Step Right Up, the Darkmoon Faire's in Town!

Step Right Up, the Darkmoon Faire's in Town!

Hurry! Hurry! Hurry! Step right up and prepare to be amazed!

It’s incredible! It’s unbelievable! You’ll be dazzled. You’ll be amazed! You aren’t prepared for the Darkmoon Faire, ‘cause it’s like nothing you’ve seen before! Don’t be shy now, don’t be bashful, step right up for a tantalizing glimpse of what we've got in store for you!

That old thing?

No, no, no, Clem. The Darkmoon Faire ain’t what it used to be and it ain’t where it used to be. The management hasn’t changed but the Faire certainly has. It’s a whole new animal. Tickets? You don’t need those old tickets, just rip ‘em right up, ‘cause we’ve got new tickets! Out with the old, in with the new -- new quests, that is! Things have changed ‘round here: we’ve got an island all to ourselves now, and what an island it is. Mist-shrouded Darkmoon Island is a conundrum wrapped in an enigma. It’s a place of mystery and wonder, and you wouldn’t believe the deals we made to get it… or who we made ‘em with. But never mind that, just follow me right through here and I’ll show you what the Darkmoon Faire is all about.

All new! All spectacular!

Catch a show at the marvelous main stage or witness a dazzling fireworks display. But don’t stare too long or you might miss the stunning spectacles that surround you. Gaze in awe of our magical menagerie, get your fortune told by the amazing Sayge, go on a pony ride, experience the healthful effects of carnival food, and more!

Of course, there’s more to the Darkmoon Faire than just fantastic shows and culinary delights. You can still turn in your Darkmoon Cards, but you wouldn’t just come here for measly ol’ cards when there’s so much more to see, experience, and win. Yes, win! You like dancing bears, right? Everybody likes dancing bears. Even bears like dancing bears. How about a dancing bear… you can ride!

That’s not all! We have adorable companion pets includin’ a fez-wearing monkey, a plethora of profession recipes, toys, balloons, souvenirs, delectable carnival snacks and beverages, heirlooms for the little ones, and even replicas of long-lost suits of armor that we’re offering for your Transmogrification needs. You can also make your mark with new achievements and titles. All it takes to earn these fabulous rewards is a few Darkmoon Faire Prize Tickets and a good reputation with the carnies. How do ya get your grubby mitts on some tickets? I’m glad you asked!

Step right up! Try your luck! Everyone’s a winner!

Have we got games? You bet we’ve got games, and they’re so easy to play an orc could do it. Just head on over to the midway, buy some Darkmoon Game Tokens, and get ready to play. Easy to learn, difficult to master, anyone can play and everyone can win. Just lay your tokens down for a chance at winning Darkmoon Prize Tickets playing games like Whack-a-Gnoll, the Tonk Battle Royale, the Cannon, Ring Toss, the Shooting Gallery, and more! Five games are there to test your skills at any one time. The better you play, the easier it is to win a bucket of Darkmoon Faire Prize Tickets! Once a month, you’ve got a shot at tickets, and the fun never stops ‘cause you can play as many times as you like. But that’s not the only way to win big!

The Darkmoon Faire Field Guide

It’s your passport to riches, my friend. Y’see, we need a few things -- just some junk, nothing valuable to a big hero like you. We call ‘em Darkmoon Artifacts, and there’s all different kinds to be found all over Azeroth. The Darkmoon Field Guide helps you discover artifacts while you’re explorin’ dungeons, slayin’ monsters, and fightin’ in Battlegrounds. Without a guide, you’d never notice ‘em, and it’ll help keep you focused on the stuff we want. Whether you just reached level 10, or you’ve crushed the biggest baddies in the land, we need somethin’ from nearly everybody. You won’t have to go too far out of your way to get ‘em and each month you’ll get a new opportunity to seek out an Artifact for us. What do you get out of the deal? Don’t you worry, you’ll get your cut. When you bring a Darkmoon Artifact back to us, you’ll get valuable experience (it builds character, you know!), earn a better reputation, and possibly earn precious Darkmoon Faire Prize Tickets too!

Oh, did I mention that you can use the Field Guide to get to Darkmoon Island whenever the Darkmoon Faire’s monthly extravaganza is up and running?

So, you want to work in show business?

Maybe you’d like a little peek behind the scenes, eh? Want to see what it takes to run the greatest show on Azeroth? Well, it’s not all sunshine and cotton candy, my friend. There are beasts to heal, food to cook, and buildings to fix. If you’re willing to help keep the show going and put your skills to work, you’ll not only impress us, but you can get experience, Darkmoon Prize Tickets, and even polish up your skills -- up to five skill points per profession, per Faire week, if you’re good at what you do!

Darkmoon Deathmatch!

