If you are experiencing errors while patching StarCraft, please try reinstalling the game.
- First, uninstall StarCraft by going to Start, Programs, StarCraft, Uninstall StarCraft. Also, uninstall any CD-ROM drive emulation tools that may be installed. i.e. Daemon Tools, Virtual Drive, CloneCD, etc. Disabling these programs may not work; they must be uninstalled completely.
- Move, Delete, or Rename your "maps" folder, located in your main StarCraft folder.
- Insert your StarCraft disc and install the game. If you have the expansion set Brood War, you may also install it at this time.
- Please try closing all other applications that may be running in the background before patching. Anti-virus softwares such as Norton and McAfee are known to cause issues while trying to patch. Check our page on Shutting Down Background Applications for further assistance.
- Now download and install the latest StarCraft patch from the StarCraft Patch Page. If the patch is not available on our website for you to download, simply connect to Battle.net with the game and the patch should install automatically.
