New Lore: Lor'themar Theron Story Now Available!

Blizzard Entertainment is proud to present the latest entry in the "Leaders of Azeroth" short story series: In the Shadow of the Sun!

Lor'themar was not any surer of his thoughts by the day Aethas was scheduled to arrive. As he made his way through Sunfury Spire to the front hall where the archmage would appear, Halduron stopped him, holding out a small bundle of soft crimson wool. Lor'themar took it and held it up as it unfolded, beholding a regal golden phoenix upon its field: the Silvermoon City tabard.

"No," he said curtly, shoving the garment back at his friend.

"You should wear it," Halduron pressed.

"What does it matter?" he answered, striding forward. "Anyone in the service of Silvermoon may bear it."

"It is the symbol of state," Halduron called after him. "You are the head of state. You should look the part."

"I am the regent lord," Lor'themar said, continuing to walk away. "Not the king."

Still don't like Lor'themar. In fact, I think this story makes me like him less. Get rid of him and give belfs back a badass leader like Kael was. Hell, I think Aethas has more potential to be a good leader. Develop him instead.

I think Lor'themar wouldn't be too bad if he actually did anything in game for the last 5 years. No leader can really work well for the Horde if he doesn't do a single thing in-game.

@Korlon: I'd agree with that. Except a lot of people you run into just came in at Wrath or Cata. They have no idea about lore, Vanilla WoW and very little of the WC series.

@Cador: I disagree. I think a lot of people are into lore enough to know when something strikes them as awkward, unusual, or unecessary. I myself have been following Warcraft since it's inception, and a lot of it is either getting muddled, or insignificant. I wasn't impressed by this, and Warcraft could do without going into his lore.

Actually it wasn't that humans in totality that betrayed the Blood Elves rather it was the Warlord Garithos that had them imprisoned for consorting with Naga. Dalaran leadership were likely unable to prevent the imprisonment due to the turmoil in the area at the time or there trust in the elves waned as there abuse and addiction of magic increased. Furthermore Veressa Windrunner didn't betray her people it is likely as per this story suggests she was one of elves that refused to suck on Fel Energies and become a crack addict and she was forced to leave. But that is unlikely as in the novels like in the game she is married to a Human Wizard. In the novels they lived close to Dalaran during her pregnancy. It is likely that when Rhonin was offered the leadership of Dalaran that is where they moved. Additionally it probably doesn't help that a Blood Elf and a family member (cousin) tried to kidnap her children as he believed a child of human and elvish genes would be a good source of power to suck on. Vereesa Windrunner no longer trusts her people as theyve proven otherwise with there abuses.

I have to start off by saying I loved the story, I have enjoyed every lore story... The Goblin one was a little wierd though hehe. Anyway, I was shocked to hear Veressa Windrunner's name in this story, what I don't understand though is why Lor'themar scowled when he heard her name? Besides that... Go Blood Elves!

@Serénitý: Veressa Windrunner is a highelf who betrayed the blood elves who all turned to, and abused arcane magic. She's one of the leaders of the Kirin'Tor (along with Aethas Sunreaver, and Rhonin (her husband)) She created the Silver Covanent, who are a group of high elves who expel Blood elves, and fight to keep them out of the Kirin'Tor, as she knows the "evil" that Blood elves seek in arcane magic. Lor'themar, hates her because she's always in the way of Blood Elf affair when it comes to neutral factions. She sees them as lesser beings.

Just think of the chaos that is going to happen when Turalyon and Alleria Windrunner return. It seems they have kind of just pushed to the wayside these iconic heroes of the Warcraft lore so it will be interesting to see what will happen with them when they return.

Let me tell you something about blood elves. They started as the highborne, night elves that studied magic. They became addicted to it and brought the burning legion to azeroth for the first time. they agreed with it and caused the death of millions and they destruction of the whole world. then the night elves forgave them and told them not to use magic, so the blood elves caused an arcane storm that killed tons. They left and attacked the trolls holy land and slaughtered their race. they then welcomed the human race, but betrayed them by siding with the naga. and besides that, they caused all 3 wars because they brought the bl to azeroth in the first place. so be quiet about how poor the blood elves are. read your lore.

The Blood elves were not nescescarily betrayed by the Aliance you see the elves were currently lead by Kael'thas at the time and the Blood elves were extremely weak and Garithos was a pregedous son of a !@#$% and worst part was he was in charge of Lordaeron the parts that aren't plagued anyhow but anyways Garithos sent them to repair these observatorys and then to beat up these undead.. Alone not to mention Garithos has never helped the elves with anything the Naga helped the blood elves complete the tasks twice because they would die without Naga help Lady Vashj was sent there by Illidan truthfully Illidan was looking for help to conqeur Outland now Garithos discoverd that Kael'thas took the aid of the naga and condemned him and his men to execution in one day but Lady Vashj saved him and took him to OL and all that crap if Garithos wasn't in charge the High elves aka Blood elves would still be with the aliance the aliance would really the Elves but the horde got to em before the Aliance did

I'v played this Paladin since the time when we were Magic sucking Vampires feeding off the Naru, I'm almost surprised they didn't add a new Eye graphic upon character creation to symbolize the absorption of Holy energy, as opposed to Fel energy.

@Myriatyr:
fel magic mutation is generally permanent, this is why even the purest of orc shamans still have green skin. Green eyes will likley remain in the blood elven linage for the rest of their existence.

Not true. Blizz said it will fade with time. Especially since they have the Sunwell back. It will just take a very long time.

Ive enjoyed the blood elf lore ever since I started leveling this character from lvl 1..... the race has suffered a great deal and the alliance betrayed them when they needed help the most.....least the horde has (or had, before Garrosh) some class...

@Midnightsunn: We only betrayed you (blood elfs) because you made an alliance (albeit reluctantly) with the Naga and due to ties with night elfs humans saw this as a betrayal. and lets be honest blood elfs only use the horde to futher their own gains...much like the undead.

@Irielmor: Was once a true statement, not sure anymore. the King was all up and for using people, the citizens are currently sort of Mind controlled and dazzed out of thought when they question right and wrong. but since the death of the king I think the elves and embraced the alliance. their hasn't been much in game lore on the elves thought towards the horde since the end of B.C

@Myriatyr: Blood elves in the military forces, such as in northrend seem to get along with western horde races pretty well.
