Free Character Moves No Longer Available

New Free Character Moves are no longer available.

If you're on one of the source realms listed below, you can move your characters to one of the designated destination realms and avoid the queues -- for free!

By initiating one of these transfers, you will be moving your character to a new realm and home. This is a one-time, one-way move. If you wish to move your character elsewhere, you will need to use the paid transfer service.

Source Realm -> Destination

Tichondrius-> Blackrock
Illidan -> Mannoroth
Stormrage -> Trollbane

Please be aware that, due to the unpredictable nature of free transfers, we may close down any Free Character Moves at any time and without warning if the target realm becomes full. If you plan to move with friends or your guild, we suggest that you coordinate the effort to reduce the chance of any stragglers being left behind.

Early closures aside, this set of Free Character Moves will end on Thursday, March 21.

@Maladomini: Merging realms would be a much better idea...though to suggest WoW is dying is silly, it has 50% more players than the next highest population MMO.

@Severage: Just because WoW has a higher player base doesn't mean the game isn't dying. Think percentage wise. If you have 1L of water in one bottle and 20oz of water in another, then drink 60% of each bottle, they both have the same percent of water left even though the 20oz seems to have less.

@Severage: Wow went from 12mil to 9mil subs from cata, they lost 3mil players, doesn't sound like much? They lost 1/3 of their players, if you lost 1/3 of your hp you would think that's a lot, if you lost 1/3 of your money in your bank account, you would think that's a lot ( >:P )
But it did go back up to 10mil with MoP, but that's still 2million missing players from wow, if you ask me, it is slowly dying..

My server is dead. There were 0 players in IF and 2 in Org at one point today. I'm moving to a high pop server. I don't care if I get login queues. I left high population servers for the one I'm on and that was a total mistake. So , after moving all 10 characters, only 2 under 85 and I'll just have to start over. No way I'm giving them 25 bucks to move each one. If I contribute to a login queue, then so be it.

The AH is dead. too. I'd consider staying if they could merge the auction houses with the other realms in my battlegroup. Since that will never happen, I'm just going to have to start over. Again, there is no way I'm paying 175 bucks to move every 85-90 character I have.

@Çold: A major expansion release since their biggest flop, no !@#$ they went up. If you think they are staying up with the mindless decisions they are making lately and as more people get sick of their dead realms you are delusional. I wouldn't say the game is near dead but it's nowhere near its former glory and will dwindle big time with no new dungeons/dead realms/impossible to catch up etc....

Played the game since after Vanilla and this is first time posting on one of these. I agree with Stiglitzz about his comments made. Game is dying on some realms Blizz lets take a step in the forward direction. Love it don't want to see that old Fri-Sat. Night vibe die like some of these realms have. Alliance - Terenas = Ghost town. My favorite used to be the random PUG you could get and then that piece of gear drops. For me was WAY more exillarating than the super pro raid team downing bosses. Made it all the more worth it.

I agree with closing down low pop and low activity realms and combining some...
Its a rare thing on my realm to find a Pug raid group, and for raiding guilds, its very difficult to put together a 10 man group period...
I have created lvl 1's to check out many realms, looking for a realm to transfer my 5 90's too, in exception to several "super realms" most are very low activity as best as i can tell...
So spending the $100 plus to transfer, the additional $60 for guild transfer... the added cost that the few guildies left in my guild would have to fork out .... I dunno, lots of dough to maybe find a better realm...
Its Time for Blizz to step up and make transfer free for one month, then consolidate some realms after people move...
something needs to be done, the level of enjoyment is just way low, and I hate to give up on warcraft, I enjoyed playing imensly in late wotLK/cata, when my realm was very active... now its just daily grinds and queing for a painfilled LFR experience... just my opinion

I wish this included dominant faction characters on unbalanced realms.... I mean, my old realm Mal'Ganis has like 98% horde dominace, and its pvp... making the game almost completely unenjoyable for alliance players.

Shadowsong Horde could use some transfers either on or off. The realm is from 2004 and its like 62%-38% Alliance to Horde ration and the server is dead as hell.

@Delino: im an eu player on the us server and I dont have any problem. Being on a differnt time zone comes in handy when you want to beat the crowds at certin world events like the upcomeing easter event

Instead of these free server transfers, why don't they start phasing servers out? Condense the low pop servers and fix lots of issues they have for low pop servers, then continue adding free xfer's for high -> med pop servers.

@Thetaria: in case you haven't realized, the reason that they are doing this is to balance out the population differences between the high pop. realms and the lower pop. realms, doing free swaps from low>high pop. or high>high pop. would completely defeat the purpose of this operation.. just be grateful that you are getting anything for free.

People are paying left and right to transfer *to* these servers from dying realms. Can't see anyone voluntarily leaving... Every other line in trade chat on Stormrage is "Just transferred, looking for guild" or "Lvl 25 guild freshly transferred LF....." Moving to there from a dead server was worth every penny....

@Dirtydate: They only allow free transfers from realms that have a huge population, so huge that people are actually waiting to log into that server during peak hours. They will never allow free transfers from low pop realms. It has ALWAYS been this way; I don't understand why people are upset about this.
