StarJeweled

Pit your puzzle-solving talents against your opponent's. Match jewels to generate resources - and spend them to attack with StarCraft II units, countering your adversary's forces and destroying their base.

Basic Information
  • Category: Puzzle Strategy
  • Modes: Solo vs. A.I., Co-op vs. A.I., Player vs. Player
  • Supports up to 4 players

StarJeweled is a puzzle game where players match groups of jewels according to color and strategically select StarCraft II units to overcome opposing forces and destroy the enemy base. StarJeweled can be played in several ways, including cooperatively against A.I. or competitively against other players.

Each successful jewel combination in StarJeweled provides a burst of energy; the larger the jewel combo, the bigger the energy burst. This energy can be spent to train a variety of StarCraft II units including zealots, banshees, and ultralisks that will help you penetrate your opponent's defenses. You can also use energy to activate abilities that can heal friendly targets and do damage to enemy units. To deploy a unit or activate an ability, simply click on the corresponding icon located beneath the jewel board once you have the right amount of energy.

Since the goal of StarJeweled is to destroy your opponent's base while protecting your own, you'll want to choose which units you purchase carefully. StarJeweled is not only about matching jewels, after all, but also about managing your energy efficiently and understanding how the units in the game counter each other. If you're unfamiliar with all the units' strengths and weaknesses, that's okay; each unit's tooltip (activated by hovering over its icon) includes a list of what it's strong against and what it's weak against. Be sure to use these descriptions to use your advantage and pay attention to what units your opponent is selecting.

StarJeweled games last one round; a round ends when one player's or team's base is destroyed. Defeat your opponent and claim victory!

It's great having games like this inside of StarCraft 2 making it so I never have to turn OFF StarCraft 2 to take a break from standard SC2 play.

Insane AI is actually really easy.

Unless you happen to be slow (<2,500 energy a minute,) then it's not.

So be faster if you want the achievements. <3

@BMiBudster: I can beat 2 insane AIs at once occasionally and 1 insane AI nearly 100% of the time.

It's all about speed. If you don't have it, you lose. Simple as that. Hit me up if you want to play a few games.

@XxTHATGUYxX: Since they re-designed the interface in the middle of the summer, I have a hard time finding the official Blizzard maps, too. They are still out there, though - I found Left 2 Die last week.

@SolaGratia: If they made it so hard to find that we have to go hunting for it the interface stinks. There are also apparently no directions to be found on how to navigate to find this game again. Pity, I enjoyed playing it but if they screwed this up so hardcore I'm not sure I want to see what else is a mess. Pass.

It's pretty tough. I couldn't beat medium AI for a night and then finally I got a win, now I'm working on the hard AI. I got the For The Hoarde multiple times, and got the avatar for healing units, but beating the AI is killing me still. I've tried the mass tank + ghosts, but that just gets countered. I really think it just comes down to how good of a board you start with, past that there doesn't seem to be much you can control.

The only reason its so hard is because the computer is ALWAYS getting combos, just never a large chain, i recomend you get an ultra a few mutas ad constantly put heals apon them, GLHF!

This seems way to hard. Medium is damn near impossible! I'll waste like 15 minutes just to get killed by the stupid AI. It is all about pure luck at the start that you get lucky with the jewels

Something I wanted to add though... the custom game creation/searching is very clumsy. Again, maybe I'm missing something but back in BW it was a breeze to see all the custom games currently hosted and to make your own by navigating your game folders. The SC2 setup has me totally baffled for the most part though I did eventually manage to find and download all of the Blizz mods I'm not even too sure where from x.x.

I... absolutely suck at this. I can barely beat "very easy" and spend about 20 minutes fighting "easy" before finally getting crushed by it. I think I'm not getting something lol... I try to match up the jewels as fast as I can though setting up combos seems to be beyond my mental ability at this point (it almost feels like random luck when combos happen that I don't even expect) and whatever units I spam out get absolutely crushed every few seconds @.@. That said, this is a really interesting UMS implementation.

- TIP BLIZZARD:

The AI is FAR to good, the only way to actually win is by pure luck against the insane or very hard AI...Luck that the jewels just happen to be lined up perfectly. Fix it please, I'm literally going crazy over how hard this is. Hell even the Medium AI is hard, I can beat it - but just barely.
