Cenarion Hatchling for Japan Earthquake Relief

Cenarion Hatchling for Japan Earthquake Relief

Introducing the latest World of Warcraft companion up for adoption in the online Pet Store: the wild and noble Cenarion Hatchling! This little critter is the twin of the rare Hippogryph Hatchling pet players could randomly encounter in the first World of Warcraft Trading Card Game set, Heroes of Azeroth -- and he's emerged from the forests of Azeroth to lend a helping talon to some friends in need. For every Cenarion Hatchling purchased between now and July 31, 100% of the $10 USD adoption fee will be donated to the American Red Cross's Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami relief efforts. This support will enable the Red Cross to provide shelter, food, emotional support, and other assistance to victims of this disaster.

@Nikkip: That is one of the most naiive statements a clearly uninformed and racist person could say. The Red Cross's donations goes specifically and straight to the cause they are supposed to, and in this case it was the Japan Earthquake relief. Clearly you were not in any form affected by this disaster, so I will tell you this: The citizens of the affected areas and even nonaffected areas needed every help they could get; the nonaffected areas were hit with power outages and food/water shortages. In a highly populated and technical place as Japan is, like the recent Sandy Hurricane, they felt it horribly. The diaster is on par with Chernobyl, if you don't know that disaster either, please Google it. Additionally, only a handful of fishing towns and a minor fraction of the country supports the killing of whales. If that's a complaint, go look at Iceland, pilot whales in Faroe Islands, etc etc. I love animals, especially cetaceans, and yes, the brutality of how some of the fishermen do it has go to go, however, making such a broad statement like that makes you look uneducated or simply a "hater."

Blizzard,
You should start another "help-pet", since this one did help alot, and rasied quite abit of money. It's an easy way to get commercial (for you), and it helps alot of people who are having bad times.

Keep upp the good work!

@Tiberiun: *rathest a mount, since those are more popular.

ps. The part about the commercial, isn't meant to be bad.
I only said that, to point out that the price of developing the mount/pet, would be regained in form of commercial, which supports you in continued development of your great game, and it would give support to a good cause, which normal commercial doesnt. It would also make players feel good about themselves, since they helped there fellowman.

Thanks for your time :)

@Tiberiun: Last, comment (I think :P )

Fund the red cross, unicef, or another one (just give money to the "company" since they have a better idea of who needs it), (not to an induvidual country, since some countries get more/less donations, then others.

The second worst offender this year is Marsha J. Evans, President and CEO of the American Red Cross...for her salary for the year ending in 2009 was $651,957 plus expenses. Enjoys 6 weeks - fully paid holidays including all related expenses during the holiday trip for her and her husband and kids. including 100% fully paid health & dental plan for her and her family, for life. This means out of every dollar they bring in, about $0.39 goes to related charity causes.

@Ghostlykid: Amen my friend. who cares what they do or don't do and for their own gain or some other motive; Blizzard is sending these donations out to those who need it and that's all that should matter to us as players and gamers as a whole.

...after all the reading,I want to say: Japanese they don't play WOW, as they play Monster Hunter instead, does Blizz try to put hands on Japanese market of this??maybe...but as one of the most successful video game company, this donation thing is a "MUST DO" after all as helpping Blizz to build thier REPUTATION (we can tell the result already by how much this dotation been supported from 900+ comments, most of poeple think Blizz does the right thing)...maybe it was just me, that when I was doing my quests somewhere in Northrend, the sad screaming after I kill a whale just remind me something, I'm not saying they deserve this, but after the movie Cove, I can not donate this even I think Blizz doing the right thing...good luck people in Japan and now all the fishes and mammals they could have a break now......

@Tooc: I hope you vegan brother because if your not you have no room to speak. We kill helpless little animals all the time and I dont see you getting all offended, heck didnt I see your mug there at BK last week eating that triple whopper with bacon and cheese! Excellent choice by the way. Oh wait cows dont count or they should you did say something about killing mammels as being wrong? Like chickens and pigs right? My point is for those of you who dont understand.............. get over yourselves you eat meat therefore you kill helpless little animals although not nearly as cute and cuddly as dolphines Tooc!(You need to watch the cove to know that you should rent it.)but all the same, animals! The U.S. is just as guilty as crimes against the earth mother and her creations as anybody else. Metzen be praised! May he live forever!

