Units

Warp Prism

For thousands of years the Protoss have studied the nature of time and space, gaining insight into the universe’s greatest mysteries. Using psionic manufacturing processes, they created a robotic mind whose programming is built into the molecules of an advanced crystal lattice. The resulting device is able to manipulate matter and energy with incredible precision. Warp Prisms are used primarily to transport forces on the battlefield, but they can also be deployed into Phasing Mode so as to power nearby structures if necessary. When Warp Prisms are in this mode, they can temporarily replace destroyed Pylons or enable rapid expansion.

General Strategy

  • Armored transport craft that can ferry units across the battlefield.
  • Can shift to Phasing Mode to project an energy field like the Pylon, which provides power to Protoss structures. The energy field also allows for the warping in of units and construction of structures.
  • Can pick up and drop off units in both Transport and Phasing Mode.
  • Raid enemy bases efficiently by unloading troops in, switching to Phasing Mode and warping in reinforcements via your Warp Gates.

Upgrades

  • Gravitic Drive: Passive bonus to the Warp Prism’s movement speed.

Countermeasures

VS Terran
  • Build Missile Turrets around your mineral line to discourage drops.
  • Build a few Vikings to intercept Warp Prisms.
  • Use Marines, preferably with Stimpacks, to bring them down quickly.
VS Zerg
  • Build Spore Crawlers around your mineral line to discourage drops. Be sure to attack the enemy ships with your Queen as well.
  • Spawn Mutalisks; their flight speed will ensure the enemy will have a hard time getting away.
  • Use Hydralisks and research the Grooved Spines upgrade.
VS Protoss
  • Build Photon Cannons around your mineral line to discourage drops.
  • Use Stalkers and research Blink to more effectively give chase to invading Warp Prisms.
  • Deploy a few Phoenix fighters to eliminate the enemy transports.

@ LOLZERG: Simple, they merely convert the mass of the colossus into a form of transportable energy and then convert it back to matter when dropping it off.

Attack Of 10 warp prisms. Suddenly your zerg base is overwhelmed by dark templars. And More Warp in. You lose. Then Stalkers kill your transporting overlords. Man. You Lose. Epicly.

I have won games using warp prism play. You wait for your opponent to move out then warp in units in there base. Also, by spending 200 minerals you are going to force your opponent to do several things 1 spend money on defenses (which is greater than the cost of the warp prism itself, thus making it worth it just by that) 2 it makes it harder for you opponent to move out thus giving you an easier time of having map control, and 3 I have won multiple games using warp prism drops.

8 Factor for it being a not in high usege unit
1 you can warp in like 20 units from 1 warp prisom
2 its expensive in your army not alot of in battel uses + 2 supply 200 minerals
3 yes its good for renforsing but thats justifys by factor 1 can warp in 20 units from 1 warp prism
4 its building fasility unit bunched with the 2 most maigor grownd units colossus Immortal+detector Observer(flyer)
5 in many cases its ithere mached in speed or slower than grownd units statisticaly
6 players usualy get massed medivacs for the medic part over lords for the control warp prisom for the wight why mass warp prisoms ?
7 thay die faster then most other protoss units usualy better to just run away then warp prism away
8 when droping off it must be in normal mode warp in mode will not let you
thank you for reading and plaeas comment

@lDave: while you probably need a spell check its mostly understandable. I don't agree with most of the points (except for 7 and 5 I agree with them completely). 20 units are fine for small pushes or surprise attacks. How many units are you trying to warp in at a time? you already need 20 warpgates to push that limit. With number 8 why not drop then go into warp mode?. With number 2 you dont need a lot, you just need 1 or two unless your trying to warp in at many places at once and thats not really useful, even if it is its not entirely practical. Also with number 2 you realize that since this can act as a temporary pylon you can use it to throw up quick defenses right? also maybe you could take the warp prism put down the cannons put down a pylon in a position where it'll power it all up once it comes up and then leave. and continue. that would be very effective a bit weak while its being built but that would happen even if you made it with a probe and no warp prism, you'd need a force to defend that but with this its quicker and if its under fire you can just cancel them. (hope that was useful)

@RDJ: What I do is sneak them behind an enemy base, convert it, and use Warp Gates to crank out units right behind the lines. If you do it early and use DTs you can end a game rahter quickly.

IMO the warp prism is good with a 4 gate, simply because u can load up same units, get behind their mineral line, then just warp in reinforcements and crush them. Also, serves as a good replacement to proxy pylons, since they can move.

Dosent it seem like a warp prism would be able to hold alot more units since it just converts them into energy.
