Brewfest

Brewfest

Brewfest is a time for both the Horde and Alliance to enjoy the fermented fruits of the harvest: pretzels, cheese, and booze! The competing Thunderbrew and Barleybrew breweries (along with neutral Ogre brewers) come together outside of all the major cities in a bid to outdo each other with their ales, meads, and beers. Sit back, take a pull, and sample the finest wares these brewers have to offer!

Event Details

When:   September 20 - October 5th

Where:

  • Main Event: Ironforge (Alliance) and Orgrimmar (Horde). Beer gardens will also be set up outside of Silvermoon City, Darnassus, Undercity, Stormwind, Thunder Bluff, the Exodar, and Shattrath.

Activities

Every year, brewmasters from Drohn’s Distillery, T’chali’s Voodoo Brewery, and the rival Barleybrew and Thunderbrew families  celebrate their handiwork with two weeks of fun, frivolity, steins, spirits, and sausages outside the gates of Ironforge and Orgrimmar.

As with any event that attracts so many revelers, it’s only a matter of time before someone shows up to crash the party – in this case, the Dark Iron Dwarves of Blackrock Mountain. If you can drive the Dark Irons back to the Grim Guzzler, you’ll earn valuable Brewfest Prize Tokens; if the Dark Iron assailants are already running for the mountains, you can earn tokens by completing daily keg deliveries, barking runs for the brewers, and other quests that will challenge your drinking prowess. After a few too many, you might even spot a pink elekk or wild wolpertinger.

Brewfest Prize Tokens
Brewfest Prize Tokens are the currency used to purchase festival clothing and other special items. You can collect them by completing quests offered as part of the festival.

Seasonal Boss: Coren Direbrew
Irritated by badly-behaved party-crashers? Track down the source of the Dark Iron attacks and end them once and for all. If you’ll track the Dark Irons’ trail of evidence back to Blackrock Depths, you can do battle with the mastermind plaguing Beerfest - Coren Direbrew. He drops special rewards including epic weapons, trinkets, and rare mounts.

Ram Racing
Adventurers can show their ram-riding skills by speaking with Neill Ramstein or Ram Master Ray. Before they'll trust you with their precious rams, though, you'll need to prove that you can control one! Once you've proven your expertise at handling the rams, you can earn Brewfest Prize Tickets by picking up kegs of brew from Kharanos or Razor Hill and bringing them back to the fest.

Barkers Wanted
The representatives of some of the major breweries want adventurers to help out by advertizing their brews in Orgrimmar and Ironforge; just speak to one of the brewers for Barleybrew or Thunderbrew (outside of Ironforge) or T'chali's Voodoo Brewery or Drohn's Distillery (outside of Orgrimmar) to get started shilling suds.

Brew of the Month Club
For 200 Brewfest Tokens, you can join the exclusive "Brew of the Month" Club. Once you’ve become a member, you are sent a new brew in the mail every month, each with different properties. If the brew is to your liking, you can purchase more from specific vendors in Ironforge or Orgrimmar. Membership lasts one year and will need to be renewed the following year.

Ceremonial Keg-Tapping
Each day at 6:15 AM and 6:15 PM server time, High Tinker Mekkatorque (Ironforge) and Vol'jin (Orgrimmar) come out to the Brewfest grounds for a brief Tapping of the Keg ceremony. Everyone who witnesses the ceremony will receive a buff that increases experience they’ll earn for kills by 10% for two hours.

Merchants & Vendors
These professional hoarders will accept your Brewfest Prize Tokens in exchange for food, festive clothes, mounts, a pet, and more!

I managed to get to 89 today. I was not happy about having to do it so fast (I can hear some people's laughter) but I like to PLAY WoW not grind it. Anyway, the wait for Coren was almost 20 minutes. I've been playing since WoW started and never had to wait more than a couple of minutes for Coren - a consequence of the STUPID decision to make it 89/90. I guess Blizzard couldn't care less about how many people they disappointed and lied to.

This is also the only one of my eight toons who will see the Headless Horseman this year. I will take my time and enjoy myself with my other seven toons. They'll be lucky to be 90 by this time next year. Of course, that's even if I'm still playing.

You are a lucky guy. I also have a life, but I dont get to play as much as i want. My main character is only 86, but thats because i take my time also. But, I also havent spent all my time in Pandaria on my main, as i enjoy playing my Horde character and enjoying the thousands of new quests i have yet to see that were added in Cataclysm. And of course, running all pre-cata dungeons because they rock(raids too!)

I do think it sucks that they made the c direbrew fight for only 90s. Im sure thousands missed out because they didnt want tp sabotage their own game enjoyment just to participate in a fight for loot they MIGHT get.

I do wish more players would READ quest text and in some ways, play WOW "correctly". I am seeing wayyyyyy too many level 90s that havent even completed 1000 quests sAD..

I wanted to add that Blizzard did disappoint veteran players as myself by not introducing any new mount drops or pets, and since the unification of account pets and mounts there is less to do to acquire such.
In fact the only new add on is the Pandaren Brewpack with the new action interface, which is quite funny but really molesting if you want to use it in a dungeon.

I agree that letting only 89 and 90 to kill Coren Direbrew is problematic as MoP has just been released and people want to experience the new content meaning leveling at their own pace.
Nevertheless this doesn't mean that I haven't leveled doing all the quests one by one, killing some rare mobs, watching all the videos, doing all instances and scenarios I could and even level some pets up to level 10 while achieving many achievements, some more interesting and some less, and I still had time to daily do several tries on Coren Direbrew until the rare dps trinket finally dropped several times and finally I won it.
Ah yes, almost forgot, and I also have a life.

I had been really looking forward to Brewfest. I figured that even though I already had Long Strange Trip, I would have fun with the dungeons. Well, guess what? You have to be 90! Well, if I am going to play I am going to enjoy it, and leveling that fast is just no fun at all. The least they could have done is introduce a new pet for those of us who have "done it all." So guess what? Out of disgust, my four hours a day on wow has been on other games and I have been logging in a couple of times a week to play with friends. If Blizzard keeps this up, they are really going to drain their player base more than it is already.

@Taralie: i agree it should be lower than 90 to play brewfest boss but your end comment about not playing as much doesn't really matter as you are still paying subscription, in fact blizzard benefits more from it if you play less its less strain on the servers and they are still being paid.

They totally screwed up the Long Strange Trip Its Been achievement because of brewfest and only allowing 90s to kill direbrew character. My wife and I have been working on getting this achievement all year and making sure we do everything for it and we make time from our busy schedules to do them and then get almost to the end and find out we can't do it because of this idiocy. Only needed one more achievement after brewfest to get the violet drake mount. I think Blizzard should give that mount to everyone now and fire the employee who decided to make it impossible to get unless you play 24/7.

Thanks for stringing me out for another year waiting to knock off Direbrew; at least let me take a crack at him at 86. So its one more year till I get the chance to stomp the stump. Hope there isn't another release just before Brewfest next year.
