StarCraft® II

R2D

This is a High Fantasy Medieval setting R2D. This means treasure seeking and monster slaying! Adventures that go far and away. Magic, swords, anything you can think of. Go on a journey together! Backstab someone when they aren't paying attention! Anything goes so long as the Die favors you!

How to start:
1. You are a newbie adventurer on a [grand?] quest! BUT! you are an utter and total noob with basic equipment and magic. If you are a noble, you've lost everything and you are starting from scratch. If you are a peasant looking for adventure, you've sold most of your meager belongings for pitiful equipment. In short, you are level 1 but you aren't afraid to reach level 100!
2. Character sheets:
Name:
Race: Human, dwarf, Elf, [A hybrid of the two], [Insert here but highly unlikely]
Gender:
Age:
Appearance: [optional] Deviantart or describe it I suppose.
Backstory: Up to you
Class: Archer, Warrior, Cleric, Thief, Mage, [insert something else]
Equipment: Initial starting equipment will be simple and unnamed and provided to you by yours truly once you choose your class.
Ability: [3 Abilities only, includes Magic]
*Every level will grant an additional ability slot*

Starting point:
In the country of Valne among its many countrysides, lies the fair town of Bainwall where the sleepy inn The Iron Boar is located at. It is nighttime, and the citizens of Bainwall have begun to make their way back to their beds for tomorrow.

However, inside the inn, it is loud and rowdy. Business is good as the barmaids serve the drinks and food to the patrons on the first floor where the cafe is located at.

You will all make your way to the inn or you are already at the inn once your character sheets is done and okayed. Post away one you are there!

=========
Notes:
1. Dialogue does not cost a roll unless you are taunting the target.
2. Walking somewhere will not cost a roll.
3. If there is no lore provided for something or you want to add onto the lore, feel free to create the lore! More often than not, I will accept it and roll with it.
4. You die, you die. Unless...?
5. The die will not be tampered with and what you roll is what you get.
6. Things won't be escalating that quickly like the original R2D. Mostly.
7. Gold can be used in place of crafting/buying equipment. Each player starts with 10 gold pieces.

SUBJECT TO CHANGE: Die rolls, Monster life, Player life, etc.

Providing example of a roll:
We use a D20 die.

Monster goes first:

A thief is attempting to sneak attack Aurelia. A roll of 14 is needed to sense the thief from behind in time. Since she has the ability precognition, she adds a +1 to her roll. Aurelia rolls a 14+1=15, she senses the thief and turns her back around in time.

A more cinematic version will be something like this (can be done to all rolls):
Thief: 14
Aurelia:14+1=15

As the thief cautiously sneaks up on Aurelia with his dagger drawn, Aurelia's precognition couldn't help but feel something bad was coming from behind her. She turned her head around just in time to see the dagger in the air about to come down on her back and rolls quickly out of the way.

With a successful roll, you may get a modifier.

In the event the roll failed, Aurelia will take damage and she may be tagged negatively.

Player goes first
Mark attacks the wolf with his shortsword.
Player rolls a 10 (skill modifiers would be applied here to increase success)
Wolf rolls a 5
Mark successful hits the wolf for 3d7 damage! (more on that later)

A failed arrack results in some monsters countering immediately. Others may not necessarily do so.
Mark attacks the wolf with his shortsword.
Player rolls a 10
Wolf rolls a 16
Player misses the wolf and the wolf bites Player's hand for 2d4 damage!
Player r2d with a 4
Wolf rolls a 7
The wolf bites the player's hand for 2d4 damage!

The same thing would work in the case of spells.

Player vs. Player
Up to the player's discretion.

Damage, Stats, Afflictions and Life Points (LP)
A weapon does xDy damage.
X=how many times you roll a die
Y=# of the sides the die has
So take the earlier example, a shortsword with 3d7 would roll 3 times from 1-7, meaning a possible result would be 4+5+1=10 damage to life.
The wolf has 20 life so now it would have 10. Another damage of 10 would kill it.
Damage modifiers from abilities would modify the X and/or Y values.

