Dragon Soul Difficulty Change - 35%

Dragon Soul Difficulty Change - 35%

During our server maintenance this week, the “Power of the Aspects” spell grew more powerful, reducing the health and damage dealt of all enemies in the Dragon Soul raid by 35%. This spell has grown progressively stronger over time to reduce difficulty and make the encounters more accessible. The spell will affect both normal and Heroic difficulties. It will not affect the Raid Finder difficulty.

If you don’t need the help of the Dragon Aspects, the spell can be disabled by talking to Lord Afrasastrasz at the beginning of Dragon Soul.

We hope you continue to enjoy Dragon Soul, and that these changes encourage you to attempt a higher difficulty, or just keep pushing to take down that next boss.

You can tell people that they're bad when you have DS cleared

@Hunch: raiding takes far too many ppl for clearing one to have any indication on how good or bad you are at this game.

I don't know how long some of you have been playing, but it's always been like this as I can remember. I have a different stance on it, but I can see everyones points because I've been on both sides many times. I bet there are a lot here complaining about it that were most likely the same ones telling people pre-cata to stop their whining. Getting the top gear, or "Best of the best" is probably the main driving force in the game and always has been. Every new extension this happens and people that have worked hard for what they have watch as it gets open to pretty much anyone. To me, it's more upsetting when the first quest reward green stomps on something that took months to finally get. Other than that I'm glad others can get in and see the content they might not have gotten to see before.

Personally, I love to raid old content with some friends. Having taken a couple years off wow, it's great to come in and reach max level again and raid old content. Providing that you can of course. To me, that is how it should be left and only that. It's just fun. You know what I mean. Remember the 1st time you solo'd BRD back in the day? How about the 1st time you offered a new character a run through Deadmines? Or Ragefire Chasm?

Of course yesterdays end game content takes longer but it's probably my main fun now a days. Back when I had an end game raiding guild I could and would play all night in hopes to finally down a new boss. I was always last to leave the raid. I say just stop changing level requirements for raids. An old raid is an old raid. Don't take a level 60 or 70 raid and then make it lvl 85, like they did with ZG and ZA. Running old content is fun, and the most fun I've had in wow for years. If I didn't have that, I wouldn't play at all now.

So my point is just to leave old as old. No need to nerf it for me anyway. I'm no longer the die hard player I was so won't ever rebuild my guild or join another. My limited time to play is what it is and would never get a raid spot anyway (nor should I). I'm more than happy in running old content as gear checks a long the way. Example; once I hit 90 I would like to see how much trash I could solo, maybe a boss or two. Months down the road when I got better geared, do another run and so on. Many of us enjoy that and have no problem waiting to get that rep we may need, or just the experience. The nostalgic factor alone in running old content is 2nd to none. As for making it easier for those willing to hit LFR? Why not? It's not my thing, but am all for it for the others. Having the gear shortly after a new expansion is something people should be happy about and I too once hated the fact that what I worked my butt off for was more handed to those who just couldn't get in a good group or lacked time. As long as it's right before the new content release, I don't see why that would be a problem though. Having been on MOP beta I can say people will need to better their gear just for what I've seen during basic questing. A nerf a month or two prior to release isn't anything I can see as taking away.

People also need to stop looking at others as disrespectful as they do. They talk down to those lower level and turn their nose up to someone not nearly as geared. That's more of an issue in this game then anything else. The maturity level of the individual. If you shift click someones name, prior to replying to them, then you have issues. People give people crap and think they're less of a human being based on their current level or ilvl. For me that is what has killed wow for me over the years. More kids than adults is fine if the balance of maturity wasn't so lost in the process.

@Mendric: I have been playing WoW since early BC and I think you have hit the nail on the head with your (a bit long) statment. Your right in almost everything you said there.

Only thing I disagree with is that I wish they whould give old raiding content like a harder mode ( reg whould still be there) .
but something like a stronger kara that whould not offer much more then rareachivments and nice mogging gear. That way I could enjoy lower lvl content without being able to blow through each boss without effort.
basically Im saying that old content is to easy for me and thats about my only complaint.

@Mendric: I think a lot of the QQ would be solved if blizzard did more to differentiate between those who did content pre and post nerf. I personally have no issues with the "better players get it first" over "better players are the only ones to get it" but at the same time, if you go with "better players get it first" then there should be some way of honoring that accomplishment, be it with uniquely colored gear, titles or uniquely colored mounts.

