Hi Ambroze,

Assertion errors generally indicate corrupted files. Most often, these files are in the temporary folders.

Reset the temp files:
1. Navigate to /Applications/World of Warcraft/
2. Delete the Cache folder.
3. Move Interface and WTF to the Desktop.
4. Then go into the Data folder, and delete the Cache folder in there.
5. Launch WoW.

If that doesn't clear up the assertion error, try a PRAM reset:
1. Shut the computer down.
2. Start up holding Command (Apple)+Option+P+R.
3. Hold the keys down until you hear 3 boot chimes or if your sound is muted the screen flashes three times.
4. Release the keys and allow the system to boot normally.
5. Test WoW.

You May wish to run the repair tool located in the WoW folder to see if it replaces any corrupt files.

If that fails, it's time to reinstall. To make it quicker and easier, you can use the Digital Download to install/patch and play.

Before you start the install process, check your permissions and check your hard drive's directory to make sure everything is in running order.

Please use the steps below to repair file permission settings on the hard drive.

1. Navigate to /Applications/Utilities/ and open Disk Utility
2. Select the hard drive the game is installed on
3. Select the First Aid option
4. Click on the Repair Disk Permissions button

Repair Directory Procedure:

1. Shut down the computer.
2. Power up holding Cmd (Apple) +s until you get a black screen with white type
3. At the cursor please type the following: /sbin/fsck -f -y and press return
*NOTE - Please be aware that some of the procedures will look like they are frozen, but are actually taking a long time i.e. checking hierarchy
4. If anything had to be repaired, repeat step 3. Do this until it says "The Volume appears to be OK."
5. Once things are repaired type exit and press return
6. Computer will boot into Mac OS

I would also recommend running the Apple Hardware Test. You will need to have the original disc your computer was shipped with mounted in the drive. Hold down the "D" key while rebooting to get into the Apple Hardware Test from the choices. If you don't have an Intel-based Mac, you'll need to hold down "Option" while booting to get to the Startup Manager. Then you can choose the AHT from the options there.

I'd recommend an extended test of all hardware, looping if that's possible. That will let us know for sure if there are any hardware problems. If it reports any hardware issues, you'll want to contact a local Apple Service Provider to address those.

In order to remove World of Warcraft safely from your system, you will need to:

1. Go to your Mac HD/Applications folder and move your World of Warcraft to the Trash
2. Go to your Mac HD/Users/Shared folder and move the Blizzard folder to the Trash
3. Go to your Mac HD/Users/your account/Library/Preferences and delete any files associated with WOW:
(You might not have all of these files since I'm running a lot more versions of WOW)

- com.blizzard.downloader.plist
- com.blizzard.Downloader.prefs
- com.blizzard.errorreporter.plist
- com.blizzard.Installer.plist
- com.blizzard.launcher.plist
- Com.blizzard.World of Warcraft.prefs
- com.blizzard.World of Warcraft.survey.prefs

4. Empty Trash
5. Install WoW from one of these locations:
a) http://us.battle.net/account/management/download/
b) You can log into us.battle.net and go to Manage Games>Download Game Client>Full Game Client (Mac).

Try deleting the Cache folder in the Data folder.

Looks like some cache got corrupted as the file it's asking for isn't supposed to exist any more

Compare your Data folder to mine :

to note about his screen shot, the .lock files may or may nto be there, those typically show up if either launcher or wow is open at the time.

Yeah .lock files are to do with the streaming launcher system. Ignore those.