Like any good carnival, the Darkmoon Faire has a shady side. You can leave the skilled labor to the suckers and go for a faster score instead. If you’ve got the minerals, the Darkmoon Deathmatch offers an experience unparalleled since the Gurubashi Arena. Pitmaster Pei has a big old treasure chest just brimming with goodies and Darkmoon Faire Prize Tickets that he’ll drag out into the Darkmoon Deathmatch Pit every three hours or so. Everybody wants it, so if you want a piece of the action you’ll just have to jump in and prove that you’re the toughest one in the Pit.

Oh, the Faire is perfectly safe, Clem. Just don’t wander into the woods.

Now, now, don’t panic. Darkmoon Isle might be a bit spooky, but except for the Deathmatch Pit, the Faire itself is completely safe, I guarantee it. It’s a sanctuary even, and we won’t let anybody’s beef ruin the fun. The shadowy woods surroundin’ the fair are another thing entirely, though. I wouldn’t say that people have disappeared into those woods never to return, but, well… people disappear into those woods never to return. So watch your step, and your back, when you leave the Faire. Don’t say I didn’t warn ya!

Mark your calendar

Now that you know how amazing the new Darkmoon Faire is, you won’t want to miss it. Just take a look at your in-game calendar, and the Darkmoon Faire dates will show up there on the first week of every month. Darkmoon Faire barkers and displays will also pop up in every capital city to herald the arrival of the Faire. Silas Darkmoon himself has even started up a mailer to make sure that no one misses out!

Hitch a ride

During the first week of each month, convenient Darkmoon Faire outposts with Darkmoon Portals will appear in Elwynn Forest and Mulgore, offering free rides to Darkmoon Island and the Faire!

Darkmoon Mages in capital cities and on Darkmoon Island will also be around to help you get between the Faire and various capital cities. There’s no such thing as a free lunch, so naturally you’re obliged to compensate them for their services.

What more do you need to know? Just head to Darkmoon Island at the turn of each month. You don’t want to miss it!

I love the new dark moon fair this is how it should of been from the start. with that said i request the idea of having some either repeatable quests or daily's to ease the grind of ticket gathering/rep gaining. doing a set of quests once a month is just a bit much. oh and i laughed at seeing Cookie waiting in the VIP line. i keep running into him in odd places. 0_o"

I didn't know the best place to thank Blizzard for The Darkmoon Faire, but I logged out in the Darkmoon woods and just logged in and thought, now this is the kind of magic wow should be about. It's mysterious, there's things to explore, things to be curious about, albiet I got through most of it from what I can see in one day, but still more worthwhile than the usual monotony.

This is the 2nd month of the new faire...I collected the drops to turn in thinking it was a limit of 1 of each kind per month, however the items (Imbued Crystal, Montrous Egg, etc) are not letting repeat turn ins of the ones I did last month. Is this a glitch or working as intended? Grrr, if it is once EVER..this is going to take a lot longer than anticipated to get the pets/mounts.

Hey blizz, what about all the tickets I've been saving. I know you said something about them being worthless after a while, but guess what? I DIDN"T GET THE MESSAGE SINCE I DIDN"T HAVE THE INTERNET FOR 4 MONTHS!

Now with that out of the way, can you please give me an exchange of my tickets for the new currency? LIke you did with Brewfest? PLEASE!? I just want to know that all the effort I put into trying to get Exaulted with the Fair and the prizes I wanted to get where not in vain!

I like the fair, but seriously, not giving me an exchange for my tickets is like you kicking me in the teeth for no reason then for putting in the hard work of getting them to start with.

@Siyray: I agree with your post and you didn't miss any announcement as I have been on without any breaks in playing and didn't git one. Now I'm stuck with several hundred tickets that I can't use. I worked darn hard to get them and saved them for use while I got enough to buy what I was wanting. this was my first entry into the faire and was shocked when I couldn't use my old tickets. Come on Blizzard how about giving us a fair break

I love the Darkmoon Faire! (aka patch 4.3) There I said it. Up until now, I've only had a passing interest in the faire. Most times I'd store up the tickets in my bank vault thinking I should do something with them the next time the faire comes around. And pre-patch 4.3, I would wonder, "Where is that darn faire this month?", then fail to attend. But now! Now! I am thrilled to attend. Every time I enter the portal to the Darkmoon faire, I feel as though I've stepped into any number of magical storybook tales I've read throughout my years. What an immersive experience you've created. Super uber well done! :) (notes from the day after the close of the faire) December 11th, 2011

I actually like the faire a lot, I think it does have a little bit of everything mixed into it. You're into PVP, do the pit, You're into questing? Do the Dailies, and if you're into dungeons, do the gathering things. It helps with professions, and it also helps the achievement addicts get more achievements. You can also get multiple things from fishing when you find the supply stuff in the water, and it actually GIVES people something to do instead of grinding out ways to gather stuff like the other one did. 5 tickets a day? Yea, that might sucks but also think of this. It just started, Blizzard probably wants to see how well it does before creating all these new quests and dailies, and things like that. They had buildings that seemed to be still building up, and areas that made you go: Huh, wonder what that will be for. Do the games need work on? Some. Would it be nice to get more tickets and rep? Yes, However people are complaining about how its dungeon things. I got stuff for the faire when I was doing PVP, and than I got some when I was doing dungeons and at the end of the week, I had 231 of the trophies. Most of that was from my PVP battles. My opinion, Give it time, Give your opinions in a way that Blizzard might actually care instead of being insulting and talking about how they don't care. If they didn't care, They would have left it the same way that it was before.

