General Strategy
- Support unit.
- Early-game anti-air; valuable for base defense.
- Can improve production speed with Spawn Larva ability.
- Can improve mobility by spawning Creep Tumors, which spread Zerg creep. Creep allows structures to be built farther away and makes Zerg move faster while standing on top of it.
- Can also use Creep Tumors to slow enemy expansion, as non-Zerg races can’t build on creep.
- Can heal units or buildings with the Transfusion ability.
- Can burrow with the Burrow upgrade.
Evolutions
- Burrow: Allows the unit to take cover underground, rendering it unable to attack. A burrowed unit is invisible unless revealed by detectors or effects.
Countermeasures
VS Terran
- Use high damage ground units, like Ghosts and Marauders, to quickly overwhelm a queen.
VS Zerg
- Quick, inexpensive, high-damage attackers like Zerglings can swiftly cut a Queen down if they are able to break through base defenses.
- Thanks to their resilience, Roaches can outlast Queens’ base defenses to reach and defeat them.
VS Protoss
- Phoenixes, particularly in groups, can harass and slay Queens functioning as base defenders with their Graviton Beam attack.
- Dark Templar can sneak into bases and quickly dispatch Queens provided they have no detection units (such as Overseers).
