Children's Week is Here

Children's Week is here! Taking place once a year in Orgrimmar, Stormwind, Dalaran, and Shattrath City, this week-long celebration is a time to give back to the innocents orphaned by war.

This year, the holiday will begin on April 29 and will end on May 5. Take an orphan under your wing, perform the tasks you are presented with and you’ll show one of Azeroth’s children that you care (and be rewarded with a special in-game pet to boot).

Many orphans wish they had someone special to show them the wonders of the world. Throughout the year, they often spend their time wandering around their home cities of Stormwind or Orgrimmar, dreaming of the day they'll be old enough (and big enough) to venture out into the world to see the sights their parents would have shown them.

During Children's Week, brave heroes of the Horde and the Alliance can make these kids' dreams come true! Visit your faction’s local orphanage to take one of these children on a whirlwind adventure around the world.

  • Alliance:   Orphan Matron Nightingale in Stormwind

Children's Week in Eastern Kingdoms or Kalimdor

Many orphans wish they had someone special to show them the wonders of the world. Throughout the year, these children spend their time wandering around their home cities of Stormwind or Orgrimmar, dreaming of the day they'll be old enough (and big enough) to venture out into the world and see the sights their parents would have shown them. During Children's Week, brave adventurers of the Horde and the Alliance can make these kids' dreams come true! Visit your faction’s local orphanage to take one of these children on a whirlwind adventure around the world. Talk to either Orphan Matron Nightingale in Stormwind (Alliance) or Orphan Matron Battlewail in Orgrimmar (Horde). After that, you’ll be able to take your young friend on an adventure across Azeroth.

Pet Rewards

  • Mr. Wiggles - summoned with the Piglet's Collar, this cute piglet is one of the reward options available from your faction capital city quest.
  • Whiskers - summoned with the Rat Cage, this cute baby rat is one of the reward options available from your faction capital city quest.
  • Speedy - summoned with the Turtle Box, this cute baby turtle is one of the reward options available from your faction capital city quest.
  • Scooter - summoned with the Snail Shell, this adorable baby snail is one of the reward options available from your faction capital city quest.

Children's Week in Shattrath

The orphans of Shattrath's Lower City, victims of the war that rages across Outland, also need company and adventure. Talk to Orphan Matron Mercy to offer one of Shattrath’s orphans the adventure of a lifetime as you embark on an adventure across Outland and learn a little about your ward along the way.

The outcome of the ongoing battle against the Burning Legion may one day lie in the hands of these children, so a little encouragement, or a push in the right direction, could make all the difference in the world.

Pet Rewards

  • Egbert - summoned with the Egbert's Egg, this cute baby hawkstrider is one of the reward options available from the “Back to the Orphanage” quest, which begins with Orphan Matron Mercy in Shattrath City.
  • Peanut - summoned with the Elekk Training Collar, this cute baby elekk is one of the reward options available from the “Back to the Orphanage” quest, which begins with Orphan Matron Mercy in Shattrath City.
  • Sleepy Willy - this baby floating eye will occasionally wake from his nap to kill a nearby creature classified in the game as a "critter." He is one of the reward options available from the “Back to the Orphanage” quest, which begins with Orphan Matron Mercy in Shattrath City.
  • Legs - this cute baby Spore Walker is one of the reward options available from the “Back to the Orphanage” quest, which begins with Orphan Matron Mercy in Shattrath City.

Children's Week in Dalaran

The orphans of Northrend need your help. For less than the cost of a cup of Kungaloosh, you can sponsor an unfortunate orphan like little Roo or Kekek. Simply contact Orphan Matron Aria in Dalaran to pledge your time and show one of these children that you care. You can make all the difference in the life of a young Oracle or Wolvar. Act now!

Pet Rewards
  • Curious Oracle Hatchling - this little companion can be obtained during Northrend Children's Week by completing a quest chain.
  • Curious Wolvar Pup - this little companion can be obtained during Northrend Children's Week by completing a quest chain.

Other Rewards:

  • Achievements: Children's Week currently offers a total of 110 achievement points, split over seven achievements and one meta-achievement. *Please note that achievement objectives between the Horde and Alliance are nearly the same, though there are some minor differences.
  • Titles: Matron or Patron, depending on the gender of your character, granted for completing the meta-achievement “For the Children.”

Agree with Emeraldas. I love pvp, but for non-pvpers it's not quite fair. I don't think you would see a holiday meta achv require raiding an end boss in DS or something else for those not in a guild able to do so.

I wish they would make School of Hard Knocks achievement not part of the meta, not saying to take it out all together but just remove it for being part of getting the Children's Week achievement or let the requirement be one of the four. There are alot of pvp players who grief the people trying to get School of Hard Knocks achievement. They do this in EOS by holding onto the flag so no one can get it.

