St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® Charity Auction: Thank You!

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® Charity Auction: Thank You!

Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of the World of Warcraft® community around the world who took part in our recent server-blade charity auction, we’ve raised more than $330,000 USD to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®.

In October 2011, we announced that a selection of retired World of Warcraft server blades -- hardware that once housed World of Warcraft realms -- would be made available for auction for this great cause, and you responded by opening up your hearts and your guild banks. Thanks again for your support and for helping to make a difference in the lives of children.

Thanks to Blizz for putting up the charity, and thanks to all of those that put in bids and won the blades! What a great way to help out those that are in need.

While I applaud Blizzard for doing this it would be nice for those of us who missed out if Blizz would do another in game charity pet sale. What does everyone else think about this?

That was great that Blizzard did this I have always and so has my In-Laws donated to St. Jude and my In-Laws always made a trip to St.Jude Church in Baltimore, And when I was stationed in Virginia my In-Laws would come and pick us up for the trip. St.Jude is Great for what they do but also remember the Shriners help with similar treatments also, They helped my son out for a few years when he was younger,God bless St.Jude,Shriner's, and other groups that help out not only the children but for the adults as well that have similar problems. Great Job Blizzard I've been playing Wow since the death of my wife in 2004, she died a few months after I returned home from the War in Iraq I was there from 2003- 2004. Me and a few of my soldiers played the version where we had to make up our own villiage to defend it, on some of the down time we had from day to day missions we went on while in Iraq. It was a great game then and now even a greater game now keep up the great work and I'll keep on playing my online game I have about 7 toons in 5 different realms, and I'm 55 years old and love playing the game Bill from Pittsburgh, Pa. Retired military Veteran served 28 years and was proud to have served.

St. Jude helped me beat cancer 21 years ago! i just started a study for St Jude on the long term side effects caused by aggressive chemotherapy used on young children.

@Toosassy: Fat kids are one of blizzard's main source of income, i dont think theyre going to try and convince those kids to go outside and do something other than play video games

I was a patient at St. Jude for a year and a half in 1999 when i was 6 years old. I had stage 3 neuroblastoma and my family didn't pay a penny out of pocket for my treatment. Gotta love blizzard for doing this, its donations like this that make everything they do possible.

I'm the Mom of a childhood cancer survivor. I want to thank each and every one of you who donated to this cause. If any of you could spend some time with the kids on a cancer ward your life would be changed. This game has brought the world to my daughteer when she was too sick to go play with friends. It also allowed her to escape her grief when her friends died from the same disease she was fighting. Now, we play the game together as she lives in another city to go to college. My daughter is alive because of research .. and that research is made possible because of the generosity of people like Blizzard and the gaming community. Thank you again!

Actually as cool as this was with a company as large as Blizzard it would have been nice if they matched the total that generated from the sale of the servers. That cause needs all the help they can get and god knows Blizzard could afford it.

But do the servers still function? They are clearly wiped of game data but can you load up stuff on them and use them as servers?
