Damage mitigation math question...

So obviously % damage reduction mechanics don't combine additively...

I'm talk about PvP mostly, because with a 1080 resilience I get 34% reduction, Natural Instincts talents give me another 12%, Barkskin gives 20% and Survival Instinct gives 60%. Add all those up ad I should reduce 126% reduction, but I know thats not how it works.

Can someone spell out the math for me please.

I believe it is multiplicative. So with all the effects you listed, you'd take only .66*.88*.8*.4 = 18.6% of the normal damage (81.4% damage reduction). Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong about that.

100-34 = 66

So 66%, or .66.

.88 is 100%-12% from natural instincts and so on.

They're just reversed coefficients of the effects you listed. For example, barkskin gives .2 (or 20%) damage reduction, so I say you take 0.8 (or 80%) of the normal damage. Your resilience gives you 34% damage reduction, so that means you take 1 - 0.34 = 0.66 (or 66%) of the damage.
With both effects applied, you essentially take 66% of 80% of the normal damage (or .66*.8) which is 52.8%.

gets the .66 from 1.00-0.34 (34% resil) the 0.88 from 1.00-0.12(NI talent) the 0.8 from 1.00-0.20 (barkskin skill) and 0.40 from 1.00-0.60 (SI Skill)

so he was calculating how much you would take overall, opposed to how much you would mitigate.
