If you are receiving an error message when starting the downloader that says you are running out of date drivers, or you experiencing unusual disconnection issues when playing the game, then you may have a network card and drivers that are known to have issues with our software. You should check the manufacturer's website for driver updates. A list of network card manufacturers can be found on our Hardware Vendor List.
Netgear FA311/FA312 Series Cards
Try the 1.80 version of the drivers from Netgear's Website. If you have an FA311 card and the 1.80 drivers don't solve the issue, you may wish to try the 1.30 drivers, available from Netgear's FTP site. Some customers have also reported success with the following procedure on Windows XP:
- Click Start.
- Click Control Panel. If there is an option in the upper left to 'Switch to classic view', then do so.
- Click System.
- Click the Hardware tab, then click the Device Manager button near the middle.
- Expand the Network Adapters category and double-click on the Netgear card listed there.
- Click the Advanced tab and select Media Type. In the value box, select 100BaseTX Full Duplex.
- If you have a Power Management tab, choose it and uncheck the box labeled 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power'. NOTE: Windows XP is not listed as supported by Netgear for the FA311 and FA312. You can view Netgear's supported list here: http://kbserver.netgear.com/kb_web_files/n101252.asp
Netgear WG111 Series Cards
Many players have reported that using the Automatic "Update Driver" feature in the Windows Device Manager has resolved various issues for this series. Instructions to do this can be found below:
- Click Start.
- Click Control Panel. If there is an option in the upper left to 'Switch to classic view', then do so.
- Click System.
- Click the Hardware tab, then click the Device Manager button near the middle.
- Expand the Network Adapters category and right click on the Netgear card listed there.
- Click the Properties option.
- Click the Driver tab and select Update Driver.
- Windows should automatically search for a driver. Install the driver that it finds for your device.
AN983B Chipset Network Cards by ADMTek
(sometimes also sold under the … "Asound" or "Fast" brands), including, but not limited to:
- Linksys LNE100TX v4 or v5
- Linksys NC100
- D-Link DFE-530TX+
- Skymaster SK1207E
- Planex FNW-9803-T
- This chipset is also the built-in Ethernet controller on the following motherboards (as well as others):
- MSI (Microstar) MS-6378
- DFI NS70-EL & AZ30-EL
- USI PM-845
- Fujitsu D1451

Realtek 8139
If your motherboard manufacturer does not have the latest revision for your onboard NIC, you can download the latest directly from Realtek.
- Try the latest version of the drivers from Realtek's Website.
- After installing the latest drivers, change the duplex settings to full and it should fix the issue.
- To do this, go into your computer properties, and then into your Device Manager.
- Locate your network card, and go into the Properties for it.
- Click on the advanced tab, and you should see a list of items. One of them should be Speed/Duplex settings.
- Change this to Force base 100 Full duplex.
