Units

Queen

During the first Zerg invasion, Queens were able to spawn a variety of parasites that infested Terran structures to create suicide troops under the Overmind’s control. In the aftermath of the Brood War, the new Queens are tougher creatures who now play a limited command role nurturing Zerg nest sites. Their new morphology hints at the incorporation of Terran or Protoss DNA, or perhaps even the Zerg-altered genes of the Queen of Blades herself. This evolution implies that a widespread change is taking place within the Zerg hierarchy, a redistribution of power that will make the Zerg even more difficult to combat.

General Strategy

  • Support unit.
  • Early-game anti-air; valuable for base defense.
  • Can improve production speed with Spawn Larva ability.
  • Can improve mobility by spawning Creep Tumors, which spread Zerg creep. Creep allows structures to be built farther away and makes Zerg move faster while standing on top of it.
  • Can also use Creep Tumors to slow enemy expansion, as non-Zerg races can’t build on creep.
  • Can heal units or buildings with the Transfusion ability.
  • Can burrow with the Burrow upgrade.

Evolutions

  • Burrow: Allows the unit to take cover underground, rendering it unable to attack. A burrowed unit is invisible unless revealed by detectors or effects.

Countermeasures

VS Terran
  • Use high damage ground units, like Ghosts and Marauders, to quickly overwhelm a queen.
VS Zerg
  • Quick, inexpensive, high-damage attackers like Zerglings can swiftly cut a Queen down if they are able to break through base defenses.
  • Thanks to their resilience, Roaches can outlast Queens’ base defenses to reach and defeat them.
VS Protoss
  • Phoenixes, particularly in groups, can harass and slay Queens functioning as base defenders with their Graviton Beam attack.
  • Dark Templar can sneak into bases and quickly dispatch Queens provided they have no detection units (such as Overseers).

Queens are soo beast, once a played a guy who masssed queens and they never die, they keep healing each other, other untis and crawlers. They were like invincible. lol, but at the end i destroyed the creep that made it move fast and killed all of hes expand and won.

I once massed queens ( yes it was kinda werd) but I made them move faster by making 5 creep tumers next to each other and the creep moved super fast (as fast as the queens moved) witch kept them going. But any way it was fun and the queen was the only thing rather than hydras that attacked air. Best part was, I won!

Queens are really great units. Not a lot of people realize it, but all you need is upgrades, which don't cost much, then you hardly need any recourses to build an army. And as for their speed issue, just send an overseer near enemy lines, shoot up a nydus worm, and BOOM. Queens when ya need 'em.