I'm new to WOW, so can't comment on how the new faire compares to the old, but it does seem like a slap in the face that old tickets are trashed.

As for the new faire, I visited it last night (for the 1st time) and really enjoyed it. The daily's were fun -- even if they don't change (I've found most daily's don't change much anyway) -- and the atmosphere was a nice change from the regular grind / dungeon runs. I'm hoping this will simply be a nice change for all us casual players. Azeroth is a wonderful place. Totally loving WOW. Thanks, Blizzard.

Old tickets should roll over, that's nuts.
Prizes should be lower in ticket price...90 for the turtle and i only do the basic stuff, unless your the obsessive player...no way i can get 90 in a week. Im a casual player....
i don't even understand what that strong chick wants u to do...confusing.
i like that it's an island....when it was like before, i didn't bother.

I'm quite pissed because I spent over a year going through soloing the old dungeons to get my Feral Heart set. Being the only Druid on the server with the gear set was pretty cool... While it lasted. Now anyone can just go get a "copy". Thanks Blizz, for rewarding all my hard work. UG...

So my old tickets are garbage it looks like. Thanks blizz for wasting my time yet again. Saved up tickets, read to be sure they weren't just going to disappear then what do I get? Nothing. My ticket to blizz was a generic response that didn't even answer my question. They referred me to here. So now I !@#$% to the masses about how blizz seems to ignore their own prize tickets, leave them in my bags to remind me how little they care. Here I come Starwars.

To all those who feel they have been wasting hours, like me, collecting old tickets: Remember Blizzard is a business and as such needs to make money to pay executives, designers, assistant designers, etc. The more they make you grind the longer you pay your monthly fee...until you decide that this is racket and you don't want any part of it and you quit. However, we all know that the majority, including myself, is addicted to WoW and therefore they keep pushing to see how much they can get away with. For example, in the last 2 weeks Blizzard has performed servers-wide 6-hour shut downs at least twice --at least, since I don't play every day; now, for as "unfair" as that is (they do demand full payment every month after all) I still wait patiently until their servers go back up. The only way you can REALLY send a message to Blizzard is to cancel your account, that way when thousands of dollars are lost in revenue the big executives will demand an explanation (corporate america if very reactive NEVER pro active) and all the underlings will scramble to do a post-mortem and try to find a solution and truly think things through. HOWEVER, we all know that we are not about to cancel our accounts so just take it, make the best of it, enjoy it and quit your bit@#$ing.

@Ownagi: It seems to me that the kids that keep pushing ilvl are the worst players in the game. If you do your research and learn the class you play you would see that a lot of the blue 346 heroic trinkets out there are better than any of the 378 ilvl items. When the baddies quit putting so much stock in ilvl then the other baddies might learn their class and quit using things like the brew fest trink that gives nothing more than 512 stam and the ability to call a chick to give him a beer as a tank trinket because it has a 365 ilvl. The scales of life.. one of the worst tank trinkets in the game, and yet i see all these tanks using it because it has a 378 ilvl when there are multiple 346 trinks and some 333 trinks that are better for tanking than scales. But by all means, go ahead and buy off on the whole ilvl think and think that because some people read that they suck. We know the truth.

Other than the obvious lack in variety and the depressing ticket economy Blizz is offering for the new and "improved" faire, I do have to say I like it a whole lot more than how it was before. A Hot Fix does need to be implemented for the tickets v. cost of rewards, especially the companions and mounts. The downward spiral this game seems to be going has already turned me off of playing for vast amounts of time, so I am not in any hurry to go back to dungeons, even if I want the tickets. A focus on instances, raids, and guild participation for game progression needs to come to a serious change...It is restricting progression for many people and discriminating against too much of Blizzard's customers.
As for the faire specifically, variety in the dailies, and change in ticket economy would be wonderful. The construction area tents give me hope of more to come, and sooner the better!!

Truly, you have to run instances to get tickets, that is a bit ridiculous. I know that you get your "grizzley trophies" running bg's, lvl appropriate dungeons or killing lvl appropriate mobs, but, if I don't run dungeons I don't get tickets & only during faire week. I still say we had 2 weeks where the faire was available. Each faction had the faire in their territory & then it set up outside Shattrath. Just make it available 2 weeks a month and it won't be such a grind for those of us who don't run dungeons regularly (i.e. the hard core pvp'rs).

To answer those who are upset about a limit, you get five tickets per day if you only do the daily quests. There are other ways to get tickets! I did other things (Prof quests, dungeon drops, etc) and got 31 tickets just today. I really enjoy this new Darkmoon Faire!
