Keep playing broken class for its theme?

Hunters,
I enjoy ranged physical damage and I enjoy weapons altering my DPS, I hate casters and spell power but I also hate melee. Do I keep playing the broken, horrible resource hunter for the themetic feel? is this something that I should focus on finding ways to adapt with? I am honestly curious if its worth the effort to stick with it because I like the theme of the class and its overall playstyle even though the class is so painfully broken now and at 85. |

If you have fun playing your hunter and enjoy the theme, stick it out. Classes are always changing through out an expansion, what you start with isn't always what you end up with. I've been sticking with my priest since '05 because I love the theme of the class, you just have to be able to enjoy the good times and stick it out through the bad times.

The theme of Focus is fine. It's the implementation of Focus that's broken.
It's the frustration of using 2-3 abilities and then having to go back into "regeneration" mode that makes people hate Focus. And it's the complete lack of burst and shots hitting like wet noodles that make Hunters frustrated in PvP. So most people associate the weak shots to 0 success in PvP to Focus ruining the class. Focus as a resource is fine. Blizzard just needs to tune the regen numbers, the shot costs, and the shot damage. |

from 80-85 it should be as easy as it ever was for hunters (pve wise anyway)
I am not a fan of the restricted resource system (especially the regen component, cast shot ftl) but it will work fine for the trek to 85 What happens then is anyones guess. My guess is that pve raiding will be fine, although I hope it is not as clunky as it is currently. I don't see how they will fix pvp without some major changes, but I am sure major changes will be coming once they have the time. In short, if you enjoy the theme, continue to do so up til 85. But, swap off rest xp with your favorite alt just in case. At a minimum, you will have a pvp alternative if no changes materialize. I rolled this hunter on launch day. It has always been my favorite class. even broken it should still be fun for the cata leveling experience. |

You know, The only problem with your logic here is that it is not applied across all class choices. how often do you watch your mana bar on that lock? Fact is, hunters ran out of mana about as quickly as most mana using damage classes did. Now we have a forced cast shot regen that has locked down 20% of your standard shot cycle at least. Can I make it work? Sure. Is it fun? not really. Is it more prohibitive than the play style of a lock, mage, ele shaman, ect? In my opinion, yes. Other classes can still unload insane amounts of damage without worrying about their mana. Other classes can still destroy multiple people without even looking at their mana bar. it is just bad design when you compare it to other classes, has nothing to do with IQ. |

Paladins are in a good spot for Heal #%#@@ positions.

The theme of Focus is fine. It's the implementation of Focus that's broken. You do realize that they NEVER finish fine tuning the game. EVER. This is why there are patches constantly changing numbers up and down. No class will ever go through the length of an expansion untouched. And Focus is not fine. Blizz may think it's fine, but there are thousands of Hunters out there that feel otherwise. Are there going to be tweaks to Focus? You bet there will. There's no way Blizzard would allow the mass dissatisfaction among Hunters for Focus to stay in it's current implementation for the whole expansion. Shot costs may be adjusted. Passive regen may be adjusted. Active regen may be adjusted. We just have to wait and see what Blizz has in store for Hunters in the future. |

Funny how hunters have to manage a resource now when they removed that need from every DPS caster for cata given that watching a resource as a caster was dumb.
