I thought I would throw my two cents in here and mention that I tried a lot of solutions for this.

Then I read Valenus's solution about making sure you can view webpages through Internet explorer. I normally use chrome so I was like....well let's see. I fired up internet explorer and for whatever reason it was put on Offline mode. I put it back to normal, went to google, msn, and yahoo. They all came up fine. I then started WoW again. The launcher went through and everything worked great.

Big Thanks TO Valenus for that.

Thanks for the information, I was stupid enough not to read the stickies, the second option worked for me as for installing the client through battle.net, dont know about using the launcher.

Nothing working for me at the moment. I've been experiencing this the last 3 days out of nowhere. Sometimes a solution will work but every time I log out and try to log back in, I have to try a NEW solution since the one I used before to resolve this issue won't work a 2nd time. This sucks. I really hope Blizz is hard at work on this issue........

Just a quick post to implore people that are having this problem to check to make sure that Internet Explorer isn't working in Offline Mode, even if you haven't touched IE in a million years. I went through several of the various "fixes" posted in the original post without bothering to check IE's status because I use Firefox for my browsing. Lo and behold, without even opening it, IE had changed itself to Offline Mode. I unchecked the box, loaded up WoW without any further problems, and all was right with the world.

I typically use Chrome. I updated IE though and even verified that it wasn't in Offline mode but I am still having issues.

How did this just pop out of nowhere? WoW was working great till a few days ago and now I'm dealing with this every time I try to play. Sometimes one of the various solutions works but the chances of it working the next time are up in the air.

It's discouraging to see that this has been an issue for some people since October. The old forums has a 12 page long thread on the same thing. I really hope Blizzard can narrow down the cause and get this fixed up sooner than later. :(

I found the new .tfil download and added it as before, but now when I run the launcher it continues with the "unable to get information..." crap, and it removes the .tfil that everyone says works for them, what gives?

Where did you find the .tfil file? I've been looking for it everywhere.

I will let you know if I am experiencing the same problem with the file.

I'm so tired of having to do this every couple of weeks. What exactly am I paying the 15 dollars a month for again?

It downloaded for me fine, but I move them over to their required folders and hit Launcher the tfil gets deleted and I am back at square 1. Ran the repair tool twice in the past 24hrs, claims it is fixed but it isn't. I noticed a new file "Microsoft.VC80.CRT.manifest" in my WoW folder too, another "wtf is that moment".

Found another host to same files:

The mpq: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=UJFBTV0U

The tfil: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=JC83WU2C

Replacing the .tfil file worked for me ...the first time only.
Restarting my computer in safe mode also worked ...the first time only.

Maybe the Launcher is evolving and becoming self-aware. We must protect John Connor!

If there is another Patch today please post a new .mfil and .tfil Thanks

It's great this has been turned into a sticky... but we're really not making a whole lot of progress. One look at the forum tells me there are still heaps of people suffering from launcher problems.

FYI Blizz, ignoring your customers is not good PR.

I ran the repair tool from my WoW folder and it worked!! Too bad when I tried it again later it did NOT work...

I'm praying today's maintenance fixes this issue.

I agree somewhat. While I'm confident Blizz isn't ignoring this issue, it would be nice to see that the problem is being given some attention. The sticky helps but no real (apparent) follow up is less than reassuring.

I am having this problem it only started this morning. I've tried every alternative but nothing seems to work. I continue to see that WoW can not connect to the server but it was working just fine last night.. This is what I get in WoError. Can a blue help or respond to this I want to play the game x.x

Yes I am going to assume this is a blizzard issue... yet again. I am also using a campus network and to my knowledge they have changed nothing... Last time it was a blizzard issue and the time before that etc. etc. This is really very annoying and blizzard really needs to admit they are at fault, not us the player base.

Tried most everything this forum as came up with. Still can't press the play button ): I hope they will work on this soon. But I'm glad I'm not the only one with this issue though. I am on my university wifi, but that never stopped any patches or games I've had before...hmm
I have no trouble after I completely shut down my antivirus, running VIPRE premium. If its running, I get the javascript error on the launcher, can't find patching information, and wow.mfil error/fail to load. The moment I shut it down, everything works just fine.

Really troubling that I can't secure my computer and play warcraft at the same time blizzard.

Also, until the thanksgiving week patch I had none of these issues.
