Next Zerg Unit: Larva
Previous Zerg Unit: Ultralisk
These massive manta-like flying creatures serve as aerial siege units for the Swarm. Only seen in the largest of conflicts, the Brood Lord has the ability to spit out biological symbiotes that function as living ammunition. These regurgitated creatures focus on their target, ravaging it until they destroy it or die in the attempt. This attack makes Brood Lords extremely dangerous to opposing installations. However, despite their impressive offensive abilities, Brood Lords are not very durable, and they make easy targets for most aerial-strike combatants.

Units
Brood Lord
General Strategy
- Anti-ground flying unit.
- Evolves from Corruptor.
- Flings broodlings, which do high levels of damage to ground- based units and can surround them.
- Broodlings cannot attack air units, and have a limited lifespan.
- Effective siege unit due to its long-ranged attack and ability to fly.
Countermeasures
VS Terran
- Build Vikings to efficiently take down Brood Lords without any retaliation. Battlecruisers are also effective against Brood Lords and can destroy them in one hit with their Yamato Cannon upgrade.
- The biggest strength of Brood Lords is their ability to create massive numbers of Broodlings. Take Brood Lords out instantly using ghosts and their snipe ability to prevent this.
VS Zerg
- Anti-air flying units like Corruptors can engage Brood Lords and pursue them throughout an area effortlessly without any fear of being targeted in return.
- Anti-air ground units such as Hydralisks, though obviously less ideal than flying units, can provide a defense against Brood Lords when massed.
VS Protoss
- Brood Lords can be handily dispatched by air units that they can’t reach, such as Carriers, Phoenixes, and especially Void Rays – the Rays’ ’Prismatic Beam’ will quickly wear away at Brood Lords’ hit points.

What?
Only 2 supply (not 4)
Cheap (total 150 mineral and 200 gass than 300 mineral and 250 gass)
Faster attack rate
Moved faster
Made through mutalisk
This was the best unit in StarCraft 1 and was always used
StarCraft 2… not so much
"We felt that the Snipe ability was countering broodlords and ultralisks slightly too well..."
Make up your mind, Blizzard. WTF.
with that said terran who goes bio lategame doesnt really have a good answer to broodlords anymore, best u can do is get vikings and spread them out to minimize the effects of fungal growth. there are serious holes in the game, not from a balance standpoint but from a design standpoint, which make it impossible to really balance the game well until new units are added in the expansion.
also i said that carriers are better than broods not carriers counter effectivly broods...
Granted Stalkers with blink still dominate Brood Lords.
first one: launch broodlings at the pheonixes then they immediatly fall down and take out the stalkers underneath
and the second one: where they stay up in the air...
if that were the case we would see alot of broodlords in z vs anything.
