Patch 4.1 Hotfixes - [Updated 6/1]

Patch 4.1 Hotfixes - [Updated 6/1]

Here you'll find a list of hotfixes that address various issues related to the recently released World of Warcraft: Cataclysm patch 4.1: Rise of the Zandalari. Hotfixes are updates we make on our end without requiring you to download a new patch. Some of the hotfixes below will go live the moment they are implemented, while others may require your realm to be restarted to go into effect. Please keep in mind that some issues cannot be addressed without a client-side patch update. We will continue to update this thread in the days ahead as additional hotfixes are applied.

Patch Information and Support

May 20-June 1

  • Classes
    • Stationary ground effects should no longer move with the casting character if he or she moves (or is moved) from his or her current location.
    • Warlocks
      • It is no longer possible under specific circumstances for players to keep the buff from the now-defunct Improved Demonic Tactics talent.
      • Glyph of Imp should not be increasing the spell damage of all warlock pets by 20%.
  • Dungeons & Raids
    • Blackwing Descent
      • Maloriak now prefers to cast Flash Freeze on caster targets more than 15 yards away. Tank-specialized characters are not targeted, but Flash Freeze can chain onto them. If all the characters in the raid stack up within 15 yards of the boss, they can be hit by Flash Freeze.
    • Throne of the Tides
      • Unstable Corruptions now award much less experience when killed on normal difficulty.
    • Zul’Gurub
      • Shadows of Hakkar can no longer be reflected or deflected.
  • Professions
    • Archaeology
      • The Bountiful Bags guild perk should no longer sometimes incorrectly reward Archaeologists with multiple keystones from dig sites.
    • Skinning
      • Players can no longer continue gaining Skinning skill points using low-level creatures below the intended skill threshold.
  • PvP
    • Arenas
      • It should no longer be possible under specific conditions for the Matchmaking Value shown at the end of an Arena match to be incorrect.
    • Battlegrounds
      • Several changes have been made to Battleground queuing to improve the flow for those who queue for random Battlegrounds versus those who queue for specific ones.
      • The ability for players to retain a second queue for a Battleground after they’ve already entered one has been removed. Previously, players were able to queue for two Battlegrounds, have one queue pop and retain their second queue while they decided if they wanted to join the one that was ready. This is no longer the case. When a Battleground queue pops players will automatically be removed from all other active queues. To queue for a different Battleground it will be necessary to finish the match and queue again. This solves a design issue in that the old system gave players an opening to abandon their teammates if things weren’t going as well as they’d hoped; and it also solves some queue system inconsistencies that were being caused as a side effect of how the old system functioned.
  • Races
    • The goblin racial Best Deals Anywhere should now only be applying to vendors with associated reputations. It no longer incorrectly applies to vendors with no attached reputations, nor does it apply to flight path costs. (Note: the displayed costs for flight paths require a client-side patch to update and are not currently reflecting this racial change). In addition, it is no longer possible for goblin characters exalted with their guild to receive an extra discount on top of the exalted faction discount from guild vendors.
  • Quests & Creatures
    • Gilneas
      • Genn Greymane should now always correctly enter The Battle for Gilneas City, ensuring the event won’t sometimes stall during the final phase.

May 19

  • Classes
    • Death Knight
      • Howling Blast has been reduced by approximately 8-9%.
      • Necrotic Strike's AP coefficient has been reduced from 0.75 to 0.7.
      • Obliterate has been reduced from 160% to 150% base weapon damage.
    • Shaman
      • Healing Surge has been reduced in power by 20%.
    • Warlock
      • Drain Life now deals 25% less damage.