Say for instance, if you completed heroic rag before the nerfs you get a green firehawk like the one that was datamined.

Something for the players who did it before the nerfs to separate them from the pack when the pack catches up. I think we go that route and a lot more people would be happy.

TL;DR : nerfs are fine as long as you give something (usually cosmetic) to those who defeated said content pre-nerf.

@Dreagan: There's going to be an achievement/FOS or two for defeating the final bosses of T14 pre-nerf. So that's something I guess. But it seems like most of the people who down stuff pre-nerf would like a more visible reward, like a mount or pet. Can't blame them really, but then the people who do it later would inevitably complain that they want that too. Neverending cycle sadly.

So here is my thought on Elites vs casuals.

Elite players are those who are in the top 1% the world first getters.
Hardcore casuals are those who like to strive for server firsts but don't really even break the top 50 most of the time. They are also the ones who !@#$% moan and complain anytime a nerf is put into place.

Casuals are those who like to play the game for fun and hang out with friends while killing internet dragons and pixel fairies. Point to all this is simple.

We all pay 15 dollars a month. Let us play how we wish to play and stop bashing us cause our views on the game are different than yours.

I remember raiding DS before the nerf started and actually having to put in the hours for progression in hard mode now its just a walk through the park until you hit heroic spine of course because thats the only tough thing left in DS.

@xzipher The issue here is that very little of this game is acutally difficult. Fully 99% of the gear and achievements are gotten through diligence, not skill. The only parts that are really hard are the top end raids, and arenas.
Having said that, the reason their nerfing thier current endgame raid is because of the immenent release of MoP. They what casual players the chance to run endgame content, before the bar is raised again and its another 4-6 months before they are strong enough to raid.

I don't understand why you guys freak out so much. We all pay the same amount, we should all receive the same benefits. To be honest I think the people like us casuals who work full time or even longer like 60 hours a week in my case should get rewarded more. We don't have time to run heroic ds every night like hardcore gamers, just because we have to work we should get put down during our little bit of relaxing game time? These opportunities are completely fair, it gives everyone a chance to play and experience what they pay for.

@Xzipher: I work full time too, with a 45 min commute. I am in a guild that can clear heroic DS in ~2 hours. I consider myself pretty damn casual. MMO's are timesinks, and the more you put into them the more you are going to get. You should get just rewards, but not rewarded more.

The nerfs are fine because the race is over, and DS is old (and very tired) news. Do not confuse this fact with a belief that because you work long hours and pay 15 you are entitled to clear heroic raids the first week.

@Dreagan: This^.

An I am firmly in the camp that would benefit from this if I cared to see the content again outside of the LFR setting, which I don't. I work a lot too. That has nothing to do with what should be available to me.

It makes sense for Blizzard to get more people through more of the current end-game before the next piece comes out. If you're leet and need to prove it, turn off the buff and brag a lot in trade chat. I won't see it anyway.

I honestly don't understand why anyone cares if Dragon Soul has been nerfed more. If you completed the raid on heroic months ago, great, you're done with it and aren't running it anymore. If you don't want the nerf, great, turn it off. We're three weeks away from a new expansion; if people just want to do DS on easy mode to see what it's like, let them! Sheesh.

So your saying just because you have spent a million hours getting some top lvl gear, No one else in the world should ever get a chance to get it as well

The problem is they dont deserve the mounts/titles/gear. I think once things are nerfed they should be recolored or somehow altered so the world knows that they did not EARN the gear/title/mount

And that they stood in line at the Blizzard welfare dept

I am completely dumbfounded by this. The raid was already easy as hell, why do you have to dumb everything down so little kids have it easier? This is based off a great strategy style game that took thought and cunning to win. now it's push and click. No challenge at all. And I am disappointed by that.

@Dariusdk: Your answer is in your question: "So little kids (you are referring to us all that way and I get it) have it easier."

There's no mystery here. Your reward for leetness was not the achievements, the mounts or the gear. It was the ability to beat it first. And that's it. The fact that you assumed, after seeing Blizzard's longstanding policy of doing this, that your exclusive reward was the achievements, gear or mounts is your problem.