In the event a 20 is rolled during battle, the damage becomes critical hits which means it is twice as powerful. So a damage of 10 would be 20.

There won't be stat allocation with strength, dexterity, etc. unless people demand it. LP will be determined with a d32 roll. You cannot have less than 20 LP.

Afflictions are just modifiers that cab be inflicted by Players and monsters. They could be Fearful, Bleed, Poisoned, etc.,

Equipment:
Weapons will follow the xDy formula. Note that some creatures may have resistants to swords, hammers, spears, etc.,
Armor will either add to your dodge roll or lessen the amount of damage you take. Or it might not do anything.

Tag scale:

Dead - out of the game unless someone specifically summons him. Cannot roll.

Near Death - could be revived accidentally or on purpose. -2 to all rolls.

Injured - not in the best shape. -1 to all rolls.

Vulnerable - off balance. -1 to Dodges.

Fine - nothing wrong here.

Good - feels pretty good. +1 to all rolls.

Great - things are going very well. +2 to all rolls.

Giddy - sick with happiness. +3 to non-Dodge rolls.

Prepared - ready for anything. +2 to Dodges.

Godlike - SOMEBODY STOP HIM! +3 to all rolls. Cannot be Killed, Exiled, or Injured.

All players begin Fine. If higher than Fine, will lose one rank each turn. If lower, action must be taken to raise rank.

If someone or something attempts to do something nasty to you, you have to Roll 2 Dodge. The die will be rolled for you to determine how much damage you suffer, if any.

In addition to being a qualified operator of the DIce of Power, I also represent the Celestial Court, to which you can appeal if you are Exiled for a couple of turns or if you feel you've been wronged. But don't count on it ^^.

Lore:
A decade ago, Malrot the Black, a powerful Orc chieftain given the highest rank, Sovereign, rallied a great host comprised of orcs, goblins, ogres and the like and rode south from their ancestral home, The Great Steppes to conquer what is now known as Valne.

Valne was once divided into 4 particularly powerful city-states and the warlords that ruled over their respective regions recognized the threat the Orc horde posed and they pledged to stop fighting each other to cooperate in order to meet this new threat. Their cooperation did not go as well as expected. Though their common enemy was Malrot, they were wary of one another and their attempts to play one another resulted in the destruction of two of the city states.

Recognizing the dire situation should the humans fall, the Elves offered to help as they held a long standing animosity with the Orcs for encroaching their forests and they were in good terms with the humans. The Dwarves had no love for humans, but they hated the orcs more for killing the sons of their mountain kings. The Dwarves too lent their hand.

Both warlords were killed in the coming battles leaving a power vacuum to be filled. A man named Mason Beltor rose to the challenge and rallied the remainder of the human army. With the aid of the Elves and the Dwarves, Malrot's army was routed on the Plains of Nasro and Malrot himself personally was slain by Mason Beltor.

In the aftermath of the Ten Year's War, Mason Beltor, now a war hero, established the nation of Valne and easily declared himself king with popular support. However, he had to give up some land to both the Dwarves and Elves for their help.

15 years after he has been crowned, Valne has been flourishing and much of the land was restored to its prior state. All in all, Valne is relatively at ease...

Aurelie Debui readjusted her bandana to cover her elven ears as she made her way inside the inn, heading to the cafe. The soot and grime from traveling covered part of her face, obscuring her elven features. She was a bit tired and drawing attention to herself, especially in such a rowdy crowd would be troublesome. Finding an empty table on the corner of the cafe, she made herself comfortable and signaled one of the barmaids.

"Give me something filling!" she called out to the barmaid.

She ate her meal, paid the bill and kicked back at the chair. Her composure was relaxed but her eyes were racing through everyone in the room. Searching...

Let's see if there's anything worth liberating!

Eletherian makes his way through the inn door. He has heard of this place (as a dwarf, it is his solemn duty to know the name and location of every inn, pub and bar in the land), and knows that while its fare might not compare to the sort he is used to, he doesn't exactly have many other options. He makes his way to the counter, pushing aside overly large humans. Some seem a little surprised at this skinny dwarf's ability to remove them from his path, but the better informed know that skinny or not a dwarf is a force to be reckoned with.

