The Ultimate Guide to Alliance-side RP!

The following is everything you need to get involved in the role-playing community on Alliance side for the Sentinels server. This list will be ever-evolving and updated as events warrant. Please leave a response here to get something added or to let me know that something is no longer available and should be deleted. I'll be checking this thread a couple of times a week to make sure it stays updated.

A note to our Horde-side friends: This thread isn't a slight to all of your wonderful and fantastic RP. However I like to keep things simple and straightforward. For organizational purposes I think two threads just work better so someone can easily skip past all the stuff that doesn't concern them. Fast and at a glance is our goal here! Please feel free to create a similar thread for Horde-side RP.

--Channels--

/RPClassified- This channel is an OOC channel for RP’ers to find role-play partners and is the main hub for a great deal of the RP community.

/Wyrmhearth- This channel is an IC channel that is set in the Wyrmhearth Tavern. A place to role-play even while out grinding.

--Blogs--

Azerothian Enquirer- An IC newspaper covering the events on the Sentinels Server.

You can find it here:

--Mods in wide use by the RP community--

FlagRSP2- FlagRSP2 is an AddOn for World of Warcraft that allows players to add additional information about their characters into the game. It is designed to support role players and allow others with FlagRSP2 and RSP compatible AddOns to easily see if the character is a role player or is even in character.

You can find it here:

Gryphonheart Items (GHI)- Allows the user to create items within the game with a variety of effects viewable by others with the mod and that can be linked in chat channels.

Lore- A mod that allows the user to speak different languages for RP purposes and be understood to others with the mod.

MyRolePlay- MyRolePlay is a roleplaying addon for World of Warcraft. It allows you to add roleplay-specific information about your character that other users of MyRolePlay (and other compatible addons) can see in the tooltip, and in a more detailed window. It works much like FlagRSP2 and in fact users from one mod can view the information from those using the other. MyRolePlay has more options however though it spams your chatbox each time you start the game.

You can find it here:

Tongues- Another mod that allows you to speak different languages for RP purposes. Will allow others with the mod to understand you.

--Weekly Events--

Hair of the Dog Tavern- Open on Sundays from 7:00pm till 8:00pm and hosted by the Hair of the Dog in Ironforge at Bruuk's Corner. GHI is highly recommended as they're putting it to use for drinks, menus, and the like. The tavern will be appealing for those of a less moral bound nature. So if your character is the shady sort, they may have a new favorite watering hole!

Tuesday Takeover - Held each Tuesday at 7pm. Open, walk-up RP in Cathedral Square, Stormwind hosted by the Servitors of Lothar. People typically gather near the steps and then spread out from there in order to keep things rolling and prevent it from becoming spammy.

Wayward Son Tavern- Open on Tuesdays at 6:00pm till 8:00pm and hosted by the Retribution of Arathor at the tavern in Hearthglen.

You can find their website here: http://sentinels.wikia.com/wiki/The_Wayward_Son

The Sword & Stein- Open Thursdays at 7pm to 9pm at the Blue Recluse Tavern in the Mage District of Stormwind. It is run by Manifest Destiny.

--Alliance RP Guilds--

A listing of guilds that give RP more than lip service and have actively tried to contribute to the RP community. Please note that “light” RP guilds are not included here.

Submissions: Please keep your guild descriptions to 200 words or under and in the format used below. Thank you!

Clan Jade Falcon:

Guild Philosophy- Clan Jade Falcon is a medium-level roleplaying Guild on Sentinels server. Members are encouraged to develop roleplaying backgrounds and to interact with the roleplaying community. Clan Jade Falcon occasionally hosts semi-scripted roleplaying campaigns and engages in sporadic spontaneous roleplaying. Emphasis is placed more on end-game content than roleplaying at the moment, although this will likely shift back to Roleplaying in Cataclysm.

Guild Background- A small independent organization backed by the Alliance military, Clan Jade Falcon was formed in the wake of the Third War by Archmage Neo Pryde and exists to rid Azeroth of the evil powers (particularly the Burning Legion and the Scourge) that would threaten the safety of Azeroth.

Convocation

Guild Philosophy- We are a merge of Firewind (heavy rp guild) and Reverie (raiding guild) combined to do both. Thus, we are a casual to medium level roleplaying guild that holds rp nights on the weekends and will be raiding a few days during the week. We're a fun and relaxed bunch that isn't above teaching people how to roleplay in a low key environment where they can ease into it and get used to things.

