You actually already want Ignite; it's a very good DPS increase.
The idea wouldn't work; FFB is lower DPET than Frostbolt unless it's cast on Brain Freeze, whether or not it can proc Brain Freeze. Regardless, we gave a fair amount of feedback in beta in favor of changes that discouraged FFB from replacing Frostbolt as the main nuke, because it was just blech. Anyway, I doubt it's necessary. If Frost is lagging behind when we hit raid content, there are a number of knobs they can turn to rectify the problem. |

Yes, the Ignite damage is of course accounted for. It's seriously not even close. Not only is the DPET lower, but it increases the interval between your procs because it's a slower cast.
FFB is a critical spell for Frost already on Brain Freeze procs, and it's a totally viable option for Fire if you glyph it instead of Fireball; the DPS difference between those two options is negligible. That's plenty of usefulness for the spell. |

Question for Lhiv. I have been following the mage changes. Is using fire with FFB as the main nuke, as bad on mana as fire is supposed to be at 85?

Whether or not you believe Fire to have mana problems, FFB will be almost identical to Fireball in terms of mana consumption (Fireball will do a bit better due to higher crit and more MOE returns).