He balances himself precariously atop one of the bar's stools and, hungry and thirsty, tries to get the barkeep's attention.

Attempting to order some food and a drink.

A silken woman came walking into the tavern/inn. It was full of commotion! Life! Excitement! It was a very lovely sight to behold. Then that's when she spotted a filthy person! So far away from a decent hot bath... she must be part wolf from how she's scarfing down her meal. This woman was Nyreen... she was pretty good lookin' then again... most bards were. It was their job to entertain! Sometimes just more than that if information was tight at times; loosening their lips or much much more.

With the eyes of a hawk, Nyreen had narrowed her eye sight to pick a nice little stool or chair! And there it was... in the far corner... yes... her precious chair... So she walked the dangerous walk, swaying a bit, allowing a couple of the others to look... seducing them if needed... making them vulnerable... underestimating her. Then she sat down next to that hungry dirty woman.

With one wave of a hand a barmaid came over. "I would so enjoy a bowl of hot food... maybe some of your finest mead as well!" She gave off a smile towards this barmaid, encouraging her. And with a small nod, the girl went to get the meal.

The barkeep can't see Eletherian, for he is short and skinny; his head barely touches the counter (not literally of course) and the taller and louder patrons gets the bartender's attention instead.

Aurelie chuckles to herself softly as she watches the absurd sight of the dwarf vainly attempt to get the barkeep's attention.

Eletherian is not amused. He takes his frying pan out of his Intrepid Cooking Supply Kit and smashes the barkeep on the knuckles with it in order to draw his attention.

Twenty minutes later, she comes with a splendid feast of roasted pigs, apples, and rich home-brew lager.

Nyreen feels good.

Unfortunately, you miss the barkeep's hand and instead, break his treasured glass mug he was planning to gift to Nyreen. You got his attention now.

He cracks his knuckle and the room goes silent as everyone knows that messing with the Barkeep's stuff is a bad idea, always. The barmaids shuffle back to the cooking area.

"So dwarf, what do you want?"

Nyreen was delighted as she began to feast and that's when she saw that amusing little dwarf! He was so cute!! So tiny and skinny, he was like a teddy bear! So in a turn to make some table talk she decided to converse with the dirty woman next to her. "That guy right there is so adorably short," she was talking about the dwarf/elf of course. It was very amusing to her. And that was when she raised her lager in the air...

Realizing that this is not going very well, Eletherian tries to defuse the situation.

"Sorry laddie. I'm sixty-three and me old muscles don't work so well these days. I was trying to smash a fly on that there counter."

He decides not to mention that sixty-three is quite young for a dwarf and younger still for a half-elf. He also is puzzled by something. He stares in confusion at the shattered bits of glass.

"So... d'ye make yer mugs outta glass 'round here? Mighty odd practice, Ah'must say. Where I come from we always make 'em outta somethin' a wee bit mar durable. Fer obv'yus reasons."

Attempting to calm the barkeep down.

The crowd cheers at the sound of this and even the barkeep himself is happy when Nyreen makes this call. Everyone loves Nyreen even more. The barkeep says he will waive half the price for her.

Nyreen is great!

Thankfully, the Barkeep is in a good mood again. He doesn't pay attention to you but his hand is still gripping to the handle of the broken mug unconsciously.

Now happily drinking the alcohol he didn't pay for, Eletherian tries to address the barkeep again.

"If ye don't mind, laddie, ah think ah may have somethin' t'fix up yer mug there. It be a pow'rful substance we dwarves invented (bein' the master o' craftin' an' all), capable o' fusin' nearly anythin' together with nearly anythin' else. E'ery good dwarf carries a wee bit o' it aboot wi' him. We call it... 'glue.'"

He takes a small vial from his pocket.

It's almost perfect. Almost. The bartender takes a look at the mug and stares at the dwarf.

"Well, that still doesn't excuse you from breaking my precious mug and it isn't in its pristine state. Pay me 2 gold coins and we'll call it even."
