It’s been two weeks since patch 5.0.4 was released and, with only two weeks to go until Mists of Pandaria takes the world by storm, we feel that this is the perfect time to give you access to the World of Warcraft development team. Tomorrow, Tuesday, September 11 beginning at 5:30 p.m. PDT, we’ll be conducting a live developer “Ask Me Anything” (AMA) on /r/WoW. I’ll be on-hand to host the chat and will have Lead Systems Designer Greg Street, Lead Quest Designer Dave Kosak, Lead Encounter Designer Ion Hazzikostas, and Game Director Tom Chilton available to field your questions.

We’ll spend at least an hour working to answer everything possible. So if you have any questions about patch 5.0.4, Mists of Pandaria, and anything else pertaining to World of Warcraft’s story, content, and systems design, come prepared! We want to cover as many different topics as possible and hope to address a wide array of inquiries from participants. We'll be choosing questions based on the information we can reasonably provide, and what kinds of answers we feel will be the most compelling and informative for the entire audience. Be sure to up-vote the questions you’d like to see addressed the most!

If you haven’t done so already, head to reddit and create your account. It’s easy and completely free. Also, keep in mind that /r/WoW is not owned or operated by Blizzard Entertainment. The folks who maintain that subreddit are kind enough to host us, so please be respectful of the great resource they’ve set up for the community.

We all know the number 1 question we will ask the systems designer. "Why did you completely throw out the talent tree and pretty much revamp WoW"

@Blakeyy: Because they didn't "completely throw out the talent tree." They reorganized it. There's a difference. Instead of forcing you to pick certain talents by making you spend 30 points in a tree and requiring that you spend a certain number in each level before moving to the next one they just gave you all the talents that you were forced to pick before and kept the ones that were actually choices (i.e. the first two rows). The remaining talents are still available as major glyphs (in some cases role-specific glyphs). In fact, now you can switch out one glyph and one talent at a time. There are many legitimate gripes about recent changes, but the perceived lack of choice in the revamped talent tree is not one of them.

Horrible way to do a Q and A. Reddit really does suck badly.

Also Blizzard needs to sit down and talk to the community about CRZ on their own website. Reddit was a bad forum for this as not enough of us here are either signed up or care to sign up and up vote crz questions.

@Fairadey: Actually, you mean Reddit really does suck bad. Saying it sucked "badly" would mean that it's ability to suck would be poor, meaning that it doesn't suck at all. Which is correct, imho.

@Callmejewbo: If you're going to criticize someone's grammar at least learn to speak correctly. "Reddit really does suck bad," makes bad the object of the preposition, and that doesn't even make sense because "bad" is not a noun. Saying that it "sucks badly" correctly modifies the verb to indicate that it does not suck in a good way.

Ok I only have one big question and that is as far as class and race combos go, why are there only two Druid possible races per a faction? I know of two that would fit the role on each faction perfectly and also why Pandaren aren't druids cause i check my lore and there is no good reason at all that they can't be druids. (Plus on the two races earlier I was looking at B-elf and dreanie. As for B-elf due to hunger for power and help by two races if wanted. As for Dreanie they have the shamanistic roots and they have N-elfs to teach them close by which if N-elfs can teach cursed humans druidism I am pretty sure they can teach the dreanie's

@Vodoboom: worgen are druids because they have a natural affinity for shapeshifting. not because the night elves taught them. worgen druids go way back into history as the original 'druids of the fang'

Why have shamans as healers totally lost the ability to despell disease? It was hard enough when the dispelling tots were taken away, but now we can't dispell anything other then magic. i love my shaman and this is useless. and it means we have to have a priest for every raid healing. Shamans are great as healers. but we are being cut down to nothing. and the new "talants" don't do anything for either healing or dps. i am dissaponited by this. i feel like the shamans are being pushed to the side.

@Caera: The dispell aside, my shamans heals are more powerful than ever, I top the charts in LFR, we don't wipe in dungeons and on the rare occasion I raid heal instead of tank I crank out HPS easily. As for my enh DPS it's increased by a good 15%.

Not sure why you're suddenly feeling underpowered by since the patch all 6 of my 85's are performing at higher levels than before the patch. I run 2 healers (druid/sham) all the tank classes with DPS os and a hunter and without exception I am better off now than before.

@Shayele: They paid nothing. The devs are using it because it's a better forum. For example, on Reddit, your post would quickly be downvoted into oblivion because it is useless and contributes nothing informative to the conversation, while questions that people actually want answered will get voted to the top.

As soon as the WoW forums have that functionality, they will host more AMA's here.

i like the crossrealm it adds some spice to an otherwise dull part of wow.when u do get some farming items can be sold for more or enjoyed better thx

I'm not happy getting in a random dungeon and having people in my group that doesn't speak the same language. I'm sure it's just as frustrating for them as well. It's hard to communicate with people and organize a group when everyone speaks different languages.

why is it that all I see is whining, moaning and complaining about one little thing after another, most of which I don't even think is true because I have never seen it, can you guys just stop nit picking and complaining because as soon as you start getting into it you're going to start liking it and then they'll probably take it away and then you'll whine about it that too, this is what you're all going to sound like, and I'm gonna use the grandma analogy to best describe how you will behave.

"WAAAH! WAAAAH! I DON WANNA GO! WAAAH WAHH! I DON WANNA SEE GRAMMA! WAAAHH!-(you finally arive)-oh! COOKIES! YAY!-(finally leave)-WAAH! WAAH! I DON WANNA GO! I WANNA STAY WITH GRAMMA! WAAAH WAHH!!!"

its always happens, and you all sound like that in the end, so grow up, have an open mind and stop complaining

cross realms are the worst idea ever... why you didnt make a global votation about it... we are paying you for not to waste our play time as i said before i work in the day time and IM NOT GOING TO PLAY AT 3 AM IN THE MORNING TO FARM WHAT I NEED... can you please read all the ppl that doesnt like it??? please dont destroy this game im a fan since the beginning.

@Blackbutch: There's no reason to be complaining. It's for Low Pop Servers. And high pop servers. People can do arena's with other realms, easyer for rbg's/raids.

@Secsydruid: I'm from a very low pop server (at least horde-side) and I can tell you CRZ does not help us at all. It makes our horrible economy even worse, and 99% of the people I see from other realms are ally from OTHER ally-heavy realms, so i fail to see how that 'improves the community' when I can't even group or talk with them in the first place.

@Blackbutch: They wanted to add more excitement to world PvP by making it so that half your raid zones into another server while you're descending on Ogrimmar. Seriously, though , I really don't think they thought this out very carefully. This isn't even something that could have been well-tested on the PTR because there aren't enough realms.

For ya'll complaining about the cross server realms try going to my other realm fenris..U deal with not 1 but 14 different ones on it I know i made a list of the ones ive seen the people are 4 deep on any ore or herbs or questgivers and goddess forbid u do a AOE they will mark themselves and 5 85s gank lower toons to stop you questing then laugh at you so you end up leaving the area yes the rare stuff stinks yes the dismounting on 2 person stinks BUT noones questing together why doesnt BLIZZ call this a failed experiment and move on? If they feel the need to ~combine~ servers then get rid of some offer free transfers and be done how would u like to pay to transfer off a server and then get the same asshats back in the new server if your questing or farming id be a little peed off to say the least! We all need to complain make our voices heard that this is a lesson in failure and blizz needs to man up say ok it was NOT a good idea and lets move on!
