Last time I healed was in wolk when VoA was out on my Paladin. I'm looking for a new healer to play(tired of dps and tank) but im not sure which is the easiest/most forgiving healer when it comes to rotation and like 5 mans(eventually raiding).
I don't mind having a "set" rotation or a plethora of spells, just looking for one that I can master and not have to worry about being "so" gear dependent. So any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking and I look forward to hearing from the community :)
At this point in the game with all the accessibility to gear especially with the timeless isle loot and all the smart heals there really is no hard healer anymore. Palys might be a bit of a pain if you are completely new and trying to master all the cds/spells they have but really if you just watch a video or 2 on them even they aren't that hard.
Mop is basically hit your smart heal on cd so just pick whichever playstyle you like best. If you like versatility and access to many specs if you get bored of healing go with a Druid, if you like the ability to have 2 healing specs pick a priest. If you enjoy having 2 resource systems and or the ability to do damage while healing (this applys to priest as well) then go with monk. If you enjoyed your paladin from before try them again they are much more flexible now then they were in wrath (aka they aren't just tank healers anymore) and if you like the ability to have both a ranged and melee dps spec choice when you want a break from healing and like the idea of totems try shamans.
Okay my selling of shamans was weak but honestly I've never liked my shaman so a shaman please sell yourself here to this lad!
Tldr= most healing specs can do any role to an acceptable level right now so just choose whichever you think sounds fun to you.

There is no set rotation for healing and really never has been.
If you like a lot of cooldowns, Pally or Shaman
If you like versatility and mobility (currently 2 gearing styles very "easy" to play, harder to master), Druid
If you like 2 healing spec options (damage/aborbs or aoe/hots), Priest
If you like the idea of channeled healing and high level of spell interlocking (more complexity) try out monk.
And don't forget your offspec is more important in MoP than ever, with a great deal of solo content available / required, guilds requiring at least basic proficiency in 2 specs/ Do you want to be melee dps? Caster dps? Tank?

Right now im leaning toward priest or shaman. I like caster dps, so is there a big gap between balance and shadow dps wise? I'll be doing pve maybe a little pvp.
I like balance, but our gearing is quite different than restoration. Restoration druids need much more haste and mastery than we do. Most balance druids hit the first haste breakpoint and then stack crit (starsurge city). As far as elemental/resto shamans, the difference is that resto needs more crit and mastery over elemental's haste and mastery.