May 5-11

  • General
    • There were several situations on transports or moving objects where players were receiving Movement Enforcement Error messaging, which should now be corrected.
    • Players using Mobile Guild Chat should no longer sometimes receive error messages incorrectly stating they are not in a guild.
    • Mail sent from the Auction House should no longer sometimes display incorrect information about the transaction. This also applies to those using the Mobile Auction House.
    • Parties will no longer disband immediately after all members log out. There is now a 5-minute grace period before the group is disbanded.
  • Classes
    • Characters who are resurrected by a player on a moving platform should now be transferred to the caster’s world position, rather than the location they were in when the spell was first cast.
    • Select classes are no longer able to aggro and pull a single enemy NPC from a linked group through various measures of sneakiness.
    • Druids
      • Stampeding Roar (Cat) should always properly cost 30 energy when used.
    • Hunters
      • Hunter pets no longer lose talent points when a Beast Mastery hunter gains a level.
      • The Disorient effect from Scatter Shot should no longer immediately break if Scatter Shot hits the target immediately after a buff on the target fades.
    • Warlocks
      • Molten Core now correctly enhances all three Incinerate spells cast while the buff is active.
  • Dungeons & Raids
    • The Bastion of Twilight
      • The Blood of the Old God aggro radius during the Cho’gall encounter has been dramatically increased.
    • Blackwing Descent
      • Fiends should no longer cause any quirky despawning issues during the Atramedes encounter, particularly after Atramedes is defeated.
    • Zul’Gurub
      • Kill credit for Kilnara for the Here, Kitty Kitty... achievement can no longer be carried over to the next kill.
  • Items
    • The Miniature Voodoo Mask dropped in Zul’Aman is now a Greed-only item. No class can roll Need on this item.
    • The Voodoo Hexblade and Amani Scepter of Rites are now properly labeled as Main Hand and can only be equipped as such.
  • PvP
    • Players should no longer sometimes become stuck or crash while in a Battleground or Arena queue.
  • Quests & Creatures
    • Players should again be able to successfully complete the quest The Firelord in Mount Hyjal. NPC heroes should be functioning correctly.
    • The Horde NPC Kadrak is visible for players to turn in the quest Mor'shan Caravan Delivery after completing the quest To the Rescue! in Northern Barrens.

May 3-4

  • General
    • An issue was preventing some players from properly mailing account bound items to other characters on the same realm and Battle.net account. If you are still experiencing this issue, we recommend you log into both characters before sending the mail. The characters don’t need to be online at the same time for this to work.
    • Children’s Week quests should no longer be unavailable to players who recently transferred factions.
    • Flying wisp form and flying mounts, both living and dead, can enter bodies of water smoothly.
  • Classes
    • Spells or talents which provide pushback protection should now be functioning correctly (i.e. Burning Soul for mages or Suppression for warlocks). This time we mean it.
    • Rogues
      • Shadowstep is instantly teleporting players behind their target when the target is in motion.
  • Dungeons & Raids
    • Call to Arms rewards will now be displayed in the Dungeon Finder UI while a player is in the dungeon so they know what rewards they will get.
    • Throne of the Four Winds
      • Damage from Ice Storm in phase 1 of Al’Akir is ticking twice per second, which was causing excessive damage on Heroic difficulty. To compensate, the damage per tick has been reduced for Heroic difficulty.
  • Items
    • Players are now able to get a random Darkmoon card inside of a Sealed Scroll Case, instead of always getting a Darkmoon Card of Destruction.
  • Quests & Creatures
    • The Innkeeper's Daughter can no longer be targeted for healing or harmful effects.
    • Players now fail The Crucible of Carnage: The Earl of Evisceration when killed by Lord Geoffery Tulvan during the encounter. Players are able to pick up the quest after it is failed and the event starts again without issue.

May 2

  • Classes
    • Death Knights
      • Death and Decay can be cast correctly on Cho'gall's trapdoor (or other transports).

    • Paladins
      • Consecration can be cast correctly on Cho'gall's trapdoor (or other transports).
    • Rogues
      • The energy gained from both ranks of the Murderous Intent talent is now properly applied immediately after Backstab consumes energy.
    • Shaman
      • The internal cooldown of the mana effect from Water Shield has been doubled.

      • The new rare Archaeology items should now correctly grant skill-ups when crafted.
  • PvP
    • Player should no longer have issues resurrecting and using graveyards in Battlegrounds under certain conditions.
  • Quests & Creatures
    • Mount Hyjal
      • Twilight Juggernauts are now immune to Death Grip and cannot be moved from their location without being engaged. Players are still able to engage and kill the creatures while on the quest Disassembly.

      • The quest item Krom’gar Flame Thrower for the quest  Ashes to Ashes is now zone-bound.

April 28-29

  • Classes
    • Some interrupts were still incorrectly missing targets. Wind Shear, Spell Lock, Counterspell, Mind Freeze, and hunter pet abilities Nether Shock and Serenity Dust should no longer miss.
    • Characters who mount up with a pet bar active should no longer lose control of the pet if they dismount while under the effects of any crowd control.
    • Priests
      • Divine Aegis will no longer produce a shield if the full heal that should cause it is absorbed by a death knight’s Necrotic Strike.
  • Dungeons & Raids
    • The Satchel of Exotic Mysteries given to the member(s) of a class role eligible for Dungeon Finder: Call to Arms rewards now has an increased chance of containing a non-combat pet.
    • The Bastion of Twilight
      • The timing between Corrupted Adherent Summons and Cho'gall Fury is consistent with its behavior prior to 4.1.
    • Blackwing Descent
      • Maloriak no longer interrupts his own casts of Arcane Storm by moving mid-cast.
      • Nefarian will no longer stutter step toward his main target.
    • Zul’Aman
      • All non-elite creatures which respawn quickly no longer award loot, reputation, or experience.