@Elquemata: Mr.Mata...yes and yes!you are so right!!! i was trying to say sea-mammals...my bad, word missing...and I'm not a vegan at all, but i ate what's been breeded for meats, not wild animals been slaughtered, certain I'm not a vegan, but it doesn't means I eat everything, those two different things!!! love animals does not means I don't eat meat, Soldier fight the war desn't means they love to kill...except who's gone insane, BTW, all I said was KILLING not about eat! whole world eat seafood, but Japan? well done, they've gone just too far about this, killing and eat Dolphins? let me tell your something Mr.Mata, dolphins are self-awareness as we are, even butchers they no kill no dogs for the same reason!!! Beside, mercury rate in dolphin meat were 200% over the standard, that's deadly poisoned!! they(fishman inTAIJI,maybe you heard this place) kill the dolphin for meat and forces primary scholar eat for lunch, they sold dolphin meat as whale meat in Japanese market, you never heard?? maybe beacouse you've been Japan for too long and got midea black out on this, trust me, GO WATCH MOVIE COVE!!!at last I REPEAT one more time, I know Blizz does the right thing this time, I certainly appreciated, but my personal decision is not to give a cent...maybe I'm not a god blessing and awsome person as you are,but I say what I say, what about "I have no room to speak"?? that is just another fart-joke...

I think it's cool that blizzard is doing this. Sure you only get something within a game but self gratification isn't the reason you extend a hand to others. You're contributing to relief efforts for people who could really use it. So I say thumbs up to Blizzard for this. Most places will only donate a dollar for every 30 bucks spent (way to go Build A Bear...).
I'm curious as to how much Blizzard has raised so far.

@Elquemata: ..You really didn't just blame USA for nuking(finishing, retaliating against, defeating) Japan, like we were in the wrong, right?

@Cæzar: Killing innocent people is never right, I think thats what the war was about, saving the innocent. You must feel very proud then to know that in response to pearl harbor 10s of thousands of innocent non-combatants were killed, mostly women and childern. Because we all know that is was those darn women and children who bombed pearl harbor! Metzen be praised! May he live forever!

@Elquemata: December 7, 1941: The actual attack on Pearl Harbor by the Empire of Japan on December 7, 1941 brought the United States into World War II. Overall, nine ships of the U.S. fleet were sunk and 21 ships were severely damaged. Three of the 21 would be irreparable. The overall death toll reached 2,350, including 68 civilians, and 1,178 injured. Of the military personnel lost at Pearl Harbor, 1,177 were from the Arizona. The first shots fired were from the destroyer Ward on a midget submarine that surfaced outside of Pearl Harbor; Ward sank the midget sub at approximately 06:55, about an hour before the attack on Pearl Harbor. Japan would lose 29 out of the 350 aircraft they attacked with.

Thet attacked without provacation, what Truman did, while possibly quesitonable by today's standards, was justified given our capabilities at the time.

For stuff like this i went and got myself a prepaid card. The one i got was a wal-mart money card. you add $ in $20 increments and when its gone its gone there are no overdraft fees and only a $3 monthly fee, only drawback is that it also costs $3 when you put money on it

Great idea Blizz, and I would love to buy one to help out, but i just have one problem. I don't know if this has already been stated but I don't have access to a credit card and therefor I wont be able to buy one. Blizz why not sell the pets and such like you sell the WoW time cards. It would be really convenient for someone like me to be able to buy a card, enter the code on it, and enjoy what ever awesome content we just purchased, similar to buying dlc for Xbox 360s, PS3s, or Wiis. Or maybe you guys could sell gift cards at game stores like Gamestop. It might also be a great chance to generate some more revenue for the company. Though you might not read this post, just thought it would be a good idea. Thanks for reading. -Rollinz

The pet is cute and it's going to a good cause. 2n'd i would like to say...All of you guys thats saying "Oh japan was whaling...Etc" Well...Look what they gone through now and you won't even donate 10 Freaking dollars? Are you guys seriously thinking you would just rather go buy a donut? Well thats dumb. They need it right now. But 3rd. Keep comments to yourself about that. You have your own opinions. Don't complain doesn't help ANYONE. Like seriously. So just STFU. I am finished.

I'm sure we are not the only country helping them so for people not to donate if they choose not to isn't going to hurt the relief effort. And follow your "3"....please.
I, for one, am going to keep my money in the US economy. Nothing wrong with that at all.