@Emeraldas: It would be interesting to make it a feat of strength. A lot of people would still try for it and the people who don't want to can leave it alone.

Returning the flag was easy...especially since no one on either side did any fighting until everyone had satisfied their achiev with orphan.

Yes, I am one of those that hate School of Hard Knocks achievement. I have gotten it on two characters now from previous years (one character took me two years just to get the Warsong Gulch one) and this year I'm trying it again on two more characters, but I'm finding this year to be even extra hard. I don't mind PVP. I am mostly PVE, but will do PVP just for fun and to blow off steam. But trying to do this achievement, is just too damn hard. Why? Because you are not going in there to do PVP, you are going in there with one objective mostly, and you are competing with other players who are either trying to do it, or who are trying to prevent you from doing it. So it is not fun for those who are trying to do it, and not fun to those other PVP players who are trying to have a normal battlegrounds. Please either do away with this achievement, or make it to where you only need one of the four to get credit. I am tired of spending hours on multiple battlegrounds, only to leave each one empty handed far as this achievement is concerned because I am having to deal with other players being !@*#s. For those who got in with nicer opposing factions that helped you out, you are lucky. I have yet to land in one of those BGs.

@Runihura: I've had this problem too.. couldn't do a thing both horde and alliance rush at the same goal.. they do not share.. but what i've learned from a friend they said to wait like untill half the week or near the end when barely anyone is trying for that anymore or already have it done.

@Runihura: I agree. I'm having a horrible time getting this achievement. I would rather see them do away with the specific tasks in specific battlegrounds. It just doesn't work.

I have this achievement on 2 toons now. I have 2 more that I need to get it on, and it's NOT fun to do!! I'm overly frustrated with it. People are actively trying to prevent me from getting it, and very few people are helping at all. It would be more fun if it was something like "Win a battleground" or "Get x number of honorable kills."

I hope that one of these days Blizzard will make a Children's Week boss for level 85's......Being a level 85 gets a bit boring once you have the gear from the Valor point Vendors. Aka: The best gear in the game as of right now. The Holidays that have bosses are exciting for me every year, but there needs to be atleast 1 boss for each Holiday in my opinion. You all may not feel the same way.

The Hardest one for me was the one in WG where u have to return a fallen flag, luckly for me a sweet alliance guy walks over to the flag, tells me to wait, grabs it, and then drops it a bunch of times for everyone to get the achive, how cools is that?!

This holiday and any other holiday that have achievements in BGs totally ruin the BGs they are in. I wish those achievements would go away.

@Valtaa: I don't want to sound like a smartmouth
but the lore wouldn't work if there were undead children, seeing as how the Undead or Forsaken is merely the cameo aftermath of a death of a human EX: Lord Walden from Shadowfang Keep. plus it wouldn't promote the game well if there were undead children seeing as how you'd have to kill a child first and thats just messed up. But its a good thought

@Valkorato: There had to have been some children casualties from the plague so there would be the possibility that they exist. And come on how wonderfully creepy would it be to see a lil undead kid walking around ....I see it very Tim Burtonish "Nightmare before X-mas." and "Corpse Bride" to have lil kids walking around recalling their former lives but not fully understand that they aren't alive like they once were.

Yeah it's silly how Blizzard tells players and would be players just buying the game that they don't HAVE to PvP, but once they BUY the game, and want to get achieves, they can only get them IF they PvP. It's a bare faced LIE and false advertisement. Tell people what they want to see/hear, then shaft them as soon as they plunk out their money. Good reason to immediately cancel one's subscription.

@Schnotzz:

Let's be honest. You aren't going to cancel your subscription just because you got a little buthurt that you have to PvP for an achievement.

You still don't "HAVE" to PvP the whole point of achievements is to, well, achieve something. Sometimes the criteria of these achievements are things you don't like/suck at. At the end of the day though, you don't have to get the Matron/Patron title, it's optional as is PvP, so suck it up and get over yourself.

@Schnotzz: Ohhh nooo! You've been lied to.. I feel so bad for you. Want a box of !@#$%^s for your boo boo'd soul? Please quit the game, by the way. You won't be missed by probably the entire WoW community. Complaining about something so small shows how pathetic a player you are. My vote for your cancel is on the board bro. :]

PLEASE please please! Please remove the School of Hard Knocks from the achievements needed for the meta. I don't like PVP, I am on a PVE server, and wear cloth armor... I am killed by a breath of wind in PVP, so I stay out of the proverbial pool. PVPers don't want me there; I don't want to be there; I'm sure that a LARGE percentage of the warcraft population would agree with me, that School of Hard Knocks achievement can easily ruin a year's worth of holiday achievement hunting.
