The reason the ticket is 'higher' is because it is a Benefit Dinner, it says it in the title, and in the first sentence.

With so much equipment and such to move, blizzard could not afford to do it anywhere else than close to home base. Blizzard really does not make as much money off blizzcon as people think, they by no means lose money at all, but its not necessarly a cash cow for them like people think. Plus like some said you can write off the whole $500 as charity donation=more money back at tax time. Win/Win if you know what you are doing.

It seems people are more interested to hold these events closer to their home. I would like to see the event held in Las Vegas. Anaheim is a nice town and all but come on y'all. Blizzard owns the biggest MMO in the world, hold it in a Sin City and make it even more fun.

How about Blizzard just donates money directly instead of trying to look good from the generosity of others? The "proceeds" better be 100% of the $500 USD.

i would love to go but...
1. $500 a bit rich or my blood. i dont see how its worth it. yeah it goes to somthing good but $500!
2. not even close to me. if if i had the extra money to buy a ticket. and i better buy one for my wife she would kill me if i went without her. i would then have to get plane tickets and rooms wile i am down there a car to dive. or just drive there and that would take a good deal of time.
be nice if blizz would be something in arkansas

@Lorinall: Hopefully they confiscated some of the eBay seller's tickets. I'm going to guess they just decided to release 50-100 more. The venue wasn't that crowded last year but it was quite difficult to talk to some developers who had been encircled by people... hopefully the additional people don't worsen that.