      • All non-elite creatures which respawn quickly no longer award loot, reputation, or experience.
      • Gurubashi Villagers and Gurubashi Refugees no longer drop epic loot.
      • Ohgan will no longer fail to target and kill Chained Spirits if he is stunned at certain times.
  • Guilds
    • Guilds close to level 25 should correctly receive the realm-first achievement (when applicable), regardless of whether or not contributing members recently transferred to the realm.
  • Items
    • Players are no longer able to purchase any of the city reputation satchels without having the required reputation.
  • Professions
    • Engineering
      • Nitro Boosts now do 80% of the engineer’s health in damage over 8 seconds when they fail due to a Rocket Fuel Leak, down from 120%.
  • Quests & Creatures
    • NPCs should be a little less talkative when interacted with. They were saying their lines on virtually every interaction (buying, selling, etc.).
    • Mount Hyjal
      • Arch Druid Hamuul Runetotem is no longer incorrectly visible at the Shrine of Malorne after players complete the quest Firefight while on the quest Aessina's Miracle.
      • Players should again be able to successfully complete the quest The Firelord.
    • Rise of the Zandalari
      • The quest Bwemba’s Spirit should no longer complete prematurely for select players when others nearby start the quest event with their spirit version of Bwemba.

April 27

  • General
    • Disconnecting immediately after dying no longer causes players to lack a Release Spirit button upon logging back in.
  • Classes
    • Spells or talents which provide pushback protection should now be functioning correctly (i.e. Burning Soul for mages or Suppression for warlocks).
    • Druids
      • Predator's Swiftness being active will no longer prevent Omen of Clarity Clearcasting from being consumed when it should be.
    • Hunters
      • Marked for Death is now applied properly to the target of Arcane Shot or Chimera Shot, allowing for focus macros (i.e. /cast [@focus] Chimera Shot) to apply Marked for Death to the focused target and not the primary target.
      • The Recluse Hatchling can correctly be targeted, attacked, and killed by players and NPCs after being tamed.
      • Serpent Spread was only affecting targets closer than 38 yards to the hunter. It now affects all targets hit by Multi-Shot.
    • Priests
      • Holy Word: Sanctuary should now properly benefit from Echo of Light.

      • Poison Bombs that Toxitron summons correctly prioritize ranged targets over melee targets first.
    • Zul’Aman
      • The range on Amani'shi Flame Caster's Fireball Volley has been reduced to 35 yards (the tooltip still says 40 yards) and should no longer pull additional creatures when used by a player.
    • Zul’Gurub
      • Gub will no longer cast Knock Away, as he was evading when knocking the tank into unfortunate locations.
      • Toxic Link (High Priest Venoxis) now has a 100-yard range, down from infinity.
      • Zul’Gurub Bind on Equip items can correctly be mailed, traded, sold, and bought back.
  • Items
    • Flask of Battle should now correctly grant 450 base Stamina.
    • Pygmy Oil should correctly be turning players into gnomes, not funky error cubes.
    • Trinket procs should no longer persist indefinitely.
    • Zul’Gurub Bind on Equip items can correctly be mailed, traded, sold, and bought back.
  • PvP
    • Players are now awarded 180 Conquest Points for an Arena win up to the weekly cap, up from 135, and 400 Conquest Points for a Rated Battleground win up to the weekly cap, up from 335, regardless of rating or matchup. More information can be found here.
    • Tol Barad
      • Attempting to use the "Have Group, Will Travel" guild perk while the Battle for Tol Barad is in progress will now provide an error that states "You can't use that here." After a battle concludes, the guild perk works as intended and summons party members to the caster's location.
  • User Interface

    • The Zulian Throwing Axe now has its range properly displayed in the tooltip.

