Cenarion Hatchling Raises More Than $1.9 Million for Japan Earthquake Relief

Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of World of Warcraft players around the world who purchased the Cenarion Hatchling pet, we’ve raised a total of more than $1.9 million USD to support the ongoing earthquake and tsunami relief efforts in Japan. In May, we announced that for every Cenarion Hatchling purchased by July 31, 2011, 100% of the $10 USD adoption fee would be going to assist victims of this disaster -- and the community responded by opening up their hearts and wallets wide. Thanks again for your support and for helping to make an impact on the lives of those affected by these events.

If i'd of known, than I would've purchased one! But I didn't know until now, unfortunetly. I think it's a great idea for Blizzard to be doing this. We donate to the earthquake and tsunami relief in Japan and at the same time we get a adorable new companion! Yay! ^_^

@Gerison: Comments like this is why most of the world hates the U.S. If your so in debt you would consider an earthquake equivelant to your petty money problems then quit wow... this is a serious page to inform everyone of their progress to help those in Japan who lost almost everything.

@Alhazzred: Starving People vs. U.S. Debt...if the answer isn't obvious, are you people even human? Maybe we should take away your gadgets and send you over to Africa and see how you like starving on a daily basis, not knowing when you might eat next and walking miles and miles for just a cup of water.

It would be cool if all 'new release' pet costs were donated to a deserving charity at least for 2 weeks and then Blizz can keep selling them for their own profit after that initial 'fundraiser' It would encourage me to buy more pets certainly! Great job with raising money for Japan everyone! After all it's the players that raised this money!!

@Hazelnubia: i totally agree with your awesome comment about ALL pets for a certain timeframe going to charities, but we should add mounts too. then i'd warrant spending $25 plus 3 or 4 pets all at once. Blizz would definetly like the tax benes from all the money all the time.
