This is not a QQ thread. I'm just wondering if anyone has figured out a way to farm Heavy Junkboxes other than the crazy low drop rate in Blackrock. <3

I had someone assist me in farming for these and he had a little area he went in where he could fill his bags reasonably quickly however the clysm has changed the area so not sure if its even possible still.

He would go around the area of the Scarlet Crusade in EPL south of Lights Hope - the place that connects to the DK Starting aread. Apparently he reckons the fasts rate was there and after a full circle the mobs had "respawned" their ability to be lockpicked.

I just quested there last night, there were still mobs there but also quests so if it doesn't work anymore then sorry >.>

You cannot pickpocket Heavy Junkboxes in EPL any more. Still have to find 55ish humanoids to get them.

pickpocket EVERYONE in Scholomance

I was doing the new quests in Arathi and killing Syndicate was giving me 5 Ravenholdt rep per kill. I'm currently honored w/Ravenholdt so I'm not sure if Blizz changed the ability to grind this to exalted through mobs or not but it definitely looks this way.

can't farm them past revered. i am revered and they give me no rep :x

they need to fix this low rep grind make a small dungeon that can give rep ie like scholomance would help alot i have been going into LBRS for two weeks and getting about 5 heavy lockboxes per hour

I've heard the orc camps around the center of Burning Steppes are good. Haven't been there myself though.

Nothing needs fixing. The insane acheivement is easy enough with the Shen'dralar removed, no sense to make it even easier like everything else in this game nowdays.

I just completed the insane last month so I might be able to help you. Gonna copy/paste from my wowhead comments:

Ravenholdt was just a straight forward grind. I used Stromguard to farm. Averaged about 1.5-2.5k rep/hr there. The rest of the rep came from LBRS. There are other places to farm lockboxes from, but it required more downtime because you had to wait on respawned-pockets. In LBRS it was a nonstop running grinding thing. Was straight forward and uneventful. Just took awhile.

As mentioned here, Stromguard from arathi highlands will work until revered.

The other place I'm referring to is Blackrock Stronghold. If you want to log in, grind for a few minutes, log out..it's a good place. If you want to go nonstop and farm until your bags are full, sell, and keep going..LBRS is your only bet. You can loot everything from Stronghold faster than the pockets will respawn, however...In LBRS, if you follow the suggested paths you will never run into pockets you've already hit(unless you're sprinting a lot)

Farming the junkboxes took me 20 hours when I did it in Wrath. Knocked that out in 2 days with 2 10 hour binges in LBRS, it's pretty easy. Just empty your bags, put on some music, and go to town. Set your hearth close so you can run back fast when you fill up.

After a couple hours you'll figure out the best route through that place, no one can really tell you that part, you'll figure it out though.

This was the easiest grind for me when I was trying to get the insane title. LBRS is the best place to get the junkboxes. Turn on auto loot bind your pickpocket to a side mouse button or one you can spam and go to town. You don't have to wait for the loot window to pop up just run around and go nuts! I averaged about 100 boxes an hour depending on how fast I went.

I can, on my level 74 rogue, completely pickpocket the eastern raised section of the Netherguarde mines in Blasted Lands, get about 10-15 boxes in 10 minutes, and make it back to where I started just as the respawn is starting. I had far far far less luck in UBRS/LBRS.

I think this only works for Horde, however.

Im still neutral with them but in order to start the junkbox quests do I have to be friendly?

This. On my 58 Sub Rogue I got all the Junkboxes I needed in roughly 18 hours of farming (not in one hit of course!). Near the entrance of the mine I would Shadowstep to the upper area, pickpocket my way along to the end of the area where the big Demon, Yllicor I think, was and then jump down into the large area, then pickpocket my way back through the lower area, then follow the ramp back towards the start and Shadowstep back up to the top again. Sometimes I'd have to afk for 2-3 mins because the pockets wouldn't have respawned, but most of the time it was fine.

I tried LBRS and just had terrible luck. Kept pulling mobs too due to my level, so that may have been the problem.

Had an 85 Rogue hogging the place in Burning Steppes too. I was happily farming there and he decided he was going to kill all the mobs rather than pickpocket them. Probably did me a favour though, because I'd say Nethergarde ended up being faster...

I grinded this a long time ago, but unless things have changed, I ground boxes from LBRS. Easily got 50 or 60 a run through, and about 80 on a good run.

You CAN start doing junkboxes at Neutral, but killing Syndicate mobs until you cap at 11999/12000 Honored is much faster. It's also your only option until you get to a high enough level to actually do the pickpocketing and get away with it.

It was suggested to me that I try hitting around the Ring of Law in Blackrock Depths. Pretty good spot for looting those so far. You just go into the dungeon and use the portal, choosing the domicile option. Watch out for doggies in there as they can detect you. However for me, my rogue is at 77 now and I have no problems steering clear of the dogs but still being able to pick pocket all the guys that are standing with the dogs. Work your way over to the ring and just hit around there. You may have to wait a couple minutes depending on how fast you loot all the mobs in there but ultimately the wait isn't terrible and you can wander around the surrounding area and loot guys as well while you wait.

Raimondas, I looked at your website again to get more info particularly on Ravenholdt. All other factions are in check for the Insane with the except of Darkmoon which I'll hit exalted with in a couple weeks. But on your page for Ravenholdt I didn't see that you mentioned this particular area as a place to get the boxes. May want to add it. At least for me it was fairly simple to get to, and even the dogs weren't in the mobs every time I went in. And the drop rate was decent on the boxes. Great guide overall though! It's very clear that you have done this 4 times now. I know I keep saying I'll only do the Insane on this toon and yet already I've considered going for it on my rogue. Ugh, the torture continues. LOL