It would appear that the Active Volcanoes on Rhyolith have been modified. It's either that or a really bad case of RNG that made us go from 1-shoting the fight to wiping 6 times tonight on it. All due to active volcanoes being spawned in behind the boss. Was this changed since the nerf to them on the last hotfix?

how does blizz not hear the hundreds of people SCREAMING on the forums and in-game about mages, i know this sounds kind of typical of a warrior to not like mages but there amount of CC is just insane, there is no end to it, they litteraly have endless CC.

@Jagex: As much as I dislike your name, I must agree with this. They really do have ENDLESS amount of CC's. It's so complicated and I'm sick of the people saying melee should beat a frost mage anyday. Really?

im so happy blizz didnt nerf locks. But they did give 25% less damage with drain life which suks for anyone who isnt in affliction cuz the only that would save our butts in head to head combat is death coil, which btw has a long cooldown. Blizz really needs to fix this issue.

@Grandof: Did you not read the notes? They lowered the spell power coefficient for Unstable affliction. Seriously. It's not like UA made us super overpowered. Blizz has to stop with their stupid WArlock nerfs while mages just keep getting buffed. The spell power coefficient thing isn't all that bad but it's the principal of Blizzard still attacking us Warlocks for no reason.

I mean i know there is always going to be something to complain about and I agree I have many things to complain about but writing them all down on the website doesnt mean #%@!, they're not going to read them and they could care less about what you all have to say. They are only in it for the money and as long as they have 12 million ppl playing whats one persons thoughts gonna mean??? I mean every one crys and wines about somthing so just play a different game. Honestly even I am, this game use to be good before cata (Which is my opinion) and yeah YOU think that "O they should listen to me this is so unfair, blah blah blah, but honestly no one cares, so just find a different game or keep playing this one. No game is gonna be perfect and there is always going to be a class overpower another so just deal with it. Hopefully it will eventually get fixed...

Yesturday I was dueling a Hunter, yes hes gear was a bit better then mine, but Its not like am in blues and hes in purple, and in the first dual I lasted like 30 seconds, in the second dual, am not kidding I lasted like 10 seconds.lol, my warrior has over 3600 res. We are the same lvl, he only had like 4 or 5 pieces of gear better then mine and I couldnt reach him before he killed me.lol. Looking back when cata was released, hunters where compaining about how nerfed they where, tons of whining about it, you fought some and yes some where rather easy to kill, but others would be a lot harder, or you lost the fight. So what happens? Blizz gets a lot of whiners and they get buffed, so now you can get beat by the badies, and the good hunters are now super OP, lol.
If you havent noticed yet, it is the same classes that have always had en edge over the other classes that are now being buffed, IE, Hunters, paladins mages. These classes have always done better in PVP, especially 1vs1. So besides Blizz listening to whiners, theres always been this common denominator, Blizz has bias over certain classes, I don't know what it is but it's been there constantly, so much so, that I don't even understand why Blizz even bothered to make sooooo many changes and end up with the same thing, lol. Warriors are nerfed almost instantly Blizz finds out they are Doing well, and rarely gives them a buff, and when they do, you'l see the nerfbot come around very soon. In the past these are the classes that have always done well in PVP for long periods of time: Paladins, Hunters, Rogues, Mages, any other class that has reached any semblens of OP, has gotten nerfed quickly.
Ive come to realize that it is the arena that will never allow any fair competion 1vs1, for example warriors are used for bursts in arena, so they get assistance from other classes to CC the target, so the warrior has become the arena burst class, thus all his CC and mobility has been nerfed to hell, so now he sucks at 1vs1.
Yes some warriors do pretty good 1vs1, but not very good and they will tell you that they have to be geared to the teeth and not make a single mistake in order to even do well at all, let alone win.
It seems that every thing Blizz does is based on arena or raid content. Thus the constant upsets seen in forums regarding duals and BGs.
So here is my Point Blizz why do you still have the dueling system going if you know it is broken, that it is way off the mark? Or maybe classes should just be dualing each other, or only compatible classes should dual each other? My major beef with this is that I love to PVP, and my favorite class is the Warrior, I can' see my self prancing around just jumping and shooting. It bores me just watching it, so i cant do it, and it still takes a while to get a class from level 1 to end game, so though all this rolacoster that blizz has put the game through, ive grown tired, so am just waiting for a "savior" game, to take me away from this missery, LOL. Theres a upgrade coming out for a game, I forget the name, something V, which comes out in november. It looks very promising with a world that will put WoW to shame, am looking forward to it. Ive given WoW all the benifit of doubts that I could, but ive grown ill and weak (you've got to love the drama). But until then I will have bare this game.LOL
