In order to combat clusters of agile aerial threats, the Dominion created the Liberator; a gunship-class vessel inspired by the old United Earth Directorate Valkyrie. This new generation air-superiority craft boasts twin missile launchers and heavy plating, but its initial lack of versatility brought its operational effectiveness into question. In order to make it more adaptable to different combat scenarios, the ship was fitted with Terran transformation technology and a powerful air-to-ground plasma cannon. The Liberator cannot move when the cannon is deployed, but its immense firepower more than makes up for it.

Flight Manual

  • Armored vessel that is very effective against clusters of air targets—mass Mutalisks, Phoenix, or Vikings.
  • Defender Mode allows the Liberator to transform into a stationary anti-ground siege platform that deals heavy damage to single targets.

Upgrades

Countermeasures

Terran VS
  • Use ground units against Liberators in Defender Mode with caution. Exploit their blind spots, employ proper positioning, and keep clear of their fire zone.
  • Large groups of Marines with Stimpacks or Cyclones can quickly get past the Liberator’s fire zone and eliminate them.
  • Vikings have a range advantage that can be put to good use against small numbers of Liberators.
  • Liberators in Defender Mode cannot target structures; properly-positioned Missile Turrets can keep Liberators away from the mineral line in a pinch.
Zerg VS
  • Use ground units against Liberators in Defender Mode with caution. Exploit their blind spots, employ proper positioning, and keep clear of their fire zone.
  • Large groups of Hydralisks are very effective against Liberators. Root them in place with the Infestor’s Fungal Growth if they try to escape.
  • Use Vipers to pull Liberators in Defender Mode out of position, or bombard them with the Ravager’s Corrosive Bile ability.
  • Liberators in Defender Mode cannot target structures; properly-positioned Spore Crawlers can keep Liberators away from the mineral line in a pinch.
Protoss VS
  • Use ground units against Liberators in Defender Mode with caution. Exploit their blind spots, employ proper positioning, and keep clear of their fire zone.
  • Stalkers with Blink can quickly reach the Liberators’ blind spots to take them down with minimal losses.
  • Take advantage of the Tempest’s massive range to strike at Liberators from afar.
  • Liberators in Defender Mode cannot target structures; properly-positioned Photon Cannons can keep Liberators away from the mineral line in a pinch.