Guild Backstory- The current backstory for Convocation centers around the Shattering and Thallia wishing to gather all of her friends back to her in an effort to keep them safe, while making sure that they can help others affected by the events Deathwing brought about. Soon, they will be venturing forth to help protect Azeroth and collect important and powerful artifacts so that Deathwing or the Twilight Cultists cannot use them for nefarious deeds.

website: http://convocation.mmoguildsites.com

Dragonsworn Council:

Guild Philosophy- The Dragonsworn Council is a heavy role-play guild on the Sentinels server. Emphasis is placed on role-playing, storytelling, and community. Many RP guilds, even some who classify themselves as heavy role-play oriented, engage in RP as merely a sidelight to other activities. In contrast the Dragonsworn Council approaches RP and community building as its primary and only focus. Much like a PvE guild might focus the entirety of it’s effort on raiding, and thus excel in that area, we do likewise in our own aspect of game play. This enables the officers and membership to remain focused on creating a truly special community, the kind we all hoped to find when we first picked a RP server in the first place.

Guild Background- Mortals who have sworn themselves to the Wyrmrest Accord in the wake of the Nexus War. A new war between the Titans and the Old Gods is brewing. But this time it will be fought between those they created or corrupted. The dragons. And Azeroth’s fate hangs in the balance...

Malakim:

Guild Philosophy- Malakim is a small, close-knit roleplaying guild which focuses on all aspects of the game, with a more patient approach to the game than many. We are a casual but active guild with members that enjoy roleplaying, instancing and PvP in a companionable atmosphere.

Guild Background- Not long after the close of the Third War, the mercenary company known as Malakim, led by the Kaldorei Shrike and Shakta, began to accept and perform assignments in their own idiosnycratic style. Today, Malakim continue accepting only those assignments that fit with the group's moral and ethical ideals, sometimes even forgoing payment.

Manifest Destiny:

Guild Philosophy - To promote a safe-haven atmosphere of family and comradery to every member; to foster an environment of growth, respect, compassion and mutual assistance; to encourage creative and rewarding roleplay on the Sentinels server with guildmembers and non-guildmembers alike.

Manifest Destiny is a heavy roleplaying guild, with a present, but lesser emphasis on leveling, instancing and raid progression. Roleplay is truly the heart of MD, being a guild that heartily encourages diverse and exciting stories, with guild members, prospective guild members and non-guild members alike. Guild members are known and treated as family.

Guild Background - The Halls of Destiny are a community of colorful individuals that are dedicated to a unified cause of pursuing the greatest potential of themselves and their fellow guildmates. In so doing, they strengthen a familial bond of fellowship, creating an unfaltering force that stands to oppose the world's greatest threats to the civilized free peoples of Azeroth.

Retribution of Arathor:

Guild Philosophy- Medium/heavy RP guild dedicated to roleplaying and storytelling, community, limited PvP/PvE and above all, friendship and goodwill within the guild and throughout the community. After all, if the elements of an RP community can't work within itself, then how does the RP community work at all?

Guild Background- "The Retribution is tasked with the following mandate: To combat the armies of the dead and the corrupted. To protect the innocent peoples of Azeroth from those who would oppress them. To be the blade of justice and retribution in the hands of the righteous. To combat the agents of the Undead Scourge, the Forsaken, the Burning Legion, and the corrupt and evil Old Gods wherever they may stand. To aid where it may organizations dedicated to similar goals. To eliminate the threats defined above with extreme prejudice." (From the charter of August 2009)

Servitors of Lothar:

Guild Philosophy- Heavy RP, military-themed. Emphasis on character development and RP community outreach. Further information can be found in our FAQ, accessible through our website.

Guild Background- The Servitors of Lothar were formed as a military unit working under Alliance leadership. They are currently stationed in Aerie Peak and have members deployed all over Azeroth and beyond.

I know sometime after the Cataclysm release, Daros and Kryssy (aka Dantiné) are going to be redoing their vowes to celebrate Daros and I irl for being together for 2 years. As of the exact time, I do not know, but I will keep it posted.

Update:
Daros and I have made an official date and location. It will be March 10th, 2011 behind the Cathedral where the gazebos are at 4:00pm ST. Anyone is welcome, to all the RP friends of Kryssy, I will be whispering you soon about this event.

Please to alter current Wayward Son listing in this thread as the 'Son no longer exists in its current incarnation in SW Park. You know, since there is just a big hole there.

Also, please add the following for the Servitors of Lothar:

Servitors of Lothar:
