongs on a battlefield. She had made some modifications to the base genetic structure, of course. Her queen form has projectiles that can be launched at any angle, allowing farther range against ground forces, as well as a larger focus on transfusion in exchange for the normal hive expanding abilities like spawn creep tumor and larvae, as she does not plan to be working in a hive any time soon. Her features in this form are also slightly more aesthetically terran, although this is more psychological for her than of any real value.
Personality/insanity: a scientific mind, and raised to be so, she is less angry with the experiment period, and more with the fact that it was performed on unwilling subjects. As a result she will be less disgusted with the condition, and more curious as to its limitations and powers. She still considers herself fully human, as humanity to her is less biology and more psychology.
Backstory: raised on an inner world, she was given a good life by dominion standards, education, mostly with the help of her father, an innovative scientist and researcher, specializing in quantum phenomenon and theory. Under his care, Julia and her brother Matthew excelled in the sciences and in other areas. Julia was more scientifically minded, while Matthew was attracted to the engineering and applied side. The dominion discovered her psionic potential, and dragged her off to testing.

<Vultureling>
Name: Hneahgh
Gender: Male
Physical Description: Looks like an average 16 year old with brown hair and rainbow eyes (change color based on mood, so just before he becomes Baneling-y) until happy/excited/mad/sad/angry/bored/anything.
Mutations/Zergy powers: Mutant (Baneling, Baneling. Doesn't entirely explode upon attack, merely a sac of Baneling juice. Must recharge.) Hneagh's baneling sacs are located in several sneaky places, and he is immune to his own poison (please?), so an effective last-resort attack is to discharge all those sacs on him at once. Doesn't look pretty for anything in the radius, including his precious hair and beer.
Personality/Insanity: Flat-out insane, though is human enough to appear sane for a few hours on end. Sometimes.
Backstory: Hneahgh used to be named Bob. Bob was a normal Terran boy, until slight psionic powers forced him away from his pals and his illegal drinking. Alcohol, it appears, reacts unfavorably with the baneling mutation. As such, he looks like a "normal" baneling Mutation, or at least as normal as the other two. However, the beer has blocked him from fully exploding, so he flings parts of himself/beer.

Hmm... looks interesting, I'll consider it. Also, I would recommend introducing yourself in Zanon's PRP Bar.

edit: Not sure if starting your own RP just yet is a good idea. I'd join one first to see how things work, but your choice I guess. Looks good so far though.

He has demonstrated his writing ability and surpassed my expectations for a first time poster by leaps and bounds. I would very much like to see how this goes.

@DeadViper

Greetings.
My name is Zanon. I am a regular at Joeyray's and the unofficial forum sheriff of Joeyray's.
My (unofficial) job is to give a brief orientation to new RPers at Joeyray's Bar. This includes relevant facts about myself and others.

The first and most important thing is: BLIZZARD'S CODE OF CONDUCT.
You can find this on the bottom of any page on the forum. In them you will find all the things that they can ban you for.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Thundercrash (He isn't here right now) knows what he is talking about, but really any of the people here can be counted on to answer a serious question.

As a courtesy to others, do not kill their characters. Also try to keep your punctuation in top form. We have a lot of perfectionists here, as this is primarily a story forum.

Have fun.

More information is available on:

----------IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT ME----------
I am an easy going person but, if you post something that contains x-rated or downright disgusting material I WILL REPORT YOU.
I have reported two people for this, and they were both PERMANENTLY banned.
----------End note----------

I have to agree with you there Zanon.

Viper, this looks really interesting and unique, something our little corner of the forums is in need of. The only piece of advice I can give right now is to turn this into a PRP (Pre Role Play) thread; Somewhere do discuss the going ons of the RP itself and submit char sheets. This will help keep the actual RP threads from getting clogged up with Out Of Character posts.

Will throw a Char sheet up shorty (I hope)

Okay thanks guys! And have I just have had this idea for quite a while and I wanted to convert it into RP form when I discovered these. And i shall indeed introduce myself at Zanon's PRP bar. For those of you worried about me screwing up... well i will try not to but thats why you guys are writing the story too eh?

Also, @Warhawk
I have since added a slot where you may put in one or two lines of backstory too, if you choose.

Thanks, but I'll probably just end up writing her backstory during the RP itself. (Don't have any ideas on it right now)

Also, please refrain from double-posting and use the edit button. It annoys the crap out of a lot of people.

Alright, ShadowFury! Great Backstory! This is more of what I am hoping for, humanity and the raging fury of the swarm battling it out in the same body.

Also, I am very open to suggestions and would appreciate any feedback from members of the community. Launch is scheduled for mid/later this week. I plan to control Drake as well as sort of narrate and guide the story. I do not have this pre-planned out so don't worry about your character being pigeonholed into doing certain things. A few more participants would be welcomed!

Why did you basically just stick Henry from FE: Awakening into this? Personality-wise, I mean.

Yeah ... I noticed the lack of em beyond your own ... and who knows what chaos will happen in an RP like this ...
EDIT: I have a custom strain and I was wondering if perhaps Raine could use it? I'll post it if you wish to look it over.

Sure i'll take a look! Post it up.
EDIT: Yeah i will allow some customization on the Successors seeing as not all people would react to the splicings the same way, and having all of them have the exact same powers is somewhat uninteresting.

please note this was created pre-HotS release and for another RP which died due to a missing DM/GM. I'm willing for other Successors to incorporate it as well but I'd like for it to at least start as unique to Raine if possible.
EDIT: hmm well that is a good philosophy.

Aspiritaling:
About twice as large as a zergling with wings, similar to those of a Viper, that fold up to look like an enlarged version of a zergling with metabolic boost. Has the ability to control the pigments in its carapace similar to a chameleon and to leap a good distance like a Hunterling. Capable of flight, similar to that of a Viper, and shooting spikes similar to hydralisks but usually found on the ground mixed into groups of zerglings or as ambushing guardians of hives. Often capable of minor telekinesis at a maximum range of about 20 meters and Terran speech.

Okay great! I was thinking that each Successor could have a primary/favorite morph that could be unique. Seeing as my character's favorite morph is a Hydralisk his Hydralisk form will be slightly better. If you choose the Zergling as your primary this version will be permitted, only one thing: Flying zerglings is sort of strange haha. I am okay with wings for gliding short distances but not true flight. Also, no Terran speech while morphed, that is what our human forms are for. All characters in this story possess minor telekinesis to communicate with each other. Sound fair?

EDIT: On second thought, no ranged attack either, as that is not the role of a zergling. I have no problem with englargement, gliding, chameleon, and leaping though. Refer to the updated char entry and sheet to submit changes
